What have YOU done to celebrate the holidays?

Are your holidays going to be rich, full, and merry?

Or

Are you hiding out waiting for them to be over miserable and alone?

This year, celebrating Thanksgiving at one of our daughter’s home…a bit different, as our USUAL is Family sit down dinner, maybe a family friend or two, that has not close family.
This year is NOT on Thanksgiving Day, at daughters home, and with Family and Lots of Friends….(about 50 + or so total)…Per our usual for Family…Family and Friends will gather in circle hold hands, Head of Family offers the Prayer of Thanks to God…
And THIS TIME OF YEAR “much” to be Thankful for Gods great blessings and response to earlier prayers!!

Probably, (hopefully), stay home on actual Thanksgiving Day, just the two of us, cook a nice meal….enjoy the day. (Hopefully, stay home, because of travel distance…even for the get together at daughter’s home…)

Glory to God,
Taken

My favorite holidays are Halloween and Mardi Gras. But to be honest as a horror nerd I kind of have that “Halloween is Eternal” aspect to my lifestyle. So I watch tons of horror all year. I almost exclusively watch horror. This year has been a fantastic year for horror being dropped all year. So when Halloween came the biggest event I was looking to was watching Terrifier 3 in theaters with friends. During fall and winter me and several others tend to spend evenings at this local nature park with spots to do campfires. The cooler weather in south Alabama means a reduction in biting flying bugs so you can enjoy it. Plus after fall back it starts to get dark around 5pm and so by 530 it’s dark and we can eat dinner together while sitting around a campfire. We don’t really tell
Scary stories as much as listening to them as podcasts on a speaker. We will pick a show that is nice production and we are looking forward to it. Instead of listening to it solo we will meet up once a week and listen to an episode or two while fellowshipping. Every Halloween me and some friends also bike 31 miles in a group of about 10 cutting through several neighborhoods and subdivisions that do good decorations.

For thanksgiving I tend to go to this local pow wow by the local tribe. Some of my friends are part of the tribes ecological group and so I chill with them. Watch the pros dance and then many of us eat Amanita mushrooms and dance merrily having fun. My ancestry is from Russia and Denmark and so we have some similar winter celebrations in my family.

As for Christmas I get a few gifts for my niece and nephew, and for some friends. I watch something by Burton or some kind of xmasy horror. I’ll visit my mom and stuff. I go to the downtown tree Xmas show. I’ll hike during that day usually or the day before or after.

When I was working, holidays meant time off from work. I'd also usually buy a special TV dinner for lunch. Now that I am retired, I guess I do tend to take it easier on holidays, maybe there's something special on TV, and I still might have a special TV dinner for lunch.

last year, I was perhaps excited about the holidays, but they made me feel lonely and all I longed for was for the holidays to end. This year, instead of sweating the small stuff, I'll trying to make sure I get some free time or more time with my few friends.
