What is truth . Many believe they know and yet know not the truth .
Cursed are they whose hope be in men . Blessed is the man whose Hope is in the LORD .
You been heeding the wrong men friend . Many have come to deceive .
And as they holler it was men who wrote and inspired the bible
many seem to forget that its men of today who are simply pumping out their own false knowledge
and doing all to try and cause people to doubt in what GOD has said , what GOD inspired through TRUE MEN
in that bible . Carnal wisdom is always learning and never able to come to the truth .
And many who heed the flesh sure seem to love its wisdom that be contrary to GOD and to HIS words .
Amen, friend. The Bible was written for us to read— It is the Word of God. Over and over, our Father tells us, “It is written.” God, the Creator of heaven and earth, wants us to read this Book that He Himself inspired and wrote through all the prophets and apostles. In Matthew 21:16, Jesus says:

…and said to Him, "Do You hear what these are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes. Have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise'?"

I have rid myself of all commentaries written by men, including the most expensive. I had a complete library as a minister. However, I received a vision for me to rely on the words of Jesus in the bible and use the Holy Spirit to teach and preach from.

Amen. Man’s understanding can be flawed but God’s way lights a straight path for us to follow.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Yes. I found errors in most of my commentaries. Rule 1- don't talk about things you haven't experienced. If the Holy Spirit does talk to you, don't say He doesn't talk to anyone and, if you haven't talked to or seen angels, don't talk about angels.

It has been an interesting journey with the Spirit Father sent to be with us and in us, being led and guided into truth. Yes He has led me to experience a lot of things through which truth has emerged.

Yet another way He reveals truth to me us through pictures or parables which I pass on to others in case they are for them more than me. This is 2 ways in which He speaks to me. I love it.

So yes, to have testimonies, real life experiences as a child of God, is to be led by the Spirit of Christ, the same Person Who led Christ, brought Him back from the dead and took Him to His Father's side in heaven.

This same Spirit is and will do the same for us. We are and will walk as Jesus Christ walked. Glory to God for He works in us both to will and do of His good pleasure.

What constitutes the scriptures? What specific scrolls? When did they start and when did they finish? Or have they finished? Lastly, who determined the above?
Is anyone able to answer these questions specifically? A reason being is that people hope to find Christ in the scripture as He said, they speak of Him. Actually, were the scriptures Jesus was refering to completed? Or was Jesus refering to a complete, closed, finished scriptures here?

Did He close the scriptures or did humans do that later? When did the scriptures become known as the bible, closed canon? Or is it?

Any answers?

I keep it simple my friend. The Spirit of Christ in heaven and my spirit on earth communicate together just as we are on this forum. Even though we have not seen eachother in person. Same with Christ and I. The connection is by our spirit. This is awesome. Through this means I have been able to get to know Christ much more.

Personally, as mentioned before, we (our spirits) don't use the bible or scriptures but communicate by other means. It took a little while to let go of the former means, the bible, and embrace the new. I have a testimony, a story, experience in being led by the Spirit of Christ. This is awesome. He is awesome.
Cursed are they whose hope be in men . Blessed is the man whose Hope is in the LORD .
You been heeding the wrong men friend . Many have come to deceive .
Someone quoted Jesus words spoken 2000 years ago.

He who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.

I dont listen to any other voice. I walk away from them. I listen to Christ's voice through His Spirit.
My questions were pretty simple. I thought they could be answered specifically quite easily as people place so much importance on the scripture and their bibles.

Scripture is inspired by God. They are His Word. They are His commands to us. They impart knowledge about what has happened in the past, what is happening now, and what will happen in the days ahead. He desires for us to take in all of His words and absorb them and understand them.

2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Yes! At the end of the book of the Bible....

Revelation 22:18-19 reads:

18) For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book (BIBLE) If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19) And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book (Bible).

No disrespect but I'm looking for specifics relating to the compilation of individual scrolls that were first refered to as scriptures. Then continued till the bag that contained them got too full or heavy or for some other reason.

Does anyone know that reason? Why did they stop at 88 scrolls/books?

Paul gave a reason why he and others should divide the word of truth which he preached. For the words of God aren't bound, even though Paul himself was. The Spirit of Truth within Paul, Who possessed him, could never be bound in a physical prison nor in Paul a physical human being. The Word of God's Spirit, Jesus said, is like the wind blowing wherever He desires.

Why do we ever want to bind, restrict, limit, imprison Him which is impossible, especially in a compilation of scrolls/books, even billions of books. They would ALL fall short in scope and volume, or would that be enough for some. It appears so.

What do you believe?

What!!! Written in what scroll? Why did you ADD to what John said after quoting him and presenting the severe consequences of such an act.

18) For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book (BIBLE) If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.

You are not the only one Junchosen, many have. Some have added 65 other scrolls to his. Dangerous!!!

After doing this others decided to remove his whole scroll from the bag of other writings (scrolls). It was a good thing to do hey.

John's scroll, the words of the prophecy of this scroll, written in this scroll, and again, written in THIS scroll. Not other scrolls of which there were possibly thousands or more.

