Trees fall here too in storms. So far we have been lucky and blessed this year without a real storm. It is windy here for the weekend. I can hear it in these wee hours. Outlying areas will be even windier. Chilly too.
Sometimes the trees fall down since they don't get enough water. Recently they have fallen on a couple of homes and also cars.
It's 40f here and I'm enjoying my first cup of coffee.7:35 am

It must look pretty, the snow. If you can, post a pic for us here.It snowed here. We only got about a 1/2 inch of snow so far. We're in the deep freeze at 20F. It's supposed to get down to 10F soon. Walks will be cold.
Sweet and Sour chicken and rice for breakfast.
Coffee afterwards.
Cheers!
I tried posting pics before and the site wouldn't let me upload them for some reason. It must look pretty, the snow. If you can, post a pic for us here.
I just checked our temperature.... getting different readings for downtown Los Angeles. My tablet says 39....a temperature site says 47. It sure feels colder....a little draft coming through the door cracks. Highs in daytime should be mid 60s.
What did they keep in there at that temp? When I was in the military I had to work in cold storage. It was -40 in the cold storage warehouse
Food storage. They must have some preservation timing they needed to keep on the food. What did they keep in there at that temp?
I spent a little time in Oregon so I remember black ice. Didn't have much snow. Can remember looking out the glass door and seeing snow flurries. Big thing to this Southern Californian.@Debp maybe it was 40 below freezing, which it probably was. I just remember the 40 below part as it was back in 1988-1989. But ya super cold.
We have a lot of black ice on the roads here and just a touch of snow. Sunny out and 15F.
Wow, that's really cold, Dev.I actually made it to the store. I was lucky that I avoided the black ice on the roads. By the time I got back and unloaded the groceries there was frost bite developing on my hands. It took a full 15 minutes to warm up the car and the window still had ice on the inside even after warming the car. My walks consist of walking to the mail box and then deciding I'm too cold and then I turn around and make my way back. ;)
12F here this morning. Getting my second cup of coffee. Cheers!
Ya that's great you have grocery delivery. I'm just waking up and getting some coffee. Supposed to start warming up mid week again. Looks like we're getting more snow on wed.Wow, that's really cold, Dev.
We are supposed to get some rain next weekend! So glad for it.
Because I'm 73, don't walk as easily and taking care of my mom full-time, I finally signed up for grocery delivery with Shipt. I paid $99 for a year of delivery. There is an extra fee of $4 and also a tip, but it really helps me to have groceries delivered.
Black ice is nasty stuff. I remember the first year after we moved to NC from SoFLA. I didn't take seriously a freezing rain warning and stayed at work too long. Coming home, I couldn't see the black ice and started sliding sideways, and Newton's First Law of Motion took over. You keep sliding until you hit something, which fortunately was some underbrush on the side of the road and not the pine trees. A cop on patrol took me home, and the next day my stepson helped me get my car back on the road.I spent a little time in Oregon so I remember black ice. Didn't have much snow. Can remember looking out the glass door and seeing snow flurries. Big thing to this Southern Californian.
