Please learn your terminology

To baptize is to immerse or to place into. John the baptist baptized Jesus in water

To Anoint is to pour on or into

The Holy Spirit was poured on or into Christ at his baptism, hence he was anointed with the spirit.

Once again, Jesus did not have need of being baptized in the spirit. he did not sin, hence he did not have to have his sins redeemed. We do.
Please learn your terminology

To baptize is to immerse or to place into. John the baptist baptized Jesus in water
If you check your Bible it does say baptised with the Holy Spirit.

ESV “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

I certainly know what water baptism means.

Now, just check your delivery of words...”please learn your terminology.”...just saying....this is why you are most of the time arguing with members on many threads.....look at the way you deliver “ your words”...it’s very much noted.....imo....personally I let your words the majority of the time go over my head, but, when I see the way you have spoken to JBO, Spyder on this thread, seriously...wake up....I’ve been the same, stuck in “ me” at least think on it.
To Anoint is to pour on or into
To Anoint for service.

KJV Acts 10:38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

That is not the same as being Born Of The Spirit.
The Holy Spirit was poured on or into Christ at his baptism, hence he was anointed with the spirit
For service....he was anointed with Gods power.

ESV “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
.

Once again, Jesus did not have need of being baptized in the spirit. he did not sin, hence he did not have to have his sins redeemed. We do.
I never said he did, you said “ I” said that.

Our sins are forgiven when we become Born Of The Spirit....it’s because of the cross that we can become Born Of The Spirit....the cross itself I’m afraid doesn’t give you the spiritual birth, I’m afraid that is a “ Living spiritual birth “ that comes from above...who happens to be God’s Living witness, The Holy Spirit...the Bible reading can’t make our spirit Born Again..we need that vital Living witness to make our spirit come to life...He is our witness to all of God’s written word,he indwell our heart/ spirit permanently.when our spirit has become Born Again........as we have been Born Again of imperishable seed that liveth and abideth forever.

‘This is a one off...just for our information.....

What does the Bible say about self-examination?

Bible self-examination
audio

ANSWER

Self-examination is an important part of living as an authentic Christian, but by nature we prefer self-deception. Deceiving ourselves is easy and comfortable. We want to believe ourselves better, smarter, and more ethical than we really are, so careful, Spirit-directed self-examination keeps us honest with ourselves and with God.

We need self-examination to combat the spiritual deception rampant in the world. Scripture tells us to confess our sin to God, which requires a certain amount of self-examination. If we can never find any sin to confess, then “we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8). It is dangerous to lie to ourselves. Second Corinthians 13:5 instructs us to examine ourselves to see if we are truly in Christ. One of Satan’s favorite traps is to whisper false assurance to an unregenerate heart. Without Spirit-directed self-examination, our enemy’s lie is too pleasant, believable, and palatable to challenge on our own.

First Corinthians 11:28 warns of another way we deceive ourselves. In giving instruction about taking the Lord’s Supper (Communion), Paul says that we must first examine ourselves so that we do not take the elements “in an unworthy manner.” We take the Lord’s Supper in an unworthy manner when we harbor willful sin in our lives and refuse to repent of it (see 1 John 1:9). When we examine ourselves before partaking of the Lord’s Supper, we have the opportunity to agree with the Lord about our sin, repent of it, and receive His forgiveness. We can then take the elements in a worthy manner, in fellowship with God and other believers, purified through the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7; Romans 5:8–10).

We should also self-examine our motives and attitudes before taking the Lord’s Supper. If we are distracted, angry, or impatient, we should get our thoughts under control (2 Corinthians 10:5) before entering into that sacred act. The ordinance loses its meaning when we are not fully engaged in its symbolism, and that dishonors the sacrifice of Christ. Paul scolded the Corinthian church for the disrespectful way they were participating in the Lord’s Supper. Some were hogging the food, and some were getting drunk on the wine (2 Corinthians 11:20–22). They were told to examine themselves or they would face judgment; some had even died as a result of their lack of self-examination (1 Corinthians 11:30–32).

One difficulty with self-examination is that we do not always know our own hearts. Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” True self-examination must be done with the Holy Spirit, who searches the deep things of the heart (1 Corinthians 2:10–11). The church of Laodicea was in sore need of self-examination, but they had a hard time seeing their problem: “You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked” (Revelation 3:17). The psalmist says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way” (Psalm 139:23–24). The psalmist here admits that he does not even know whether his actions and motives are pure. So he invites the Lord, the Righteous Judge, to test him and reveal to him his own sin.

