i get tired of this idea that God selects individuals for salvation. These are called “the elect”.
There is not a person on here that can PROVE they are one of the elect. You can’t demonstrate anything physically. You can’t point to anything in the Bible that proves that you personally have been selected. You can only point to generic passages talking about election. And in those passages there is NOTHING that points directly to you.
So, I want ALL those who think God chose you for election to please stand up and PROVE IT!!!

Are you saying that individuals actually have to do something in order to be one of the “elect”?
Because you actually made a factual statement. The “elect” are all those who are “in Christ”.
So, if you are “in Christ”. What did you do to get there?

It is statements like the one above that makes Christianity into a joke. Nobody feels they have to prove anything. They can just state they are saved, chosen by God and don’t have to prove it. Just take my word for it. I am “in Christ”. I am one of the elect. Why? Because I said so and you can’t question me.

* Written to the believing remnant of Israel, dispersed among the nations: it is indeed written to the 'Elect'; for they were indeed, 'Elect', as a nation before God. This election within an election was made on the basis of God's 'foreknowledge': yet these believing individuals called from among the nation as the believing remnant, the firstfruit, were 'elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father - through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ'.

* These were elected through the 'setting apart' (ie., sanctification) of the Spirit , unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, as a firstfruit of that nation, the nation as a whole having rejected their Messiah as both prophet, priest and King. Their election being the pledge of a yet future redemption for the nation itself (Romans 11:26).

* I believe that we who believe are all the elect of God - on the basis of His foreknowledge. Elect, not unto salvation, but through salvation to the calling of God's choosing.

* God knows the end from the beginning, He knows those who will believe and those who will not, simply because He has foreknowledge. He does not pre-determine unbelief in some and belief in others: but He knows beforehand those who are His, who will believe to the saving of their soul, so He is able to pre-destine them accordingly.

that He might be the Firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called:

This first chapter of Peter gives us a lot of info..
Peter is writing to Christians. Whoever they are. He is not directing this letter to the “nation of Israel”.

The people he is writing to have been redeemed with the blood.
1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

He is writing to people that have been sanctified through the Spirit. 1:2
This tells WHAT happened and not HOW it happened. This does NOT mean a direct operation of the Spirit. The word is the sword of the Spirit. In vs 22 Peter tells these people they had purified their souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit.
How did they do this?....read vs 23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

He is writing to people that have been born again...1:3,23. Which includes water..jn 3:5, 1 pet 3:21.

He is writing to people that had repented..
1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
They had changed their way of living.

He is writing to people that had called on the Lord. Vs 17. Read rom 10:13-15

He is writing to people that had purified their souls through OBEDIENCE. VS 22. Read also Heb 5:9

This chapter is so fantastic on telling us who the “elect” is. The elect are those who have heard the word, believed it, repented, called on the lord, (see my calling thread for more info)
been born again through this word, and have purified their souls through obedience and been redeemed with the blood.

God did not select individuals for salvation. God predestined and predetermined the TYPE, TYPE, TYPE, of individual who would be his. 1 Peter is a good place to start to understand who that is.

These are believing Jews, dispersed among the nations. See 1 Peter 2:9-12:-

'But ye are a chosen generation,
.. a royal priesthood,
.... an holy nation,
...... a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of Him Who hath called you
out of darkness into His marvellous light:
Which in time past were not a people,
but are now the people of God:
which had not obtained mercy,
but now have obtained mercy.
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims,
abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles:
that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers,
they may by your good works,

Addressing the OP, the apostle Peter is addressing all nations, which is know as the "HOUSE" of Israel. for the command is Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost". some of the sameone's addressed in 1 Peter is listed in Acts 2:5-10. as charity said,

for the apostle Paul writes, Romans 9:11 "(For [the children] being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)". and what did the apostle Peter said about God' calling? Acts 2:39 "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call". is God just calling Jews only, or Israelires only? no, gentiles as well, all who believe.

and the reason why we say this is the calling of Capt. Cornelius, a Gentile. Acts 10:4 "And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God".

this is bare out in prophecy, Malachi 3:16 "Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. Malachi 3:17 "And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

here we have God's book of life, and a gentile is in it, for the book of remembrance is those who are "SAVED" and if they are save then they are santified.

this book of remembrance means, "MEMORAL"

HOLD IT, God said "when" he make up his jewels. when indicate at what time, it's not yet finish. for as Charity said, and the apostle said, "whom God calls." and he is still calling today. so the JEWELS of God, (his elect, his chose) is not yet finish or the time has not yet been fullfilled.

so the calling of God is to all who believe, all nation by faith. supportive scripture, Acts 10:34 "Then Peter opened [his] mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Acts 10:35 "But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him".

how many NATIONS? ..... "EVERY" Nation, God is calling.

Chris uses the unbiblical definition of foreknowledge.
God knows the persons, because He has elected them out unto salvation.
It is not He looks and sees what they do and picks them.
She also misused 1 pet2, which speaks of gentiles who were formally non covenant people,now being Covenant people.
The OP. Is yet another denial of the biblical teaching of God electing individuals to salvation .
Roman's 9:11-22 is clearly speaking of individuals shown by one twin elected, one twin passed over.
It is not speaking of nations there.
The verse in Malachi was familiar to them, but that is not what Paul is speaking about. He is showing that among that nation,Israel...not every individual was chosen ..Roman's 9:6-11.
Anyone with Spiritual sight can see it immediately.

Sometimes Christianityboard is like the little strainer thing in the kitchen sink.
You wash the dishes and all the debris and leftover garbage gets caught by the strainer.

The God of the Bible rubs him the wrong way, rubs him raw. He’s the man of Romans 9:20. God must meet his criteria before He is worthy of getting his praise and worship.
