Below is a Bible Scripture that the 'Hyper-Grace I Cannot Sin Anymore' crowd rejects...
1 John 1
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
In the above, Apostle John is speaking to Christian brethren about the Apostle's witness of Jesus Christ, having been with Jesus and were first-hand witnesses of His Ministry, death on the cross and resurrection.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
To walk in darkness means cutting ourselves off from Him by instead walking by our flesh instead of by The Holy Spirit guiding us. And it is very easy to get wrapped up into the things of this world that will cause us to stop listening to The Holy Spirit trying to guide us.
7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.
That above is basically what I was saying about our 'walk' in Christ. Apostle Paul taught this idea also in Galatians 5, for he said to walk in The Spirit means not doing anything that is against the law.
John is getting ready to tell us HOW... Jesus cleanses us from all sin when our walk is in Him but at times we slip up...
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
While in these flesh bodies, saying we have no sin, makes us a liar and the truth is not in us.
Like Paul said in Romans 6:7 "For he that is dead is freed from sin."
So of course the devil wants you to think that you cannot sin anymore after Faith on Jesus Christ, because didn't Lord Jesus die on the cross for the remission of sins? Yes, He did, but Paul showed in Romans 3:25 Jesus did that for "sins that are past", meaning our sins in the past we did before we believed on Jesus Christ.
What Apostle John is addressing here is about future sin, and the need to repent and ask forgiveness.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
John isn't speaking to unbelievers here. Even in the next 1 John 2 Chapter he starts it off continuing this subject and those he is speaking to...
1 John 2:1
2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
KJV
Only the believer on Jesus Christ has Him as their advocate with The Father. John includes those he is speaking to in that, which has to mean they were brethren in Jesus Christ.
Back to 1 John 1 to finish...
1 John 1
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
KJV
Apostle John is very direct and even blunt in the above. To claim one in the flesh has no sin anymore is to make Jesus a liar, and His Word is not in those.
That's pretty serious, isn't it? Well, that's how serious of a matter the false claim of having no sin anymore is.
Again, like Paul said, he that is dead is freed from sin (Romans 6:7). In Romans 7, Paul showed how our flesh serves and is subject to the law of sin, but our spirit delights in the law of God after the inward man (Rom.7:22).
This war between flesh and spirit will remain with us until the day we die, or when Jesus comes, whichever happens first. Just putting fake blinders on and saying we cannot sin anymore is not what John is saying to do. Instead, he is saying "that ye sin not", but if we do, those in Christ have an Advocate to The Father, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
And having Jesus Christ as our Advocate to The Father means we STILL NEED TO REPENT AND ASK JESUS FORGIVENESS when we do find ourselves in a future sin.