Lack of self-examination can lead to ongoing self-deception; however, an over-attention to one’s self is also unhealthy. We can become so inwardly focused that we take our eyes off of Jesus and make self-improvement our god. A.W. Tozer, in his classic work The Pursuit of God, says, “The man who has struggled to purify himself and has had nothing but repeated failures will experience real relief when he stops tinkering with his soul and looks away to the perfect One. While he looks at Christ, the very thing he has so long been trying to do will be getting done within him” (p. 85). We should examine ourselves in light of the truth being revealed to us from Scripture and allow God’s Word to convict and change us. At the same time, we must humbly admit our inability to change ourselves and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit within to transform us into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29).

Your "ritual" is nothing more and nothing less.
Its a ritual.

Salvation, is not a "ritual", its a REDEMPTION... Its ETERNAL LIFE being given... its "The Gift of Righteousness" being imputed, and its the Forgiveness of Sin, being accomplished.

SEE ONLY = The CROSS OF CHRIST...for ALL of that and even MORE.

Water "ritual" has NO PART in any of that, as water is just water.
So you take issue with scripture, too. OK.

i take issues with heresy, that tries to pretend its truth, that is allowed on "christian" forums, that shouldn't be allowed.

And example would be........... a religious but lost person, who is teaching "repent and be water dunked"... as their "Baptismal Regeneration" Catholic LIE..... regarding how this Water Cult falsely teaches 'how to become a Christian".

Do you understand @Spyder ?

There are some who teach that the "Gospel" is : Acts 2:38.
The Obedience of Peter to the Great Commission is the first part of this passage, and the second part is The Obedience of Everyone Who Was Baptised and Added to the Disciples.

Note that "every one of you" includes the original disciples . . .

Act 2:38-41
Then Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (39) For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call. (40) And with many other words he earnestly testified and exhorted, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation. (41) Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. And the same day there were added about three thousand souls.

Mat 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in earth. (19) Therefore go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.

Peter wasn't water baptized in Acts 2., nor were those in the Upper Room.
Yet, Peter and all those, received the "Gift of the Spirit".... (#9 on Paul's list of Spiritual Gifts).

If you read John 20:22, you'll read that Peter received the Holy Spirit, BEFORE Pentecost, and didnt speak in tongues, and was not water baptized, at that time.

Go read it., dont just stay "stuck on repeat", that you have been taught to perform.... by a "water cult". @Stumpmaster

Not according to what Acts 2:38 states.

And as i told you.. .if you read John 20:22...... = Peter was given the Holy Spirit by Jesus......and that is before Pentecost.
And He also was not water baptized THEN, and no did Peter speak in "tongues".

Read it.

Unfortunately we’re most definitely on different levels of spiritual understanding.

I could never learn from “ you”...it should be...God first and foremost....not “ me” ,me, me..I learn from the Spirit, reading most of your posts you learn from self, nothing “spiritual” in any of your words, we are taught to understand the written word in our hearts/ spirit.by Gods witness His Living Holy Spirit, personally, I don’t think you understand what that means,...I think you need to ask God to open up your heart as imo, I don’t see much life there.
Then continue in having absolutely no idea what the baptism of the spirit is. No sweat of my back

But I am warning you now to stop with your Bull.. I am sick of your accusations..

Wake up?

I am done with you. I am sick of your childish behavior every time someone tries to help you.

How do you take what I said to be bad wording. I just stated a fact. and gave a definition. If giving a defenition of a word is being childish or bad terminology, how are we supposed to discuss anything?

God day my friend. You have seriously turned from where you were just a few short months ago..

Actually read what this says

He is speaking to individuals here. Every one of YOU..

Different that the first command, where he told all of them to repent.

Also. the gift of the spirit points back to repenting, Not baptism.

And baptism is not in order to recieve remission of sin, That was accomplished when they repented (believed) and were born again

@Ritajanice Is this good wording? Is this not condiscending? Is this helping in the conversation? Or is this a strawman attack because @Spyder is unable to repond to what is being said to him properly?

before you start yelling at people. you need to start looking at everyone..
Not yelling...nor attacking......you are imo a “ drama queen”.just stated my opinion of you, that was all........now, can we get back to topic please...thank you.

