They will be crying to the mountains….

In several places in scripture we see the people saying to the mountains and hills to hide them.

First after the Assyrian invasion, because Israel turned from the house of God “Bethel” unto a house of idols “Beth-Aven” or house of “vanity”, and iniquity, by worshipping the false idols of Bethaven.

Hosea 10:5 “The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

Notice what the people would say when this destruction came….

Hosea 10:8 “The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall “say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.”

Then again after the Roman invasion the likeness of this would happen again; as was also prophesied beforehand by Jesus.
Because of the "overspreading of abominations" Jerusalem’s house would be made desolate. Also notice where Jesus said Israel had turned the house of God into a “house of merchandise”. ( John 2:16)

And again it is prophesied they would say to the mountains and hills “Fall on us!” and “Cover us!”

Luke 23:28-31 “But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, “Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.”31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?”

And so then again in the book of the Revelation after the 6th seal is opened we see all peoples of the earth are again prophesied to say to the mountains and rocks “Fall on us” and “hide us”.

Revelation 6:15-17 “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;16 And said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us”from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”

God shows us these repeating patterns in scripture so we can get more insight into the symbolic language used to confirm a future event.
It is written in Ecclesiastes 3:15 "That which has been is now; and that which is to be has already been; and God requires that which is past."

So we need to look to the patterns shown in the Old Testament and in the New to better understand future prophecy.

And when Mystery Babylon falls we see the merchants would also weep because of their “merchandise”

Revelation 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

So in all 3 instances we see a connection with "idolatry" and "merchandise", just as "covetousness" (the love of money) is also shown as "idolatry" in scripture.

Ephesians 5:5 “For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”

Colossians 3:5 “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and “covetousness, which is idolatry:”

So our bodies being like "a temple" for God’s Spirit to dwell in,( 1 Corinthians 6:19). You can also see how one who turns to false idols, or to "the love of money," which is the covetousness of the heart; thereby they have also set up the false “idol” in the temple of God; in the "spiritual" sense.

And when this false idol is taken away and made desolate, the people who worship it shall “weep and mourn.”

Notice in James 5:1-3 “Go to now, ye rich men, “weep and howl”for your miseries that shall come upon you.2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.”

Revelation 18:15 “The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, “weeping and wailing,

Revelation 18:19 “And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, “weeping and wailing,”saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.”

So I believe, when the 6th seal is opened, there is going to be a great economic downfall which will begin “the time of the trouble such as the world has never seen”as mentioned in Daniel 12:1.

This economic downfall also begins the wrath of God being poured out on the Nations. As is shown here in Revelation 6:17 "For the great day of His wrath is come; and who will be able to stand?"

So keep yourself from idols, Peace and God bless

Notice in Rev. 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.”

What is being shaken like a “fig tree”

Nahum 3:12
All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

What are the “strong holds” of the rich and powerful? If you guessed money/wealth you would be correct.

That prophecy has already been fulfilled.
Oh no it hasn't.
It is fulfilled after the 6th seal is opened.
After the abomination of desolation has caused the heavens to depart as a scroll being rolled together. While the stars of heaven are falling to the earth ,they will be hiding underground. That is the reason they have built so many doomsday dens to hide in.That is their purpose.
Mathew 24
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Another one that is confusedcon-fused about the timing of events.
It's about bomb shelters and stars falling from heaven.

That's what happens when nations rises against nation and kingdom against kingdom.

Luke 21
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

The people who hide in dens underground ,go underground after the great earthquake and signs in the heavens in revelation 6.These things including the stars falling from heaven is from.nation rising against nation..No one was going into bomb shelters thousands of years ago after nation comes against nation.

The next Prophesied event that the world will experience will be the Sixth Seal. Revelation 6:12-17 Proved by how the first Five Seals were opened at Jesus’ Ascent to heaven. Revelation 6:1-11 All those things have happened, we have experienced wars, famines, plagues and economic disasters aplenty. Any more of those and humankind would have been wiped out.
The Sixth Seal worldwide disaster, of cosmic and earthly events is graphically prophesied in the Bible over 100 times, will cause the earth to shudder and shake, and move out of her place....Isaiah 13:13, Isaiah 24:19-20, Revelation 6:14
It will be just a one Day event, as the Coronal Mass Ejection explosion of the suns surface, that the Lord will instigate, Isaiah 30:26a, Psalms 50:1-3, will quickly pass; travelling at 3.5 million mph. But the strike onto the earth of a multi billion ton mass, of superheated Hydrogen plasma, will literally cause all the prophesied effects of the virtual depopulation of all the Middle East region, at md day; Zephaniah 2:4-5 and
Ezekiel 30:1-5, Isaiah 13:9, Isaiah 66:17, and cause worldwide devastation.
It won't affect the daily rotation of the earth, ask any scientist to tell you how totally destructive a sudden change to the earths spin would be.

What it will do is speed up the earth’s orbit by pushing the earth as it moves now at 66,000 mph on its orbital track. Just imagine it; a mass approaching a fast moving object, some may initially hit direct, then the main mass; pressing on the trailing side. This will speed up our 365.24 day year to a 360 day year. Isaiah 13:13
Making the time periods as given by Daniel and Revelation fit exactly!

Regarding the darkness on that Day: Amos 5:18-20, Joel 2:31,
The sun will be obscured by the approaching mass, then when it has passed, there will be smoke and ash clouds for possibly months. Isaiah 60:2

The effects of the earthquakes, storms and tsunamis. plus the moon shining bright red and the earths atmosphere being pushed aside, all our thousands of satellites crashed back to earth; are what a massive CME can and will cause.

