I was taught the same as you. It started with the ice cream cone and how God sees everything all at once. And then I read this book...

Mixing 'the spiritual book' with a 'fundaMENTALy heavy' one like this book, certainly explains to me why we don't get along very good at all. There's certainly not enough fellowship with you to spend any more time arguing IMO. :no reply:

This is nonsensical.

1st, it’s a stunning g lack of humility to assert you are in real control.

The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.
Proverbs 16:9

2nd, to the extent any of us have apparent control, it does not change the fact that God already knows how things will play out, including for you.
I remember traveling across the country listening to one sermon cassette take after another, and listened to a complete set of tapes on "God is in Control." It was glorious! I didn't listen to one song. It took two days to get from Arizona to Illinois where my mother lived. I even got stopped by the police at midnight (because my tag was from Arizona and along the freeway in East St. Louis they are looking for drug runners from Mexico to Detroit) and the cop spent about 20 minutes behind me with my license while I organized by large container of sermon tapes, and then came back and asked me to step out of the van and come to the back. I was met there by a Swat team! It was hilarious. The lead cop who stopped me asked where I was going and a dozen questions and then said, "well I don't think you have any drugs or weapons, to which I said, "well, I have a gun." He said, "Is it loaded?" And I said "Of course its loaded, I sleep in truck stops." So now they wanted to rummage through the inside of the van. I told them where the gun was. The one cop who stayed with me told me that I would probably be put in jail tonight to wait for the judge in the morning." I said,"Oh, God is in control so there must be someone in jail God wants me to talk to tonight." He also said, it was a $10,000 fine for bringing a gun across state lines. I was all set to find out what adventure God had me on. Then they were through and came back to me and said that he unloaded the gun and put the clip under the passenger seat and the gun under the drivers seat and let me go. About 4 hours later I drove into my mothers place and went to bed. In the morning at breakfast my mother told me that she woke up around 4:00 and wondered if I had gotten there and in her dark room saw a vision of my van surrounded by a bright white light all around it, then saw the light go on in my room and went back to sleep. I was amazed! My mother saw a vision!!! Thank you God for comforting my mom with the truth that I was in the middle of His glory.

I believe what you call prophecy is God telling us what He plans on doing and what He already knows how others will respond. You believe there's a way to see into the future to see things that have not happened yet.
God does give knowledge of the future to individuals of His choosing. The Book of Daniel has many examples of this.

Dan 2:17-23 Then Daniel went to his house and made the matter known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, (18) and told them to seek mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his companions might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. (19) Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. (20) Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. (21) He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; (22) he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. (23) To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king's matter.”

Well JB was told to recognise Messiah by the One upon whom he would see the Holy Spirit come upon and remain.

He was the One who would baptise in the Holy Spirit.

Then at pentecost 'tongues of fire' were seen on the disciples - same phenomena.

Those who 'see in the Spirit' in this age would likely see similarly if the preaching is truely anointed.

So nothing new about this.

Same in Upper Volta at the Girls School as I mentioned in Post #31 where those in worship had a similar occurrence.

What verse is it where God is showing Daniel the future?

I do wonder why every Christian book that I mention that helps Christians better understand the Scriptures is always identified as being against the Bible.

Seriously? Some of us just about know the Book of Daniel by heart.

The book of Daniel, often regarded as a prophetic work, unfolds future events as ordained by God in the program of history. Here are some key points about Daniel’s prophetic insights:
  1. Four Beasts Vision (Daniel 7): Daniel has a vision of four great beasts representing successive world empires: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. These empires play significant roles in human history, leading up to the climax—the second coming of Jesus Christ and the eternal kingdom of God12.
  2. Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream (Daniel 2): In Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, Daniel interprets a colossal statue with different materials (gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay). Each part symbolizes a kingdom, ultimately culminating in God’s eternal kingdom1.
  3. Daniel’s Prophecy of Seventy Weeks (Daniel 9:24–27): This remarkable passage provides a meticulous timeline for the appearance of Israel’s Messiah and subsequent events. It’s essential for understanding the future and aligns with Jesus’ teachings on the end times3.
  4. Symbolic Language: Both Daniel and Revelation use symbolic language—strange beasts, images, and visions—to convey deeper meanings. These symbols require careful study and interpretation, drawing from the entire Bible to unlock their significance1.
Remember, while Daniel reveals glimpses of the future, God’s overarching plan remains mysterious. Understanding these prophecies helps us discern the general trend of events and God’s ultimate purposes for our world1.