What do you think it is?
Romans 6, 1 cor 12, gal 5, col 2

John said Jesus will baptize with the HS or with fire.

I do not wish to be baptized in fire.. No one should desire to be immersed into the fire that will never be quenched (hellfire) but everyone will be baptized by God. we need to chose which one

Romans 6 and Colossians 2 are the same as Acts 2:38. Galatians 5 is similar. 1 Corinthians 12 is something different altogether. It is the same as Acts 2:4, 10:44 and all the occurrences of the laying on of hands of the apostles such as with Peter and John Acts 8:17, etc.

The first group received the gift, the indwelling, of the Holy Spirit through their faith when they were water baptized. The second group received the empowering Holy Spirit. The indwelling Holy Spirit is a gift to all who believe and are water baptized and is strictly a New Covenant gift. the purpose is as a helper, a paraclete, to the new Christian. The empowering Holy Spirit was a gift to only a select few. It happened in the OT as well as the NT. You need to always discern the distinction between the indwelling Holy Spirit and the empowering Holy Spirit, something that you seem not to be doing.

John said Jesus will baptize with the Holy Spirit AND fire. There was no "or" there. In that baptism, fire is more likely a cleansing fire, a purifying fire and again is the gift to all repentant believers in water baptism.

He has misinterpreted what John said. John said "Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit AND fire, not Spirit or fire. In that case fire is a cleansing fire, a purifying fire. It is the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit given to the repentant believer in water baptism (Acts 2:38).

Neither Peter nor those in the Upper room were water baptized in Acts 2.

Peter received the Holy Spirit, in John 20, that happened before Acts 2, and He was not water baptized, at that time.

And Peter, who was the Act 2:38 preacher, did not understand the Gospel of the Grace of God, until Acts 15. = Not until He was taught it by Paul.
The apostles preaching of te gospel was not taught them.
It was given to them by a miraculous direct operation of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus baptized the apostles with the Holy Spirit for the purpose of preaching the gospel to all of creation.

Mark 1:8,
- indeed I baptize you with water but Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit
Jesus baptized Peter and Paul.

Purpose of Holy Spirit baptism:
John 14:26,
- but the Comforter which is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name
He shall TEACH YOU ALL THINGS and bring to your REMEMBRANCE ALL THINGS whatsoever I have said unto you

Jesus said the apostles led by the Holy Spirit would know ALL THINGS!!!
Peter could not have been ignorant when he was preaching the gospel for the Holy Spirit was guiding him what to say.

Place of God putting the apostles under the guidance of the Holy Spirit,
Luke 24:48-49,
- and behold I send the promise of My Father upon you but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high

Acts 2 is where the Holy Spirit falls upon the apostles,
Acts 1:4-5,
- and being assembled with them(apostles) commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem but wait for the promise of the father
 -
for John truly baptized with water but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days hence

Acts 2:1-4,
- and when the day of Penetcost came they were all in one accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting
And there appeared untothem cloven tongues like fire and it sat upon each of them
- and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the SPIRIT GAVE THEM UTTERANCE

Very important!!!!!!!!
tongue speaking is not gibberish.
Tongue speaking is Languages!

Notice: the Holy Spirit was the one who had them speak what they are speaking!!!!

V•7 - and they were all amazed and marveled saying one to another,
Behold are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

Now Peter's penetcost sermon begins UNDER THE DIRECT GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT,
Acts 2:14,
- but Peter standing up with the eleven(apostles) lifted up his voice and said, ye men of Judea and all ye that dwell in Jerusalem be this known unto you and HEARKEN TO MY WORDS

THOSE WORDS WERE THE WORDS OF GOD BEING SPOKEN THROUGH PETER

That word hearken was chosen by God it means to listen carefully to.

Now when we get to Acts 2:38 Peter is still the spokepiece or mouth piece for God.

Let there be no doubt what Peter preached in Acts 2:38
Was the God given gospel of Jesus.
It was taught without error!

It is the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
Paul later baptized by the Holy Spirit in Acts 9:17 obeyed the exact same gospel to be saved.
And then began to preach the exact same gospel to the Jews then gentiles.

Acts 22:16 Paul's initial obedience to the gospel of Christ,
- and now why are you waiting Arise and be baptized and wash away your sins calling on the name of the Lord

God doesn't make mistakes folks!