Because this will be a seemingly natural disaster, those who disbelieve in God, will continue in their disbelief and when the Leader of the One World Govt demands worship of him, they will be happy to do so. Revelation 13:8

Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Where do you see any mention here or any indication of "a great economic downfall" or of a time of trouble occurring at this point? What type of trouble are you talking about and for how long? What is mentioned here is "the wrath of the Lamb" and that "the great day of his wrath is come". I don't see any indication of some period of time occurring after this during which there is "a great economic downfall" and such. It says "the great day of his wrath is come", not that the great day of his wrath is coming at some point after this with "a great economic downfall" occurring for some time first.

The wrath of the Lamb occurs on the great day of the Lord which is the actual day that Jesus returns. Compare Revelation 6:12-17 to this:

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The similarities are obvious. Both passages talk about the sun being darkened, changes happening to the moon, stars falling from heaven, heaven itself departing as a scroll and being shaken. The sixth seal is opened "immediately after the tribulation of those days" and that is when Jesus will come with His angels and His wrath will come down on His enemies (2 Thess 1:7-10). Do you think Matthew 24:29 refers to a time period before Jesus's return during which there is "a great economic downfall" rather than referring to the actual day of His second coming?

I covered that in my OP. You have to look at the wording, and the repeating patterns shown in the past.

That's not an acceptable response. Please address my points. We're talking about the second coming of Christ here. Do you see the similarities between Revelation 6:12-17 and Matthew 24:29-31? What is your understanding of Matthew 24:29? Does you see a time period of economic downturn happening there before Jesus actually comes with His angels?

At the sixth seal it indicates that "the great day of His wrath has come" at that point. Is the great day of His wrath not described here:

1 Thess 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

And here:

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Is Revelation 6:12-17 not describing the "great day of His wrath" when people wish they could escape it, but in reality "shall not escape"?

Sorry if you think that is an unacceptable response, but I laid things out very clearly in my OP. If you don’t get it, then you don’t get it.

What I don't get is why you won't answer any of my questions? You're not willing to ever address any challenges to your view or answer any questions for clarification of your view?

Do you believe that Matthew 24:29 is speaking of the same event as Revelation 6:12-17 or not? Is Revelation 6:12-17 not describing the great day of Christ's wrath having come? What does that involve? Do you believe that is described in 1 Thess 5:2-3 and 2 Peter 3:10-13?

What is your challenge to what I posted in the OP? You mentioned “the Lord coming like a thief in the night.” I didn’t mention anything about that in my OP. So how is unrelated scripture to the topic of the OP a challenge?

Matthew 24:29 is related to the topic, when “the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:”

So what is your challenge? Or is it that you do not understand what is being “shaken”?

Signs in the heavens and in the earth "before" the great and terrible day of the Lord come…
Joel 2:30-31; “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.”

Same signs repeat as confirmed by Jesus..
Luke 21:11; “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.”

Signs
in the earth and the heavens; also the signs specific to the sun, moon and stars ...

Joel 2:10; “The earth shall quake before them, the heavens shall tremble; the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.”

Joel 2:31;”The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, beforethe great and the terrible day of the LORD come.”

Joel 3:15; “The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.”

And the same signs are spoken of afterthe tribulation "of those days" (fullness of the Gentiles)

Matthew 24:29
"Immediately after the tribulation "of those days" shall the sun be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken, (note the powers that be now are of God in heaven)

Mark 13:24;"But in those days, after that tribulation, `the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25: And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

Powers shaken, things removed by the Lords voice…

Hebrews 12:26-27 26 whose voice then shook the earth. But now He hath promised, saying, "Yet once more I shakenot the earth only, but also heaven." 27And these words, "yet once more," signifies the removing of those thingswhich can be shaken, such as things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Those things shaken…

Luke 21:26
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

And again we read, He shall shake heaven and earth by His voiceHebrews 12:26; “Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.”

The Lord shall utter his voice from heaven… Jeremiah 25:30; “Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voicefrom his holy habitation; he shall mightilyroar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.”

Joel 2:11; “And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executes his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

Again the timing "after those days" (fullness of the Gentiles) and the events that will follow…

Matthew 24:29; “Immediately after the tribulation of "those days" shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

And again the timing, and events confirmed….

Revelation 6:12; “And I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;”

Revelation 6:13; “And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.” Revelation 6:14; “And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Same wording here in Isaiah 34:4; “And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

And again those things shaken and removed, and those things that remain.

Haggai 2:6; “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

Hebrews 12:25-28; “See that ye refuse not him that speaks. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.27 And this word, Yet once more, signify the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannotbe shaken may remain.28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:”

And finally some good solid advice on how to remain….

Luke 6:47-4947 Whosoever cometh to me, and hears my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a Rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a Rock.49 But he that hears, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”

Let your foundation be in the Lord our Rock, so that you might be able to stand and be firm in the faith, and not be moved. Peace

I'm asking you if you believe Matthew 24:29 is a description of the same event as Revelation 6:12-17? If so, when do you believe Matthew 24:29 will happen? It indicates that it will happen "immediately after the tribulation of those days" on the day that Jesus comes again, gathers the elect and destroys His enemies.

I already said it was related.

Which is at the 6th seal
on the day that Jesus comes again, gathers the elect and destroys His enemies.
Jesus does not return at the 6th seal. Again your time line of events is in ERROR.

Where is there any indication in Matthew 24:29-31 that everything described there doesn't happen on the same day? Nowhere. Your understanding is in ERROR. Your belief contradicts much scripture. Once the "tribulation of those days" is over then it will be time for Jesus return. Why would there be any delay in His return after that? At the 6th seal it says "the great day of His wrath has come". Why do you have that day coming some day after that?

How long of a time period do you believe there is between Matthew 24:29 and Matthew 24:30?
