The obvious hatred and contempt those in Christendom have for the name of Jesus’ God is disheartening.
Read in devotional reading today Rev 3.
Hi Wrangler,
I hope you've been able to set up a meeting with your pastor and it went well.
Allow me to respond here.
First of all, As I'm sure you are aware, "Christian
dom" is a derogatory term used by JWs toward Christians who believe that Jesus died for our sins.
Secondly, We don't have hatred and contempt. We simply pointed out the facts. If facts hurt their feelings I am not sorry for that. It is true that Jws on here do not use Jehovah like they do in day to day life. WHY?
I was raised in JW teachings so I would know. It's constant. Almost as if it's akin to a lucky charm. It's quite abnormal to be so obsessive in that manner. I have family member who made his daughter count how many times she used, Jehovah in a 1 page school book report. She said, 10. That wasn't enough- she was scolded to add more. Perhaps you need to grow up that way to understand.
The name of Jesus is merely a blip at the end of a prayer to Jws.
I was taught that Satan and Jesus are brothers. I even checked that recently and yes it was indeed taught.
Jesus is the ONLY name needed for salvation. That's what the bible says. So why the incessant use of Jehovah?
Isnt Jesus enough? (Yah is salvation)<-- yes, there He is.
To address why we dont use it is simple.
Jesus did not. He used, Father (sometimes Lord.) Those are the facts. Even in the model prayer, Jesus taught to use, Father, (hallowed be thy name) Notice, He did not pronounce a thing other than FATHER.
We trust Him completely.
It is far more intimate to call God, Father than by a name. I have never called my earthly father by his given name. Father is loving and reflects the relationship..
In Romans 8:15 -- For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
See? The children of God in the new covenant are calling out to
OUR FATHER!
Perhaps Jws don't cry out ABBA because they are not in the new covenant, not a part of the body of Christ, not annointed children of God...ect etc etc.
Aside from all of that, the Watchtower admits that the true pronounciation is lost & that Yahweh is likely correct. They know the vowels for lord and god in Hebrew were mistakenly added in by a monk in 1300s.
Yet we MUST use a known wrong one? WHY?
Also, name in the bible certainly doesn't mean vowels and consonants and that goes for Jesus' name too.
It's more about WHO HE IS and WHY He is and WHAT He Has DONE and WHo we are to HIM.
We can shout a name all day long and that doesn't count for anything if we dont KNOW HIM.
Hope that helps clear the air.
I have no interest in debating this with you.
Take good care.
