I realize that most won't agree with me about the two witnesses, but I discovered the pictured map above to be very interesting of how many countries and islands celebrate/recognize Christmas and the sending of gifts to one another.
(The gray areas are those countries that don't).

Rev. 11
[10] And they that dwell upon the earth shall REJOICE OVER them, and MAKE MERRY, and shall SEND GIFTS one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

So then, I see two realistic views.
1. Is the prophecy about "torment" to be only when the two witnesses shall appear, in the future, if at all?
2. Or is it an ongoing situation now, after the two witnesses had already appeared, in the past?

My question to myself has been: What KIND of torment shall people suffer, who then rejoice over the "two witnesses" being killed?
1. After being TORMENTED by the FUTURE two witnesses to come, shall people REJOICE over their death and therefore shall be glad and happy (rejoice) that they are dead and gone, thus escaping the two witness' torment towards them?

2. After reading/hearing about the two witnesses of John the Baptist and Jesus IN THE Gospels, who both had come, shall people suffer TORMENT, by realizing ones own sins that they committed, but then, having regrets/TORMENT about their sins, it leads them to repentance towards God, whereby the person REJOICES in being forgiven, through faith in Jesus?

Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts,

Jerm 5:14 Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

Rev 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

Rev 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Rev 11:10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

Just as unrighteousness can vex/ torment the souls of the righteous, for example here

2 Peter 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed/tormented his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

The same could be vexed/ tormented in the presence of the righteous in the following sense

Isaiah 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

Isaiah 30:11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

Thanks for your reply.
You quoted Isa. 30:11 about "the Holy One of Israel".
I perceive that you are agreeing with my line item #2, that John the Baptist and Jesus were the two witnesses, as prophesied of in Zech. 4:14, and that there are no others to come, "before that great and dreadful day of the LORD". Malachi 4:5

No not necessarily, just posting to the topic in respects to the vexing/tormenting.

Just adding to the thread without wrangling with you concerning what you are posting.
