Partaking of His nature of essence not His energy. The term is .misunderstood.I don't doubt your born again experience but can't find Scriptures to confirm what you are saying @Hepzibah since you told me you were "deified" 4x in the past-correct?
What makes you think I'm not? How do you know what I do and don't see in the Scriptures, and why?Brothers, you won't see it in a scripture unless you are hungering for holiness like you are starving to death.
Correct--Again, the same issue appears. Those who have died with Christ, being crucified with Him, are here admonised to not let sin rule in them, and to not yield their "members" to sin. These admonitions are meaningless if being co-crucified with Christ means we no longer sin.
Mark you say yourself you do not see it! If you are ahungering then God will reveal it!What makes you think I'm not? How do you know what I do and don't see in the Scriptures, and why?
Maybe you won't see it in the Scriptures until you are ready to lay down your perceptions of what you experience, and your opinions of those perceptions, and accept the written word?
That being said, I don't mean a word of it. Because I don't know you, or what your hidden motivations are, or anything about you. I just accept what you tell me, and assume you have good reason to say it.
And there is no need to refer to me as spiritually blind because I'm not sufficiently desiring holiness. Seriously.
I'll discuss the Scriptures all day long. Either some certain teaching is there, or it's not. You can chalk up my views to "ignorance based in immaturity", but I don't agree.
Much love!
No once
Mark you say yourself you do not see it! If you are ahungering then God will reveal it!
It is both. I never looked at the eff till a few years ago. I was delighted to find it.Correct--
Romans 6:19-22:
"I am speaking in human terms because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life."
1 Thessalonians 4:3-4:
"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor."
2 Thessalonians 2:13:
"But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth."
1 Peter 1:2:
"According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you."
Hebrews 10:14:
"For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified."
Philippians 2:12-13:
"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure."
Galatians 5:22-23:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
2 Corinthians 3:18:
"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."
Ephesians 4:22-24:
"To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness."
John 17:17:
"Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth."
Conclusion:
These scriptures collectively illustrate that sanctification is a process initiated by God through the Holy Spirit and involves the believer's active participation. It is characterized by a transformation towards holiness, a rejection of sin, and the cultivation of virtues that reflect the character of Christ. This process is ongoing, involving both God's sovereign work and the believer's disciplined response.
Now we have a problem-right? Instantaneous sanctification and ongoing sanctification--however, if you read the early church fathers you will know where this theology originates from @marks.
Yes, I can see and discern there is a problem here sister. And I don't want to be confused-@marks posted scripture and I did but it does not align with what you are saying here.Sorry wrong way round. Not His essence.
And now it's both? Are you saying sanctification is still ongoing? It is both. I never looked at the eff till a few years ago. I was delighted to find it.
It is a process which has a fulfillment. Then there is further growth but in holiness not towards it.And now it's both? Are you saying sanctification is still ongoing?
Give me three Scripture references on this @HepzibahDeification means to become one with Christ and share in His energies. It does not mean becoming a god.
Can you give me scripture references on this so I can follow your train of thought? And when does it have it's fulfillment, in this life?It is a process which has a fulfillment. Then there is further growth but in holiness not towards it.
I have just got up to set up my pc where l have files of writings l have done on the subject but it has crashed and is asking for a disc to reinstall and l haven't a clue where it is. It has never happened before so l only have my tablet which is slow. Can you give me scripture references on this so I can follow your train of thought? And when does it have it's fulfillment, in this life?
It is fulfilled when we cannot go on anymore in our lukewarm state and God reveals to us our wretched condition. If we are not there yet we will not be given light. We must set aside time to seek with our whole hearts. Can you give me scripture references on this so I can follow your train of thought? And when does it have it's fulfillment, in this life?
