In response to ongoing concerns about my "negative" topics...
Perhaps one or two with a positive direction would be in order. ???
I still needed a captivating topic title. So there's that.

What's so great about Jesus?
- He didn't write a book, or even his own Gospel.
- Didn't hold a political office, even though we call him King.
- He didn't work within the established religion that he was raised in.
- In fact, he was quite critical of that religion.
- Nor did he defend Israel against Roman occupation.
- Nor prevent that government from carrying out his capital punishment.
- He died a criminal's death.

(hang on, I'll get to the positive stuff here soon)

What's so great about Jesus? (cont'd)
- His birth was special. Born of a virgin.
- His family escaped to Egypt. Avoiding the slaughter of innocents.
- Grew up in a small and insignificant town. "Can anything good come from Nazareth?"
- Raised as a carpenter's son. But didn't take over the family business.
- He had another Father's business to be about.
- Lived his adult life as a homeless person.
- Called twelve disciples to join him in his homelessness.

(be patient, we'll get to the positive stuff here soon)

What's so great about Jesus? (cont'd)
- His Father's business was...
- to proclaim good news to the poor...
- to proclaim freedom for the prisoners...
- recover sight to the blind...
- to set the oppressed free...
- AND to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

(that was positive, right?)

What's so great about Jesus? (cont'd)
- Turned water into wine. (before his time)
- Became a sensation among common folks.
- And a thorn to the religious leaders.
- Left us with some significant teaching about how to live.
- But more than that, showed the way to life.
- Gave his life to save us.
- And rose from the dead on the third day.
- Promised to return some day. Maranatha!

I'd say that's pretty great.
How would you answer the question?

What's so great about Jesus?

Everything is great? Is it?

...

--- PARODY ---

Christian: You should become a Christian.
Victim: Why on earth would I want to do that?
Christian: Huh? What do you mean?
Victim: Christians are the worst people on the planet.
Christian: No, sinners like you are the worst.
Victim: Seriously?
Christian: Yes, that's what the Bible says.
Victim: Doesn't it also say not to judge others?
Christian: I'm not judging you. That will come later.
Victim: Like when?
Christian: After you die without Christ.
Victim: Are you talking about a forever burning hell?
Christian: Yes, that's where you are going.
Victim: How would you know?
Christian: Again, that's what the Bible says.
Victim: But what do you say?
Christian: I agree with the Bible.
Victim: You are proving my point about why I don't want to be a Christian.
Christian: Why not?
Victim: I don't want to be like you.

Indeed.

My friend Tommy is an atheist.

Said he read the whole bible and he became and atheist.

That's his opinion, he calls me religious but I believe in faith without religion.

Do I hate Tommy? No.

That's actually a good reason to do so.
One can't come to an understanding of what faith
is like unless they hear a personal testimony,

Reading the Bible is a good reason to become an atheist? So you've never read the Bible?

I don’t know Tommy’s story.

I would like to meet him next year and pay for 150$ interview.

Update you sometime then. If the Lord wills it to be so.

150$ interview?
What's up with that?
Is that how he makes a living?

He a fancy professional producer. I’d pay for my own personal interview setup by him; it would be interesting to understand what why and how and respect his story. I can not change anyone’s mind nor do I desire to; that’s between people and God. Even atheist could have the spirit of Christ in them; so I don’t judge my neighbor that’s Yahavahs job; he looking at the heart.

My flesh does all kinds of things but in Christ; I strive to abide in him as much as possible.

He claimed to be God and proved it by rising permanently from the dead. With such claims, he was either insane or he was indeed God. His fulfillments of many Old Testament prophecies and his abundant miracles also proved his full deity with the Father and the Holy Spirit (the Gospel of John) as the one true God.

Careful. You are skating on thin ice to say that here.

This is pretty great, even if I'm not a tax collector. (But my uncle worked for his state's Department of Revenue, so he could relate to the "tax collector" sayings.)

Yes.
I love this one too.

Matthew 21:31 NIV
... Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.

I could never skate well (weak ankles). tsml Why do you say that? I'm defending Jesus' greatness as one of the Persons of God.
The forum doesn't allow that controversy to be discussed. To volatile, I suppose.
I'll try to find the rule against it. I had one of my topic closed because some vague reference to it.

Do you mean that we can't voice the truth that Jesus is God as one of the three Persons of the Trinity? Why? If not, I say goodbye to this forum. I can discuss everything rationally, not emotionally. If I'm not allowed to, I'll find another forum to freely discuss my faith.
