Matthew 13:18-23 KJV
(18) Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
(19) When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
(20) But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
(21) Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
(22) He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
(23) But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The seed on the path has no effect on the hearer. They don't understand it, and it goes away from them.

The seed in the stony place is the one who likes what they hear, they receive it with joy but there is no root. They are having an emotional experience, but not spiritual. So when they are tested, they are proven false.

The seed in the thorns is the one who hears the word, but it bears no fruit in them, because the cares this age, their coveteousness, leave no room for the word to bear fruit. “He becomes unfruitful”, the antecedant for “he” is “the word”, the word is not fruitful in such a one.

The seed in the good ground is the one who hears and understands the word. Both of these, hear, and understand, are present active participle, something you do continuously. This is the one who bears fruit, this is the true believer, disciple, child of God.

Much love!

In the second example, they believed for a while, then fell away. What did they fall away from?
In the third example they kept getting sidetracked by things of the world. Jesus did not say they fell away, only they did not mature. You mature by evermore practicing right from wrong.
How many christians produce a bountiful harvest, thirty, sixty or a hundered times what was sown? Leave roon for discernment, not just theology!
BTW
How could satan snatch the seed out of the heart that was sown there-the first example?

The Parable of the Sower is a history of the beliefs of Israel from the time that God's presence filled Solomon's temple. This same history was given to us by Ezekiel.

Where God's gathering of the Israelites to himself, is recorded in the scriptures, His promise has always been that He would plant them in His fertile field and teach them about the religion that is to become the greatest mountain on the face of the earth.

Co-incidentally, in Genesis 12:3, God told Abraham that Israel will become a blessing to all of the peoples of the earth that also inhabit this same fertile field. To find this truth look for the meaning of H:0127 in this verse, and it certainly does not have the meaning of land as many of our translations suggest.