Have you never read, LatterRain,
Man will not live by bread alone but every word that comes from the mouth of God.

So 81, 73, 66, 84 books can contain every word that comes from the mouth of God?

That is impossible my friend!

For sure, read any of these bibles. But I certainly won't be attempting to this impossible task....trying to limit my Creator from communicating with me, His Spirit directly to my spirit way, way, way beyond the extremly limited 84 book longer edition of the bible.

Loosely speaking, yes.

Some people think the KJV is the word of God, but God did not speak to Abraham in English. Technically, I consider the Bible a translation of a recording of the word of God.

One problem is that there is no universal definition of the Bible. The Protestant Bible has 66 books; Catholic, 73 books; Orthodox, 81 books; Ethiopian, 86 books.

Let's arbitrarily fix a definition of the Bible as defined by the 66 books of the Protestant canon. Still, there is a problem: Which ancient manuscripts are the word of God? Matthew 17:21 is missing from NIV because of its choice of manuscripts.

Moreover, some passages are clearly words of God, Numbers 9:

Other passages are not so clear, 1 Corinthians 7:

In any case, whether it is direct quotations from God or Paul's personal opinions, 2 Timothy 3:

2 Peter 1:

Is the Bible the word of God?

Yes, loosely speaking.

No, if you want to be precise about it.

Is the Bible infallible or inerrant?

It is better to stick to the wording of the Bible and say that all Scripture is God-breathed.

How do the OT and NT Scriptures differ from other religious scriptures?

The Bible records history from the beginning to the end. It records the acts of historical figures (Adam, Jesus) and how they interacted with the one true God.

See also Was Acts 7:16 inspired?.

You kind of pointed this out. Bibles are not the Word of God, the scriptures are. And be sure to know that any serious studies should go back to the scriptures.

Also know that as the scriptures proceeded through history people added to the scriptures. That is why some Bible translations do not include newer texts. It is an obvious thing if you study the historical progression of the texts.

And to be more precise the Words of God are in the scriptures and so are the perceptions of man. For example men believed that the earth was flat and in the shape of a cracker supported by pillars.

They also believed in a “filament” above the earth that more or less was a solid dome. They believed that Noah could gather all the animals on earth in pairs and fit them on one ship. So the scriptures do not exceed the understandings of man as far as the physical aspects of the world. And sometimes stories are told based on those perceptions.

There are ONLY two things that have God's breath within them.

One is man as God breathed life into him.
AND
Scriptures as described in Timothy 3:16.

Dunno how else to explain the living nature of scriptures.....they are much more than words on a page.

This highlights why I moved beyond the bible. I found myself being convinced as you are JohnDB, that all truth was in the pages of the bible.

It's now so clear how short-sighted and deceived I was and that it was essential for me to repent of this deception of Satan.

It was believed that this was the great deception, the lie
that God sent.

They received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. 2Th 2.

That the bible, since it was compiled has been Satan's greatest and most used tool in his toolkit. And that this is the lie.... This compilation of 66 scrolls/books is the ONLY words that have proceeded from the mouth of God. That anything beyond these are not from the mouth of God.

Going beyond what is written is a greivious error.
We have a huge amount given to us by which we know exactly how to not be in opposition and to be pleasing to God.

Why would you deviate from that when you can't do everything laid out in the scriptures we currently have?
I've never met ANYONE who could live up to what scriptures explain....except Jesus and they killed him. You, being alive, haven't gone that far yet.

Again, who told them to only select those 73, 81, 66 or 88 particular scrolls and refer to them as the scriptures? Did anyone, of those who's writings were selected, state what your claiming?

Who said 88 books contain all that the church, the body of Christ requires and that we should only read and live by ONLY these books?

Give me a relationship with the Person, the Holy Spirit of Truth Who has access to the full spectrum and exhaustive volume of Truth that is found in the Father, any day.

This volume of truth would make what's in the longest bible seem like a drop in the ocean.

Who told you this? Within the bible you won't find this statement.
We have a huge amount given to us by which we know exactly how to not be in opposition and to be pleasing to God.
Have you seen the actual amount of information God has available to us by which we know EXACTLY how to not be in opposition and to be pleasing to God?

If you were to comprehend this volume your estimation of huge would probably be reduced to hardly anything.
Why would you deviate from that when you can't do everything laid out in the scriptures we currently have?
I've never met ANYONE who could live up to what scriptures explain....except Jesus and they killed him. You, being alive, haven't gone that far yet.
Just because no human has eaten every variety of rice available to mankind (over 120,000 varieties), doesn't mean they shouldn't eat anything beyond rice until they have tried every last one.

What an extremely limited diet that would be. But if they choose to try this nearly impossible task then fine.

But what's not fine is when this person tries to discourage others from deviating from their rice only diet.

Give me access to the full array of truth found in the Truth, Jesus the Christ. For sooooo little truth which Jesus taught was ever recorded.

Yes you will.
But because you don't know scriptures you do not know who said it or where it can be found. And it's in the 66 you so readily dismiss.

The other "books of the Bible" have never, will never, or are ever considered to be scripture. They are "along side" books used to help explain some references found in scripture.
