Y'all deserve who you getThe answer to that isn't really clear to me, and there might be more than one answer, given the multiplicity of charges. I'm not in the know.
But appearances count for something, and here the appearance is that this is largely political. The timing is suspect. The number of charges seems excessive. Is it normal for someone to be charged with 30+ different things? Is it normal for someone to be charged with these crimes at all? My experience of it is that virtually ALL politicians cheat at the financial end of things, and it seems few of them are ever charged with anything.
I didn't spend 2 seconds trying to examine the motivations of the DA. Now that you've broached the subject, I'd reckon they're (a) prestige and (b) money... both of which seem available here.
I'm not sure it makes sense to talk about Trump's motivations with regard to his being prosecuted. That seems out of his control, and certainly not something that one would choose for themself.
Seems normal for a person to delay their own prosecution. Less normal for the one doing the prosecuting.
I kind of hate that you've got me defending Trump, though. I don't like him. I didn't vote for him last time, and I don't plan to vote for him this time.
I am however concerned about the courts being used for political maneuvering. That's something I expect to see in Central America, not the U.S.
