Finally decorated for Christmas...how about you?

Got the wreath on my apartment door and put my two foot tree in front of the window.

My tree is not high enough for it to be seen outside. But I put it on top of a big Chinese (plant) pot and that lifted it up on the book shelf.

I tied it with ribbon to the top of the pot and shelf. It's a little bit precarious but I'm hoping it won't fall over!

Have many Christmas ornaments but haven't been bringing them out the past few years. Will see if I feel like it later this month.

I used to set all of the Hallmark ornaments and some cute snowmen and plushies on the long counter. Now and then would set out a Christmas village instead.

Do enjoy the cheerfulness of the lights and decorations.

I've been decorating and baking up a storm.
When I lived in an apartment I still cranked out 1,000 cookies every year plus gingerbread houses.

Now I have a house....so we set up the toy electric train around the tree and I do over a 1,000 chocolate truffles too.

All given away for Christmas.

I don't decorate for Christmas anymore. The kids are grown and the wife took off so what need is there to decorate?

Why is cuttng a tree down necessary anyway? I think it might be pagan. It's tied in somehow with that old burn the yule log thing where they burn the log and on Christmas they find it replaced with a living tree? Something like that. So I don't really participate in man's tradition of buyiing a christmas tree. Why should I? I even have been telling people dont buy me any Christmas presents, it's not my Birthday!

I could get behind a feast day like John is preparing. A day to get together with family and all celebrate the birth of Jesus together. Supposedly, december 25th could not be Jesus's birthday anyway because the facts are...that in Late December, Judea is impassable with snow. So no wise men made a journey in December to worship Jesus and give Him gifts.

Jesus was born earlier in the year. Some people say in September and others say it was in April in springtime. I suppose it doesnt matter which exact day that we celebrate Jesus's birth if we keep it all about Him. I don't have anything against getting kids presents when they are real little, but I aint buying my Brother anything! It aint his Birthday! Lol. So I'll save some money there, lol. (I didn't even buy a Turkey for thanksgiving this year!)

We have a little bit of a hard time investing in traditions right now because we're starting new things.

Kids will get things and I want to bake something nice for part of the community but other than that, I can't get myself to.

Teach the little ones that, it is Jesus Birthday and we love Jesus so we celebrate the day He was born! But in your heart you know, I gift to my child because I love them, not because it's Jesus birthday! Kids could understand that maybe?

My wife left all those expensive decorations and lights behind when she left so I sold all that stuff off in a garage sale, lol. Where I live now is a suicide pitched roof and I don't want to get up there. Too old to be playing Clark Griswold, lol..

We're just pretty upfront with them about it. We're doing it so they don't feel like they're missing out, but we never lied to them about Santa. Just told them what the Bible says.

We can decorate for the winter season if we want, but lately I have a really hard time with investing in things that are for a short period of time and I kind of feel like it's a marketing scheme.

Having said that, I like seeing other people's decorations and I think they're pretty.

We've put up our outdoor lights, but any inside decorations will have to wait until our smart and hyper and athletic cat Tiger is no longer with us, because anything I put up inside with him around will soon be no longer with us!

I wish I was your neighbor!!! Homemade cookies and truffles!!!

Your train sounds nice. When I was a child, my aunt had a train around the tree.

Also, would go to the (Pittsburgh) Planetarium as a child where they set up a massive train display....it had a few trains running, little buildings, homes, fair, etc, were all lit up. And they would change it from day to night.

Here it is....latter part of the video shows more of the cute villages. Display is over 100 years old.

This afternoon I put some little stuffed snowmen beside the little tree. Have a lot of nice decorations but can't bring much out now that I'm 74.

We always decorate the day after Thanksgiving :) that’s our home tree and the board in my classroom

I brought the Christmas stuff down from the attic Thanksgiving weekend. We bought an artificial tree several years back 'cuz I couldn't see shelling out $70 every year for a dead Frasier Fir that would look prettier as a live tree in a forest somewhere. The lights are programmable; we have them set to fade between colored and white, which gives different effects. The ornaments have memories: The miniature bells are similar to the ones my parents had growing up and remind me of my childhood. These miniature wooden toys are from our first Christmas together after we got married. This tiny needlepoint my Mom made for us. The Thomas Kinkaid ornament was a gift from my grandparents. The crocheted and beaded covers on the glass ornaments came from my ex sister-in-law; she's no longer married to my brother, but she's still part of the family. Here's one that came from one of my wife's oldest and most trusted friends. There are quite a few ornaments that the parents of the kids in my wife's elementary school and pre-K classes gave her; gosh, those kids must be grown up and have their own families now. This tiny little stuffed bear, that came from one of the ladies at church the year the Sweet Lady was being treated for breast cancer ....

Two years ago, decorating was really fun. Our granddaughter flew out from Texas for Thanksgiving totally unannounced. She jumped into Christmas decorating with wonderful enthusiasm. She brought us a gingerbread house kit which we had a blast putting together.