Okay I flipped a coin and number 2 came up as the winner. So let's look at Nebuchandnezzar. God told Daniel about four beasts representing world empires. Where did Daniel see into the future?

My relationship with Jesus is private but powerful on one side, and very open on the other side. In 2000 Jesus spoke to me in the desert and said, "I am giving you the office of Teacher." When I got to the church in California I was traveling to, I asked Jack Hayford to anoint me for that office, and he and his son-in-law did. I guess as a teacher Jesus wanted me to experience all the gifts of the Spirit, because I've experienced all but two of the gifts in the Bible. I've never experienced a message to be given in tongues, though I do have my private prayer language, nor have I interpreted a message in tongues. It was because of His generosity with me that I asked for this one too. And immediately I had it. Your relationship with God is yours and I don't covet it. So stop judging me because of my own unique relationship with him. If you are a seer, then yes, please tell me what you've experienced so I can understand what I see. I sure can't ask a medium what the different colors of the "auras" mean as they have the counterfeit. I don't think Satan knows what they mean to tell them.

Why are you defending yourself when I have not been judging you in my posts in this thread.

Okay I flipped a coin and number 2 came up as the winner. So let's look at Nebuchandnezzar. God told Daniel about four beasts representing world empires. Where did Daniel see into the future?
From time to time God reveals certain future events to certain people. In this case God gave Nebuchadnezzar a dream which caused him to seek out someone to interpret it. Daniel had faith that God would enable him to interpret the dream, and consequently God gave him a vision of the future events.

Dan 2:17-19 Then Daniel went to his house and made the matter known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, (18) and told them to seek mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his companions might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. (19) Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

Ol' Neb was impressed:

Dan 2:46-47 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face and paid homage to Daniel, and commanded that an offering and incense be offered up to him. (47) The king answered and said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.”

Samuel was a prophet of significance. He foretold many things including this:

1Sa 8:10-18
So Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking for a king from him. (11) He said, “These will be the ways of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them to his chariots and to be his horsemen and to run before his chariots. (12) And he will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and some to plow his ground and to reap his harvest, and to make his implements of war and the equipment of his chariots. (13) He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. (14) He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive orchards and give them to his servants. (15) He will take the tenth of your grain and of your vineyards and give it to his officers and to his servants. (16) He will take your male servants and female servants and the best of your young men and your donkeys, and put them to his work. (17) He will take the tenth of your flocks, and you shall be his slaves. (18) And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day.”

Let's just look at this first statement to keep the type short. You wrote... From time to time God reveals certain future events to certain people. In this case God gave Nebuchadnezzar a dream which caused him to seek out someone to interpret it. Daniel had faith that God would enable him to interpret the dream, and consequently God gave him a vision of the future events.

How does God telling Joseph what Nebuchadnezzar's dream means gets Joseph into the future? Take me for an example: My boss told me last week that this week I would be reporting to a different building because the company is knocking down the old building. He told me this a week before I was to report and 4 weeks before the building comes down and neither of us saw into the future.

Yes, but that's all I know about it. I'd like to talk with someone who has this besides the three other women at church. All they've seen is bright white the same as me. But in visiting other churches I've also seen dark blue, gold and green. What could those mean?

Future empires foretold. There is no way this is not a prophetic narrative, of the future.
God knew what was coming. If he tells that to me. I don't get how that puts me into seeing the future. I would just be telling others what God told me.

Clearly Paul runs in to a seer in the Acts of the Apostles .He removes the spirit from her and then has to flee because she was the Kings seer.

May I ask where in Acts does it call someone a Seer?

It says she has a clairvoyant spirit and she is saying I know who you are Paul gets mad and removes it from her.It does say she was the kings seer also and is why Paul has to flee. Its in the acts you can read it yourself.Acts -16:16-18. Depends on which bible you read some are slightly different.Paul ends up taking a serious beating for doing it .

When God tells me something I will come to see in my own future, it is still prophecy.
