You said earlier, "Jesus chose to equate His very SELF with His Church. THIS is the mystical continuation of the Incarnation that we're talking about. The Church is Christ on earth."

The church is made up of human beings, right? Jesus Christ, while He was born fully human, is divine; He is God. And yet the Catholic Church is teaching that "the Church is Christ" as the "mystical continuation of the Incarnation"? The incarnation is God becoming man (the Word became flesh). It certainly looks as though the Catholic Church is teaching that its members (i.e. human beings) are believed to be divine in some way. And yet, the only human being who has ever been divine, (i.e. who has ever been God), is Jesus Christ!

I know, I know, I just don't understand the Catholic position.......... I've been a student of the Bible for over 40 years, but Catholic doctrine doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps if Catholic doctrine was actually based on the Bible, I would understand it. But I have come to see Catholic doctrine as a massive labyrinth of unbiblical beliefs birthed in man's darkened, untransformed mind. I pray for the freedom of all who are trapped in this labyrinth!
Catholic doctrine doesn't make sense to you because you've been polluted by one or more of the tens of thousands of different Protestant doctrines. You only see the Gospel with Protestant blinders on instead of the way the Early Church saw it. When you read their writings, there is NO escaping the fact that they were fully and unashamedly CATHOLIC.

They professed belief in the Real Presence in the Eucharist, confessing your sins to the Church, Baptismal Regeneration, Bishops, Priests, Deacons, devotion to Mary, whom they referred to as the "Mother of God".

YOUR aberrant beliefs – and disbeliefs didn’t exist until the 16th century and beyond.

As for the Church being “Divine” – that’s NOT what I said. I said that the Church is comprised of BOTH Divine AND human elements – and even gave you the teaching from the Catechism. Now, you are subverted this once “charitable” conversation into just another anti-Catholic diatribe with your silly assumptions – and that’s unfortunate.

If you can’t wrap your mind around the fact that Christ is divine and WE are His BODY – then I can’t help you. Pray to the Holy Spirit for understanding . . .

@BreadOfLife you keep talking about us anti-Catholics being “spoon fed” lies, but I believe you’ve been spoon fed lies, too. View attachment 4338
The difference is that Catholics are spoon-fed by the Apostles and the Early Church Father who succeeded them.
YOU were spoon-fed by disobedient men in the 16th century and beyond . . .

Who was Pope over the apostles? Oh yeah, no one. Jesus is the only head of the church. Praise God!

Basically what you're trying to tell me is that it's wrong for me to not believe in the papacy because I believe only Jesus is the true head of the church and no man here on earth should have that kind of status/ruling. Would you say that I'm wrong to hold Jesus to a higher degree of honor and not have regard for the pope?

Best to forget those books.

As a new Christian I was trying to talk to my brother about the Lord. His wife was catholic so he fetched a catholic bible. I knew nothing of it but by God's hand I opened it to

Sirach 3:30 says:

Water extinguishes a blazing fire: so almsgiving atones for sin.

(Tobit 4:10 also says:

Because that alms do deliver from death, and suffereth not to come into darkness.)

I was able to show him the discrepancy between blood bought sacrificial atonement by the Lord Jesus Christ and man's doctrine of good works.

My brother did get saved and his wife stopped attending the catholic church.

Best forget about the false gospel and stay with the Bible. I still marvel at how I turned to that particular lie by "chance".

Mayflower STICK WITH THE BIBLE!

I once bought several books on cults so I could become expert on their devices. The Lord said "throw them away! If you'll spend your time reading the Bible you will know the truth and will be able to see every lie these false prophets speak". I burned those books.

To answer your first question in RED – actually, Peter was the first Pope (Matt. 16:18-19, Luke 22:31-32, John 21:19-26).

As for being “Head” of the Church – CHRIST is Head of the Church (Col. 1:18). Jesus made Peter the EARTHLY head of His Church – His Vicar.

Your last question is downright silly – especially if you’ve been paying attention– which you apparently have NOT. There is NOBODY higher than God – and NOBODY is making this claim – except for you anti-Catholics . . .

But a infallible (incapable of making mistakes or being wrong) human. Which in that case would make him no human at all, but divine

More lies
And once again, I have to deal with anti-Catholic myths . . .
I have already explained Papal infallibility on this anMANY other threads. It is not a “power” that the Pope has. It is acharism granted by the Holy Spirit – you know – GOD.

The Pope is prevented from TEACHING error in matters of faith and morals that are binding on Catholics. NOWEHERE does this doctrine state that the Popehimself can’t make mistakes or that he doesn’t sin. That would make himimpeccable.

So please – if you are going to argue this point – at LEAST try to understand WHAT you are arguing against . . .

It’s a good thing that Jesus and the NT writers didn’t simply “forget” the Deuterocanonical Books as YOU have.
There are some 200 references, quotes and allusions to those “forgetful” Books on the pages of the New Testament.
Your silly comments in RED show the depth of your ignorance – and that of your brother and his wife.
These are OLDTestament Books teaching about the OLD Covenant and the LAW. They do NOT teach about the sacrificial death of Christ in the NEW Covenant.
Proverbs 19:17
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

I agree with your LASTstatement – “STICK WITH THE BIBLE.”
HOWEVER – stick with ALL 73 Books as the Lord intended and NOT the thinner, man-made canon of 66 Books . . .

Thank great God Almighty that I was not submersed in denominational diversions from scripture. A little leaven... Like we read in

Luke 11:27 KJVS
And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

The beginnings of a great travesty.

This scripture, INTENTIONALLY included by God, identifies the very first convert to Mary worship. The rotten foundation of the RC church that places a woman on the level with God. Were Mary here today she would be the first to denounce this tabernacle of Ba'al that denies marriage, eating of meats and promotes their priests above attempted followers of Jesus and fills their buildings with pagan idols. Inventing doctrines of purgatory so that multitudes waste their time praying for those that are long dead.

Your head is filled with much but your heart is far amiss. Thank God my sister in law escaped the tabernacle of the child rapists.

If the RC church hadn't forbidden marriage (opposing God's ordinance) perhaps there would be fewer perverts standing in front of hapless congregations.

Blessed are those that come to God outside of denominational walls that don't have to spend a lifetime trying to shake off the false teachings drilled into them.

Oh my – it looks like somebody’s been reading 1 Tim. 4:3 with anti-Catholic blinders on instead of a sincere heart and a little historical knowledge . . .

Ummmmm, first of all – Paul is NOT referring to Catholics here – otherwise, he’d be condemning himself. He was talking about the Gnostic Heretics, who forbade marriage and all worldly possessions. They also forbade certain foods. Not only does the Catholic Church NOT deny marriage – we hold it on a much HIGHER plain than most Protestants.

Neither does the Church forbid meat. Abstinence from meat on Fridays during Lent is a DISCIPLINE – not a doctrine. I suggest you learn the difference before embarrassing yourself any further . . .

As for giving our priests respect – we are COMMANDED to do that in the Bible, my Scripturally-bankrupt friend:

1 Tim. 5:17
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of DOUBLE HONOUR, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

1 Thess. 5:12
We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are OVER YOU in the Lord and admonish you, . . .

Crack open a Bible once in a while, hmmmmm??

As for “Pagan Idols” in our churches – PROVE it.
Do you even know what an “idol” is?? An “idol” is something or someone other than God that is WORSHIPED as a god.

Finally – as to the “perverts” in the Church – perhaps YOU should clean up your OWN back yard before you go around pointing fingers about that . . .

let's not get personal here
let's keep it general
like, you're wrong and we're all right
simple enough
truth is truth...
In other words, you couldn't even come up with ONE.
That's what I thought . . .
