Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Those listed in Acts 1:12-14 were of one accord and were assembled together in Jerusalem.

Acts 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

The Jews and proselytes in the city investigated what was going on.

Acts 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

The apostles, filled with the Holy Ghost, began to speak in tongues.

Acts 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Speaking in tongues, as can clearly be seen above in verses 8 and 11, involves the ability given the apostles to speak and be heard in a specific language, not of their own. It was a sign given them to substantiate their ministry (Mark 16:17,20).

Peter, standing with the eleven, spoke.

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Pentecost and the filling of the Holy Ghost was prophesied by Joel. This was a fulfillment of prophecy in Joel 2.

Acts 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

In the above verses it should be noted that Peter was not addressing the newly formed church, the Body of Christ, but rather, Israel only. Peter preached Jesus as Christ and his resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus Christ would establish the future promise of His Kingdom on earth. This promised Kingdom would put him on the throne of David; enable Israel to reign and rule with him over the nations; and be a light of salvation to the Gentiles, thru the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Peter, in the above verses, states that Jesus is both Lord and Christ. Jesus rose from the dead, showing his deity, that he is the Son of God.

In verse 38 below, Peter shows that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, the Saviour of Israel, who alone can forgive the sins of the nation of Israel.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

Peter is offering the above promises of remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost to Israel and their children. Those afar off are Jews scattered into foreign countries.

Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

The believers were baptized according to belief in his name; the authority; and the identity of Jesus. They were added to them, the church of the Kingdom to come, the believing remnant of Israel, not the Body of Christ.

Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

They sold all they had and provided to all according to the commandment to Israel by Jesus in Matthew 13:46 and 19:21.

Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

They were in one accord as well. The church here is not the Body of Christ. The church here are the believers in Christ who were promised entrance into the Kingdom on earth. The kingdom which is postponed and interrupted by our Dispensation of Grace.

Jesus did say,

Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Beginning at Jerusalem (Luke 24:47)

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And ofcourse, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance

Acts 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Acts 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

Acts 2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

Acts 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Which were all of these

Acts 2:9-11 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

The numbers we see before this are here

Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

After Pentecost

Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

And to the same was added to the church daily

Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

In respects to the promise Jesus said,

Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

And so again as he speaks here of remission of sins

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The same was to be preaced unto all nations (or the Gentiles) in respects to the promise (the Holy Ghost) though beginning at Jerusalem (which they did)

Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

As is shown later in Acts 10:45 the Gentiles receiving the same Holy Ghost (which is the promise)

Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

I do not understand where you get that the Gentiles are not in the body of Christ

In Lue 24:47 Jesus told them to begin their preaching in Jerusalem and wait there for the Holy Ghost which would empower them to be witnesses

They were to preach to all nations which would be Gentile nations

The Gentiles which would believe would be added to the church......this church was not the body of Christ however because in Luke and in Acts 2 Paul was not converted

The body of Christ was revealed to Paul.............[1Co 12:27 KJV] 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular..........................It was now they were told they were the body of Christ

The church in Acts 2 and Acts 10 (which included Gentiles) were the believing remnant of Israel who would enter the kingdom on earth....Peter only preached to believe on his name that Jesus was Christ the Son of God......[Act 10:43 KJV] 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins...........through his name not the cross

Paul was sent to all nations to preach the grace of Christ........[Rom 1:5 KJV] 5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

Explain why Paul not being a Christian yet would have ANYTHING to do with another person's becoming a member of the Body of Christ upon being born again ?

Doug might be talking about someone without the Spirit (I think?) which I thought would be obvious.

There is one body

Ephes 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling

Jesus is the head of the body, called the church

Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

The body is one, having many members

1 Cr 12:2 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

And so likewise are we members in particular

1 Cr 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

For one Spirit (including both Jews and Gentiles) are we baptized into one body

Col 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

I am not sure what you were asking I guess
I thought you were asking why the Gentiles that were saved by Peter's preaching were not in the body of Christ....if so the short answer is the body of Christ didnt exist until revealed to Paul....Peter and Paul had different apostleships and were preaching different gospels and oversaw different churches

Those who believed what was preached by Jesus and the twelve apostles were in the church of God which was made up of the believing remnant of Israel (the little flock.....the Israel of God)

Those who believed Paul were in the body of Christ

You cant find the term body of Christ before Paul revealed it

The body of Christ IS the church, whether the term, "body" was used or not the church (which IS his body) existed. Even before Saul was called Paul, who was a persecuter of the church (his body).

When Saul was persecuting the church, he was persecuting Jesus

As Saul heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou ME?

Col 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

They were in one accord as well. The church here is not the Body of Christ.

Your verses state that these are saved believers who were in "one accord".

So, this is indeed the "body of Christ".

Everyone who is 'saved", is born again.. and everyone who is born again, is the "body of Christ".

Ok , I did find an article for what @Doug is saying here about Paul and the Body of Christ , never really heard it said this way .
@Verily ,@Behold , @Matthias

The Practical Beginning of the Body of Christ

Jesus on The Cross created the Church.
This is the body of Christ, and that is when the NT "church" began.

Paul refers to the body of Christ as "bought with a price".......so, this is speaking of the Blood Atonement.

"Purchased with His own Blood"... Acts 20:28.

So, until The Cross, this didnt happen, and since The Cross, its still happening every minute.

The body of Christ is a new creature not revealed before Paul.........there is neither Jew or Gentile.....there was a separation between Jew and Gentile in the church before the body of Christ

You got this from Paul not from Peter

This is mixing all the Bible up
There was a difference in Peter's apostleship and Paul's apostleship according to Galatians 2:8
a difference in their gospels
a difference in churches

What Paul did was explain it.
So, to explain it, it had to be there, first.

This means that the Cross birthed the NT "body of Christ", the Church,..... and later Paul revealed God's Plan, regarding "the time of the gentiles" that started with Jesus's Crucifixion.

Remember.. the word of God, is a book of progressive Revelation.... .so, regarding the birth of the Church.. .it happened before Paul wrote about it.

Actually you are "mixing it up".

For one thing... Peter's sermon in Acts 2, is not the gospel.

The Gospel that we use, that Peter understood once He met Paul, is "Paul's Gospel".

Also, Paul's Gospel of the Grace of God, is not "the Gospel of the Kingdom".

So, The Cross birthed the NT Church, and started the "time of the Gentiles".. and most of the body of Christ are Gentiles.

There is one Gospel, "in the time of the Gentiles"... and that is Paul's.
Paul preached to Jews also, Just like Peter, and Paul's gospel is the same for them, as its the only Gospel given by God, from the Time the Cross was Raised, until the Trib starts., and Paul revealed this "Gospel" to us.

For one thing... Peter's sermon in Acts 2, is not the gospel.
[Act 2:36 KJV] 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

This was the gospel they preached........they had to believe Jesus was Christ the Son of God ........see John 20:31
