In a previous topic we explored why the baptized believers in Samaria hadn't received the Holy Spirit.

Why hadn't the baptized believers in Samaria received the Holy Spirit?

The typical response to the question about the initial evidence of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, is tongues.
But when I read the book of the Acts of the Apostles, I see it is not limited to tongues.
I conclude that any manifestation of the Holy Spirit could be the initial evidence.

Would you limit the initial evidence to speaking in tongues?

Here are the scriptures that led to my conclusions on this.

Acts 10:46 NIV
For they heard them speaking in tongues[a] and praising God. ...

Acts 19:6 NIV
When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them,
and they spoke in tongues[a] and prophesied.

The initial evidence to baptism of the Holy Ghost is just after John the Baptist conducted water baptism on Jesus of Nazareth Himself.

You are correct... any sign of the manifestations of the spirit would have told the Apostles that one received the new birth.

This makes no sense. Christians are not baptized with water as Jesus was.

As usual there are that makes no sense to you since you're not entirely 'Sola Scriptural', and am not surprised.

But, i was baptize with water for the remission of sins, done in faith according to Acts 2:38. For faith comes from hearing and hearing the Word of GOD, Jesus our Lord and our God.

Paul and Silas apparently use the same water used to clean their stripe, to baptize the jailer and his household.

To whom water baptism is non-applicable, but alone the Spirit is sufficient, to you 'shortsighted' so be it.

And to whom baptism of the water is included with baptism of the Spirit and scripturally sound and conducted, have fellowship with me.

To the threads prior on the same baptism of the water matter, as given i've quoted scriptures and explained sufficiently. That, it was still conducted through out the book Acts by the Apostles, Paul himself, and church.

Besides also acknowledge the baptism gifts of the Spirit, do fall on those who hear the word of the Lord Jesus and believe. (Acts 2:38)

Water will only get you wet and if Christians think getting wet means something spiritual then I have a bridge in New York for sale. It does nothing and serves no other purpose other than getting you wet. Here's what I write about it... Water baptism is a carryover from part of the Levitical Law. There are many examples of people in the Old Testament who would wash themselves with water as a final step to being clean. Water baptism was an outward sign of washing, and then you would be clean to God. Baptism in water, and the need to be circumcised passed away with the coming of Pentecost, as did the other Levitical Laws. To be led by the spirit is to not be under the yoke of bondage with the extreme of legalism, seeking the works of the flesh from the old covenant concerning the past Law administration that was written to Israel.

It's clear from the gospels that water baptism had to do with the kingdom, which was ministered by John who was known as the Baptizer, and not a minister for the Church of God. John who was a prophet functioning under the old covenant was appointed by God to prepare and confirm the promises made to Israel. His message was to tell those who lived under the old covenant that the king had come and “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” He used water as a sign to baptize those who believed the promised Messiah would be coming in just a matter of months and to illustrate that he would be the Christ, who would baptize them not with material water, but with holy spirit, which is “power from on high.” From the habit of tradition, and only for a short period of time, a small handful of people were baptized with water into the New Testament, but never again afterwards.

In the epistles written just a little bit past the beginning of the New Testament is where we read the only time water baptism is mentioned is to note there is no more need for it, and that we are now to be baptized with holy spirit. And this is why in Acts 2:38, Peter commands “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ.” In Acts 8:16, Peter and John “baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” In Acts 10:48, Peter “commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.” In Romans 6:3, it declares “that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ.” There is not one exception to this practice where we see water baptism, which belonged to the time period when Christ walked the earth, being used once the Church of God had become established.

Jesus Himself got wet and came out of the water and the Holy Ghost descended on Him. Well, the lambs and sheep who follow their Master accordingly, shall not go wrong.

By the way, faithless in regards the scripture and word of GOD and not abiding, water will be just water to them.

I do think you are crazy Matt …crazy in love with God our Father and the Lord Jesus.

If I remember right…. a few years ago in CF message you told me you had some really bad experiences with speaking in tongues at a church you attended. I don’t remember the details ...but I am sorry that it has impacted you that way. One of my sisters went through some weirdness with a church dealing with tongues, and it took her several years before realizing the people can be idiots and totally mislead you … It took almost 15 years for her to recover from that and finally accept the truth of what God say’s in his Word about speaking in tongues. …So I still hold out hope and prayers for you because you have a sincere love and desire for truth….

You shouldn’t get me started on healing preachers …which to me is a deceptive racket with $$ and fame being the underline motivator. … There are specific principles in the Word regarding healing that are not followed by those cloaked tricksters… When it is conducted accurately from the truth, there is no hit-n-miss or fake healings…………. God always comes through…every time.
Have you heard of Reinhard Bonnke, the Billy Graham of Africa? He had a list of some 72 million confessions for Christ throughout his ministry, preached to crowds of up to 1.6 million at a time. Blind, deaf, crippled were healed and the dead were raised. Don't believe he was in it for the money. He had a dream the Holy Spirit sent him to Africa and anointed him.

Question....

Acts 8:
17. Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

First, praying for them to receive the Holy Ghost was incomplete. Second, they were baptize with water for the remission of sins. Third, when hands were laid on them, they received the Holy Ghost.

Shalom in the name of Adonai Yeshua

Jesus was Jewish. You are not.
Blind guides, do not be haughty and be wise in your own conceit and shame on you, Steven.

Matthew 15:
13. But He answered and said,
Every plant, which My Heavenly FATHER hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. and if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

For Cornelius and his household, and too the Eunuch, were neither Jews. But they were baptized with water like Jesus the firstfruit of resurrection. Carried out by the Apostles according to the commission given to them by Lord Jesus before His ascension.

Water baptism is not alone for the Jews, but also for the Gentiles, who are all the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve, beginning with Jesus of Nazareth, period

Genesis 3:
15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel.

Romans 6:
3. Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?
4. Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the Glory of the FATHER, even so we also should walk in the newness of life.

Physically re-enacted in faith witnessing to the world and Heaven, when the body is fully immersed into the water. As being buried with him by baptism into death for the remission of sins.. And hence come out of the water as Christ was raised up from the dead to life eternal. Even so we also should walk in the newness of life to eternity.

Galatians 3:
27. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28. There is neither Jews nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29. And if ye Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

There is written, You are of your father the devil and his will ye shall do, that is 'lie'.

Acts 10:
47. Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized,
which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48. And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

You amd those with you apparently forbid water baptism, claiming to witness Paul's gospel, when he himself forbid not. It's best to put your tails between your legs and move along, lest you put the Lord thy God to the test.

39. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Wake up and repent!

It appears they did forbid water because he was baptized in the name of the Lord and that is not with water.

Mr Peterlag who's lagging behind, 'forbids' Apostle Peter, that these should not be baptized with water.

Mr Peterlag who's lagging behind, 'forbids' Apostle Peter, that these should not be baptized with water.
Peter brought it up, but it was not used. Again, from the habit of tradition, and only for a short period of time, a small handful of people were baptized with water into the New Testament, but never again afterwards.

In the epistles written just a little bit past the beginning of the New Testament is where we read the only time water baptism is mentioned is to note there is no more need for it, and that we are now to be baptized with holy spirit.

Cornelius and his household were not water baptized.
What do you make of this?

Acts 10:47-48 NIV
“Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.”
48 So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.

Peter asked if we should use water and they said no because it does not say they were baptized with water. Did I not post this already?
