Hey, I just realized you’re from North Carolina. Are you safe from the hurricane damage?

A coworker has an uncle and aunt from NC staying with family in Ohio until utilities are turned back on. Could be another week.
We got heavy rain but no damage. Thankfully we had just moved out of that cheap mobile home. It already had severe water damage.

The Woman Who Fears the Lord
Pro 31:10 A woman [Or “wife”] of excellence, [Or “strength,” or “valor,” or “ability,” or “efficiency”] who will find?
For her worth is far more than precious jewels.
Pro 31:11 The heart of her husband [Or “lord”] trusts in her,
and gain he will not lack.
Pro 31:12 She does him good, but not harm
all the days of her life.
Pro 31:13 She seeks wool and flax,
and she works with the diligence of her hands. [Literally “her palms”]
Pro 31:14 She is like the ships of a merchant;
from far off she brings her food; [Or “bread”]
Pro 31:15 And she arises while it is still night,
and gives food to her household,
and tasks to her servant girls.
Pro 31:16 She considers a field and buys it,
from the fruit of her hand [Literally “her palm”] she plants a vineyard.
Pro 31:17 She girds her waist in strength,
and makes her arms strong.
Pro 31:18 She perceives that her merchandise is good;
her lamp does not go out in the night.
Pro 31:19 Her hands she puts onto the distaff, [A stick or spindle onto which wool or flax is wound in preparation for spinning]
and her palms hold a spindle.
Pro 31:20 Her palm she opens to the poor,
and her hand she reaches out to the needy.
Pro 31:21 She does not fear for her house when it snows,
for her entire household [Literally “all her house, household”] is clothed in crimson.
Pro 31:22 She makes for herself coverings;
her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Pro 31:23 Her husband [Or “lord”] is known at the gates,
in his seat among the elders of the land.
Pro 31:24 Linen garments she makes and sells,
and she supplies sashes for the merchants.
Pro 31:25 Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the future. [Literally “to the day/time coming after”]
Pro 31:26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and instruction of kindness is upon her tongue.
Pro 31:27 She looks after the ways of her household,
and the bread of idleness she will not eat.
Pro 31:28 Her children rise and consider her happy,
her husband [Or “lord”] also , and he praises her;
Pro 31:29 “Many daughters have done excellence, [Or “strength,” or “valor,” or “ability,” or “efficiency”]
but you surpass [Literally “you ascend over”] all of them.”
Pro 31:30 Charm [Hebrew “The charm”] is deceit and beauty [Hebrew “the beauty”] is vain; [Or “vapor,” or “emptiness,” or “breath”]
but a woman who fears Yahweh shall be praised.
Pro 31:31 Give to her from the fruit of her hand,
and may they praise her works in the city gates.

The women in my family are strong and beautiful. I care about them a great deal but I noticed that the married ones who took on the burden of leadership in their marriages suffered for it, including my Mom. Those unmarried pursued independence but seemed unhappy with that as well.

My Mom didn't head the family just to be some boss babe. She felt she must have a career and lead us in order to give us a great start in life. But I saw the physical and mental strain this put on her. I saw that she honestly resented it at times.

We are tempted as women to envy the respect that men get. But are we willing to put up with as much crap as they do without putting the burden of leadership down? And if we are, is it worth the toll it takes on our minds and bodies?

The burden of leading the family wasn't always this great thing for my Mom and I saw this. Nor did financial independence or success salvage the lonely childlessness of many other women in my family.

The reality is that sometimes you want things not to be all on you all the time. But often, women can't. This is not how God wanted us to live. While it may be necessary at times, God's best will always be that women are sacrificially lead and are protected by a man they can trust.

When life gets hard, the playfulness and whimsy you had when dating can be hard to come by. But Ive found that its important to maintain these.

Even if things are stressful and serious for a season, keep your sexy. Borrow some of the playful antics of the pretty bimbo who pulls all the guys while staying grounded and loyal to your husband.

Its not easy. Life can be ridiculously tough and you'll want to toughen up to handle it. But keep your girlish side. Don't always be serious. Be frugal but sometimes, buy something just for fun to make things happy again.

Be modest to everyone else...dont be modest with your husband.

Don't get rid of all your impractical desires if you're pursuing discipline. Sometimes men rely on women being a slight element of chaos to break up the routine. Not drama or arguing. Spontaneous fun. Icing on the cake.

Be responsible...but don't be afraid to be a little "extra".

Ill say it.

Great wives are virtuous and sexy.

It's wrong that we associate Christian wives with prudishness. We should be the sexiest most confident women around because we know that sex is good in a married context.

Rachel was both virtuous and sexy. So was Esther. So was Sarah. So was Ruth.

Feminism - sadly, like so many words has modernly taken on new meanings….

I think of Feminism with being all-round LADY-like…natural, tidy, reserved, patient, caring, helpful, type qualities… but today that has transformed into fake freakish looks, competing with men rather than having worthy relationships with men, content to have ANYONE (even governments) rear their children rather than themselves…then are shocked when their children are involved in dubious activities.

How much sense does make that a child or married person spends the majority of their Awake hours with someone other than their parent…or another person of the opposite gender?

Glory to God,
Taken
I agree with you 100 percent, the WORD took on a new meaning as so many others have, it was not intended to be a movement, it was to uplift those refined female characteristics that as women were breathe into us, to perfect. A man that finds a wife finds a good thing, alluding to that woman being a good wife before he even finds her. We are the life giving ones, to children, ideas, dreams... an so much more.
