I didn't KNOW he was a 'bad choice' until AFTER that. Unfortunately,, they don't all wear their true selves on their sleeves from the get-go.
Well, you have to learn early to watch for the red flags. I started the wrong girl once. We went to McDonalds and were eating and all of a usdden she had a newspaper out and a pen in her hand. I siad, whatcha doing? And she said looking for a place for us. I already knew that I didnt want to play house with her because instead of red flags, she wore a red cape (sic, lol). But I had seen it. And she tried to pull a fast one on me, lol. I said, I'll be right back I have to go to the restroom...And I ghosted her! I left her sitting there Lol! But she never had my baby and I never married her. (She chased me for TWO years!)
Who knows. I never did. I already knew a LITTLE about gun safety by that point.
Yeah, most of us westerners grew up around guns.
Sure. I can see that. But the good news is, that she could probably take care of herself...and others...IF you're not around.
That's the idea because I have to work everyday. I had the kids up there at the range at around 3 yrs old and by the time they was 10 I was letting them keep loaded pistols in their bedroom (Yikes!), but I had already had them hunting with me, and I never did stop drilling them about gubs & guns safety. And I taught them, if I'm not here and something happens, save mommy! Save your mom! (every little bit helps when you have a home invasion going on!)
And nothing bad ever happened either. One night when they was 12ish. they had friends over in their room and I was out in the LR with mom and the older son calls to me and so I go to see what he wants. He said Dad take all our pistols for now, ok? Because the one kid is ok, but I'm not sure about the other one...we can get em back later, I have to go to bathroom sometimes and dont want him to be left alone with our guns!
Man! I was so proud of that boy! 12 yrs old, here hold the guns. I dont trust my friend!
Gun can not be child-proofed. The children must be gun-proofed. So when their at their friends and somebody pulls a pistol out of their dad's sock drawer...how to react! There is the safety!
Wow! Better? Ok! I'd take that in a heartbeat!
Ok I'll give you one. A big one! I didnt start getting real good with guns until I started paying a lot more attention to my trigger pull. When I started paying attention to my trigger, my skill level went way up! I started hitting consistently.
(There's 3 stages to a trigger pull. Feel every one of them as your are pulling the trigger.
First part is the take up on the trigger which doesn't fire it but takes you to the firing point on the trigger, Second part is the trigger pull itself and what you pay attention to feeling is the movement of the trigger (they call it Creep). Creep is no good. On a high dollar match grade trigger, you wont feel any trigger movement or creep through the trigger pull! The third part is the release of the sear, when it goes bang. How did it feel at the moment of let off? Crisp? Gritty? Funky? Good? Crisp is nice because it gives you surprise let off of the sear and goes bang. You dont, make the gun go off and jerk the trigger but rather press the trigger in a straight line and the gun goes off with a surprise Break. Don't make it fire,, let it fire, at that point, the gun goes bang but you are so focused upon the trigger (press) and the sights that you dont know when it was going to fire.
Actually there is sort of a fourth stage to trigger pull. After the shot breaks and goes bang...does the trigger keep moving? A lot of overtravel is not efficient. It is best to have the trigger be stopped at the moment it breaks the shot. That's match grade triggers also, for normal guns like you prolly have, you just deal with the over traavel of the trigger. It's of little consequence anyway. What you do is dry fire practice with it. Of course you double check that there is no amm even in the same room as where you intend to dryfire practice. No Ammo In The Gun!. Then you sit and watch TV or put up a target and practice paying attention to the trigger pull 5K times and you catch on. Your sub-conscious learns how to pay attention to the trigger pull. You get better....)
That brings us to the sights. If yur subconscious is paying attention to a good trigger pull, you can focus on your sights! Line them up and dry fire the gun without letting the front sight drift off of the target! Try different grips on the gun to see if one grip is more stable than another grip? Dont let that front sight move as you pull the trigger. A slight bit of front sight drift is to be expected. We all aint Dwayne Johnson and can grip the gun like it's in a vise, lol. You are holding the pistol and continuing to focus on your front sight (and your periphrial vison has the target in view)when your sights are perfect on the target you begin pressing the trigger and when the front sight drifts off the bulls eye the pressing motion on the trigger stops, then when you bring the front sight back perfectly in alignment with the rear sight you begin pressing the trigger again. And one of those times it (will go bang, I TOLD YOU To CHECK FOR NO AMMO!) Lol) or the hammer will fall if no ammo is in the gun.
It sounds like it might be hard, like there is a lot going on and not really, because your sub-conscious is doing a lot of it and it is actually pretty quick. That's why you dry fire 5K or 10K times (and practice it with live ammo at the range!) and it's not hard at all. There's just a lot to pay attention to, but your subconscious takes care of that. It's like Driving a car almost. You've been to that one store so many times that you could drive there in your sleep. Shooting is like that. Drive the gun. (and lock them elbows!). Front sight, Press, front sight, Press, fornt sight, Press BANG A Bullseye! .
Looking through the shot.
So many people that I have watched over the years...when they shoot, the close their eyes at the last second. It's like their scared the bang will hurt them or something. Dont do that! Look through the shot. You know the gun will go bang, force yourself to concentrate so hard on the front sight that your vision is never switched off. Let the gun go bang and even recoil in your arms. Yu cant stop it. So go with the flow. And continue to see the front sight on target even after the gun went bang. Where exactly was the front sight at when it went bang? (Then you can call your shots!). Look through the shot. The bang or recoil will not hurt you.
If your're hanging on tight lol.
Uh-oh. Feminists, the topic. Sorry, I like talking about guns and stuff, lol. Dont give your gun to a Feminist! Lol!
I got real good real fast when I paid attention to the trigger and sights.
Wow, that's prolly 4 or 5 hundred dollars in training I just gave to the world and my countrymen! Enjoy. Practice!
