Jesus died on Passover which was a Friday that year. Passover is called Pesach in Hebrew and is an 8 day celebration for teh 7 day feast of unleavened bread immediately follows Passover!

Jesus ate the Passover seder on thurs evening (which was considered Friday in Israel) and arrested afterwards in Gethsemane.
Now after sunrise the Pharisees brought Jesus before Pilate in the Gabbatha (court of Pilate) but would not go in because it would defile them

Jesus was always being inquired of by the Jews for a sign. He gave them one in reference to His death and resurrection. He told them that just like Jonas, He would be in the earth 3 days and 3 nights. In the Gospel of John Jesus again gave the Jews a sign by telling them if this temple was destroyed He would raise it up in 3 days. Jesus was referring to His body.

Now despite the fact that Jesus Himself said that He would be in the grave 3 days and 3 nights, man has come up with the tradition of Jesus dying on Good Friday and rising early Sunday morning. In following this tradition, not only does one not observe one of God's Holy Days, which is the Passover, they directly deny the words of Jesus. It was Jesus who gave the sign of being in the grave 3 days and 3 nights. The tradition of Good Friday and Easter clearly does not line up with scripture. Because following this tradition the maximum one has Jesus in the grave is 1 day and 2 nights.

Christians do not celebrate the sun...they alternatively adapted the celebration of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection on those day now referred to as "Easter." As Christ has overcome the world--so have Christians overcome former pagan practices that no longer have meaning, but have been replaced with celebrations of God and Christ.

1. Jews considered any part of a day as a day when speaking colloquially.

Jesus wasn't speaking colloquially. He said he would be in the ground the same amount of time that Johah was in the whale.

You have not represented verse 8, but in part.

Those in Christ do not partake in what is "vain", but rather what is conquered, as we ought to do. Which we do in our reign with Christ. Nothing is unclean, nothing unlawful. This part you have omitted.

Paul's comments were to those on the cusp of transition, who also may not have fully understood except in part. Meanwhile, it is fine to continue to give that same warning and caution to those who are yet secure in Christ. But to those who are secure--you "offend these little ones" to group them in with those who may yet perish.

As for Jesus keeping the Sabbath. Of course, He is the Last, therefore He should indeed have kept it. But He was and is also the First to enter into the complete rest of God leaving behind the practices that only pointed to doing so. Did He not also hedge that practice allowing his own disciples to violate it by previous law? Yes--because they had begun to enter into the actual Sabbath, rather than the vain practice.

Thus, Jesus' commands to keep the Sabbath were understood by the twelve--but not even now by many who keep the law.

From my reading of the chronological order of the crucifixion, I can make these observations.

1. Jesus arrived in Bathany, six days before the Passover feast on the following Friday, just before the sun before the start of the Sabbath for that week.
2. Jesus, after the Sabbath ended when the sun when down on the Sabbath day, organised a young colt to ride to go into Jerusalem. After the sun had gone down, the crowds came from Jerusalem to see Jesus and Lazareth during the twilight and so the Palm Sunday procession into Jerusalem occurred. When the twilight started to fade, Jesus returned to Bethany after having entered the Temple.
3. On the Sunday morning, Jesus again entered the Temple and cleansed the temple and taught in the Temple.
4. On one of the mornings Jesus was going to Jerusalem He cursed a fig tree and it began to wither and die.
4. The next day when Jesus and the disciples passed by that fig tree the disciples observed that the tree was already dead.
5. As the end of the Wednesday approached, Jesus instructed the disciples to prepare a meal in an upper room which occurred on the Thursday night when the Lord's supper was first introduced for us Christian to follow.
6. After the "Last Supper," Jesus went to the Garden of Getsemany to Pray and it was here that Judas brought the Temple Guard too, to arrest Jesus
7. On the Preparation Day for the Passover Feast, Jesus was examined by the High Priest, taken before Pilate and condemned to death at the request of the religious elite of Jerusalem, taken to the Hill, Golgotha, and was crucified there along with two others in the morning, possibly before the third hour of the day.
8. Around the sixth hour, darkness came over Jerusalem until Jesus die around the time of the ninth hour.
9. Before the start of the Passover Day, Jesus' dead body was taken down and placed in a recently refurbished Tomb. Then at the very start oof the Passover day, the High Priest asked Pilate for a guard to be set at the tomb so that Jesus' body could not be stolen by Jesus' disciples. Pilate told the High Priest to use the Temple guard for this task.
10. On the Sunday morning an Angel of the Lord descended from Heaven creating a great turmoil among those at the Tomb and rolled the stone away from the entrance of the Tomb to reveal that the tomb was empty.

So, from these observations we can state: -

Jesus died around 3 pm on Thursday, and that He had risen again before the sun had risen on the following Sunday morning so that Jesus was dead for three days and for three nights he was in the Tomb.

That's not true because the Bible teaches Jesus didn't rise Easter Sunday Morning. In (Luke 24:1) Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. (2) And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. (3) And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. (4) And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: (5) And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? That's not true because the Bible teaches Jesus didn't rise Easter Sunday Morning. In (Luke 24:1) Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. Most Sunday Roman Christians don't know all this was even written in the Bible about Jesus being in the grave three days and three nights, nor what was written in Daniel 9th Chapter. Just like it's not written in the Bible to go to church on Sunday. The word of God commanded you to. (Lev.23:3) “Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation;” He said on the Sabbath day that you should also have an holy convocation, which means holy gathering or simply put, go to church. Remember in Acts 7: 38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

Well in Lev. Jews did not go to church. they just gathered in the desert. YOu make a fuss over teh Septuigant use of ekklessia which first and foremost is a gathering.

When we speak of the body of christ we say church, but remember Jesus in Matt. 17 said He will build future, not has been building or keep building. why is that so difficult for you to understand.

It doesn't matter. Jesus was speaking in the language of the day with the understanding of colloquialisms of the day!

Just like if we say its raining cats and dogs out. We of today know what is meant, but someone 1500 years from now, unless they learned of our colloquial way of speaking would not understand.

Three days, three days and nights, third day all mean the same thing-- any part of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

If you wish to believe different that is your privilege, but then you have to justify how the Scriptures clearly say Jesus died on Passover Friday and rose on the first day of the week which is sunday, to you insistence it has to be around 72 hours.

Well to Gentiles 2000 years removed it may not be plain, but when we think and respond according to the text we learn and know!

That Saturday (sundown Friday to sundown Saturday) was the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, which made it a high sabbath.

Jesus ate the Passover seder Thursday after sundown (making it Friday in Jewish reckoning) on Passover. He was arrested that night (to us Thurs night- to Jews Friday) and put to death that same day!

That Friday was not only Passover but also the day of preparation for the feast of unleavened bread. Every Jewish household had to remove all leaven and leavened products from their house ot prepare their house.

Once again, in teh times Jesus lived and even today in Jewish culture, Jews would count any part of a day as a whole day in conversation.

Okay, I get that. But Jesus' prediction is not "everyday conversation." And as far as I know, no one would say that two nights is three nights.

So while Jesus did not spend 72 hours in the grave (before sundown friday to after sundown and before dawn sunday) Jews would have said three days! So on the third day, three days, three days and nights all meant the same. any part of the day was considered a whole day.

I don't think we need to play games with what Jesus said, since there is a way to work this out so that Jesus was in the tomb for three whole days and three whole nights.
