The JW- Watchtower (WTBS) claims it is God's theocratic Organization on earth. They claim that they were given this 'spiritual authority" between 1914 and 1919 when Jesus examined the churches, and found them to be the only ones delivering spiritual food at the proper time, thus to them, a fulfillment of a parable , Matt 24:45-47.
Bold claims such as that require a careful look. I will be examining the crucial period of 1914-1919. All of the WTBS claims stand or fall depending on the events of that time period.
If what they claim actually happened, then they truly are God's theocratic organization on earth. If not, then they are just another false religion who is deceiving their own followers, as well as the people they encounter.
* I will be using the WTBS own quotes.----- in blue.
"their 'master' apointed a collective 'faithful steward' class, the body of annointed Christians on earth since Pentecost 33 CE. Since the 'master' found the remaining ones of this body faithfully and discreetly giving out 'food supplies' when he arrived for inspection in 1919, he appointed them 'over all his belongings'." -- Watchtower pg 19-20 Sep 15 1983
So- the 144,000 Faithful Discreet Slave class began in 33CE and a remnant exists even until now. Founder, Charles Taze Russell agrees according to the WTBS.-

"Charles taze Russell, this studious Christian took note of Jesus' illustration of the 'faithful and wise servant'. (Matthew 24:45 AV), and published his understanding of it in the watchtower issue of November 1881, page 5. In the fourth and fifth-last paragraphs of the article 'In the Vineyard,' he said: 'We believe every member of the body of christ is engaged in the blessed work, either directly or indirectly, of giving meat in due season to the household of faith. Who then is that faithful and wise servant whom his lord has made ruler over his household to give them meat in due season? Is it not that little flock of consecrated servants, and is it not the whole body individually and collectively'.
From this it is clearly seen that the editor and publisher of Zion's Watchtower disavowed and claim to be individually, in his person, that 'faithful and wise servant'. He never did claim to be such. --God's Kingdom of a thousand Years has Approached pg 24, 1973
The WTBS provided proof that founder, Russell, believed this FDS 'class' was not an individual, certainly not himself, as early as 1881. As far as i know, that is still the current teaching.
=====================================================================================================
Why does the WTBS stress the fact that the 'faithful' servant' has always been a 'class' or a "collective body" as Russell put it, and not an individual?
Because if it was one man then they would be guilty of sectarianism or 'creature worship- The very thing they say that Christendom stands guilty of.
"Some define sect to mean a group that has broken away from an established religion. Others apply the term to a group that follows a particular human leader or teacher." -- Reasoning from the Scriptures pg 202, 1985
"The scriptures show that no man is at the head of the organization that Jehovah is using to accomplish the work of Kingdom-preaching and disciple-making. and those assocaited with that organization are not to look at any man as their leader."--Organization for Kingdom- Preaching, Disciple-Making pg 8, 1972
"WE ABHOR Christendom's failure to heed Jesus' message to the seven congregations at Revelation chapters 2 and 3 in such manners as sectarianism"-- Watchtower pg 18. 4/15/89
"in his farewell to the Ephesian overseers Paul warned that sects would be formed by apostate teachers who would try to draw away disciples after themselves" --Watchtower pg 52, 1/15/1958
"Since those who cause "divisions" and "sects" will not inherit God's kingdom, they will not be tolerated within the true Christain congregation" --Watchtower pg18, 9/15/1983
As you can see it's crucial to the WTBS that the fact be established that the FDS has always been a "class" and not an individual. And they have documented it well. This is only a smattering. ---------continued next page-
