Thank you for taking the time and sharing these doctrinal treasure troves. There's so much to unpack in the last three of your posts, I could spend the next three weeks studying all the theology they contain. I'm somewhat overwhelmed, and it would take a long time to respond to every point you made, but I can assure you I didn't see any red flags in anything you shared.8 But to the Son He says:
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A [f]scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
10 And:
“You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
11 They will perish, but You remain;
And they will all grow old like a garment;
12 Like a cloak You will fold them up,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will not fail.”
Malachi 3:6
“For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
Numbers 23:19
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Micah 5:2
The Coming Messiah
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”
Psalm 93:2
Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting.
Ezekiel 26:19-21
19 “For thus says the Lord God: ‘When I make you a desolate city, like cities that are not inhabited, when I bring the deep upon you, and great waters cover you, 20 then I will bring you down with those who descend into the Pit, to the people of old, and I will make you dwell in the lowest part of the earth, in places desolate from antiquity, with those who go down to the Pit, so that you may never be inhabited; and I shall establish glory in the land of the living. 21 I will make you a terror, and you shall be no more; though you are sought for, you will never be found again,’ says the Lord God.”
It's very rare for me to read through so much material and agree with everything. But it is very encouraging to hear from others who embrace the bible doctrine of Gods sovereignty in all things. Most Christians are happy to ascribe a measure of sovereignty to God but they add boundaries and limit God's sovereignty to the extent that it doesn't encroach on their free will and autonomy.
I get the sense that you believe that, nothing is off limits to God and He predestined all of mankind's history from the beginning to the end, and nothing has ever happened apart from His will. Most reject this doctrine, because in their view this would make God unfair. They usually say that according to this doctrine, God creates people for the specific reason to torment them in hell. But they ignore the fact that those who are cast into hell, lived their lives in open rebellion against God and they served sin and Satan.
I'm sure you've heard all the arguments from the "free choice camp", who resent the doctrine of Gods sovereignty, in election and predestination to salvation, before He created the world. This is the most rejected and hated doctrine of all, it is estimated that less than 10% of professing Christians believe this doctrine.
I believe the reason it's rejected and hated by so many Christians, is because they try to rationalize Gods ways, (which are infinitely higher than ours). When you try to get into the mind of God, and try to figure out how He does what He does and why He does what He does. You fail before you begin, because His ways are past finding out. Our minds are too puny to fit God into them. He is outside of His creation, He is separate to us, His ways are mysterious.
There are many scriptures which confirm that God keeps many things hidden from us. Some would say it's not fair why doesn't He tell us everything we want to know. I believe He hides those thing to protect us, if He revealed what we want to know, it would blow our minds and damage us. So I believe He protects us from ourselves, by not revealing everything we want to know. He forbids fortune tellers and Witchcraft for this very reason, He said today's troubles are enough for you to deal with, but we foolishly want to burden ourselves with tomorrows troubles as well and lose sleep and worry about the things we can't change.
It took me around four years after I was converted, to accept Gods sovereignty in all things. I couldn't deal with the thought that some of my family members are not chosen for salvation by God. I couldn't understand how I could enjoy eternal paradise, while some of my beloved family members and friends are being tormented in hell.
I finally embraced this bible doctrine after a Deacon at my Church reminded me that Gods people will receive the mind of Christ, in the life to come. He said when you receive the mind of Christ, you will agree with everything God does and you will love Him for it and praise Him for it.
He said, I won't shed a tear for anyone because I will understand that God is perfectly just and His punishment will be no more or less than they deserve.
I no longer question anything God does, I simply trust and obey Him. He has removed the burden from me and set me free to enjoy Him.
It's not natural for man to relinquish autonomy and so called freedom, to follow Christ. We naturally want to be in control of our lives, and we want God to conform to the image we have of Him. But that's not Gods will for His people, He wants us to put Him first in all things and to love Him above everyone.
Then He can bless us with every good thing, if we try to hold on to our will, He will let us have our way but it's always to our own detriment and we pierce ourselves through with many sorrows. Then we come back broken and repent, and He restores us. We eventually learn to trust that His ways are infinitely better for us than our ways.
Job 38:4-7
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements?
Surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
