All of a sudden I am just wondering what is Easter and what are we celebrating ?
Man's word or is it what in the bible ....... GOD's word !
But according to Scripture, "the Lord's Day" is meant to be a weekly celebration of the resurrection, and at the same time a weekly Remembrance Feast of the crucifixion.
That is one aspect of the power of the resurrection, in that every genuine believer can walk in newness of life everyday. In that sense it is a celebration.I always thought that every day is a celebration of his resurrection.
As Paul said: For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. (1 Cor 11:26)What is a weekly remembrance feast?
How is commemorating the Resurrection of our Lord a "pagan ritual"??I don't celebrate Easter as I am not into pagan rituals.
HUH??Doesn't it change every year..... full moon equinox the first of Spring..the resurrection of the Sun god?
I'll go with the easter bunnies , which also represent fertility, spring..etc.
NO, I don't celebrate Easter...as @marksman said...it is a pagan feast.
Adopted , cleaned up , and sold to Christians as a religious holiday!!
HE IS RISEN...once and for all.
He doesn't rise again every Easter!!
It is now popular for Christians to attend the early morning sunrise service ...
not even realizing they are standing there worshipping the rising of the sun god!! How dumb and foolish can we be...
...and we wonder how the elect could be fooled by signs and wonders...most are fooled without the signs and wonders!!!

In the end, doctrinally it's about the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15), central to the Christian's faith and hope.I've also been doing a lot of research on Easter and its origins. Apparently 80% of Americans will be celebrating Easter and it's not in the Bible. Why does everyone keep celebrating?

Good to see you on the forums; my wife and I by God's grace meet with a Bible based non denominational local church.Thank you for replying. I'm a practicing Christian, non-denominational. I wanted to share it to hear more thoughts. Clicking on the link is up to you. :)
See the previous post. :)Ahh yes, I understand. Thank you for replying. I'm also just wondering if celebrating Easter (The way it is practiced today and I do more so mean the traditions during Holy Week and Lent, etc.) really honor Christ.
The King James version is the Bible, contrary to what some appear to believe.
Act 12:4, And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
Why do I keep celebrating Easter? Mind you, I do not celebrate the aspects of it concerning chocolate bunnies and easter eggs. I celebrate the resurrection of my Lord and Saviour on that day.
The devil wants to destroy Easter; for it represents the resurrection, the very thing that permanently defeated him. We have victory because of the resurrection! The celebration of Resurrection Day is not going down without a fight.

Interesting thread; in some Bibles the word Easter is rendered Passover. Luke 22 gives a wonderful view of how the last passover - looking forward to the finished sacrifice of the Lord Jesus at the Cross - developed into something new, as instituted by Him: the Lord's Supper, which looks back to the Cross and forward to His coming (1 Corinthians 11.26).
Exactly! :)Our religion is also based solely on the Bible or the Holy Scriptures.
Thank you for sharing. I understand. I'm in no way trying to dishonor the resurrection of Christ. Just wanted to hear more thoughts especially on the way Easter is practiced today.
I beg to differ...for Easter is one holy day that is mentioned. There are no holy days in the New Testament.

Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead...I do not find it improbable that the disciples would have been celebrating it by the time it was mentioned in the book of Acts.
The King James version is Bible.
Give documentation for this.It actually is not.
It didn't exist at the time of the writing. A Catholic ADD centuries later.
