Now wait a minute, You just said yesterday that you Are a Christian. Within hours yo start a thread titled, Why I am not a Christian? That does not compute for me. Are you or not?
You and are binary thinkers. Our friend, @St. SteVen is a multiple choice guy, where he is ‘open’ to multiple choices simultaneously.

I thought he was clearly talking about the designation others assign to him. Why can’t he identify as being a Christian while simultaneously not subscribing to doctrine X?

In many threads, I’ve stated that I take a person at their word of what his/her religious affiliation is.

The fundamental question he poses is a good one. What necessary beliefs, reduced to their irreducible minimum, must one hold in order to be deemed "Christian?" What factual propositions must be believed true in order to make the cut?

Your beliefs aren't what determines if you are a Christian. Baptism into Christ does that. Either you are regenerated or you are not.

God makes this easy, "all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Christianity is not an intellectual enterprise, it's a spiritual union with God.

And the person who has this union with God will show it in their lives, exactly as the Bible describes, in love, in faith, in serving, in all the ways it says.

Much love!

Agree.
In Christianity, there seems to be a whole lot more concern about the frosting than the cake.

God makes this easy, "all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Call upon that name in what sense? Matthew tells us that "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

Christianity is not an intellectual enterprise, it's a spiritual union with God.

And achieving that union without believing the truth of His word is possible? If so, your challenge to @St. SteVen is going to fall apart rather quickly.

In a real sense. How do we know it's real? Because we change, from faithless to faithful, from those who disregard God to those who worship Him.

I've not challenged anyone except to read his posts with discernment.

Much love!

Thanks.

I suppose this means you are a JW?

Heaven on earth is still heaven. Right?

[
you sure have a twisted idea of Christianity and as for calling me a JW you obviously don't know much BIble.
Heaven is heaven but it is not for humans.
Jesus said that - are you calling Jesus a liar?
Get a good KJV Study Bible and read it.

I can think of a few scriptures that I started taking more seriously.

1 Thessalonians 5:22-23
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ..../KJV

Luke 21:36
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man..../KJV

1 Peter 1:15-17
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:.../KJV

Proverbs 4:14-15
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away..../KJV

Exodus 23:32-33
32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee..../KJV

There's grim warnings all through scripture. I heard a sermon from a Pastor one tie and he was talking about Sodom & Gomorrah. And one blurb he said was that, It wasnt just that some people were gay there that he destroyed them, but along with the heterosexuals in the cities were indifferent to the gays and generally acceoting of them. And that, being accepting of them is coming into agreement with them, and their God which I guess is the spirit of Homosexuality? And that spirit isnt of God, so because they entered into agreement with them was rebellion against God. So they got destroyed too.

I have felt the terror of the Lord so that makes sense to me to...be careful what I am accepting of and who I enter into agreement with. When you enter into agreement with someone, you also enter into agreement with their God. So I like to play it safe.

This is why I cringe at being called "Christian". We need to be careful who we come into agreement with.

Read his posts with discernment.

What has your discernment found? That @St. SteVen is not a follower of Christ because he asks questions? Has he denied what for you are some essential Christian beliefs? Perhaps what is essential to him is not essential to you.

You'll need to read his threads for yourself, and come to your own conclusion, and you may not agree with mine. For myself, I look at the questions he asks, and the way he engages others, and I ask myself why is he on a Christian forum, and the answer seems to present itself.

Much love!

I have read, I believe, all of his OPS because at times he has asked some interesting and pertinent questions. Only a few I did not like or they did not interest me and I read no further. While I do disagree with him on points, I am unable to come to your conclusion.

That's sort of where I am with it. Except, in his threads promoting gay acceptance and "Celebrate Insanity" and all that, I felt compelled to say what I believe to be right because I think it is a grave mistake to come into agreement with something like that.

I have the same bible he does and I know what it says about gays, and I see all those other warnings and admonitions to be careful and, yikes, I dont want to take the chance.
Celebrate not answering that door. But! Who will stand for what is right? So sometimes I will respond to them.

Wow! Thank you.
You really encapsulated nicely what I am about.
I appreciate you and a few others that get it.

Most of my longwinded responses are probably behind me even though I might be strongly on one side or the other. I say, probably, because I am listening to the Lord in spite of my nearly 81 years in the flesh. God wins the arguments, if they need to be won. I hope that I am always available to be used when and if He should call me.

If I spoke out against racism, would that make me black?
Racism is a MYTH created by those who want to divide and conquer America! I am not white. I KNOW it's a myth! Liberals are filled with hatred, leading gays to Hell fire and murdering MILLIONS of babies for $$$!
It is also written that those who engage in hatred will not inherit the kingdom of God.
And those who defend being gay HATE gays! They are leading gays to Hell Fire.

Galatians 5:19-21 NIV
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before,
that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
I Cor Gays are heading for Hell Fire!
