Jesus comes to seek and save the lost ie, the whole planet. His message is one of reconciliation and that is, not God with Man but Man with God. It is mankind who feels God is a threat. This is a misconception. Adam went into hiding not God. God went out looking for Adam.
Yes, the message of reconciliation is the good news that we need not be fearful of God; God has never been angry.

Oh shout it from the rooftops then. How the devil is our Judge and King who we are to bow to, and wasn't defeated at the cross after all. And SteVen is lapping it up.
It's amazing to me the lengths to which people will go to deny the truth and wrest the scriptures in order to prop up a failing doctrine. This one has to be the worst. Deception is a terrible thing. You would have to be completely biblically illiterate to believe that the bible teaches us to fear the devil but not the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY who creates good and evil and created the destroyer to work havoc and far outranks the destroyer. All over the bible, both old and new testaments, it says explicitly to fear God and nowhere does it say to fear a fallen angel who was defeated at the cross by his Creator in Whom we stand and have been delegated His authority over the devil and demons. Yes, I would say biblically illiterate would have to be accurate. I hope you and Quietthinker and whoever else will think this over honestly and examine it and let some light in.........it's beyond the pale. Don't you or others understand that fearing the devil makes him your god and ruler and judge that you bow down to and try to appease??

When we try to describe something, we are limited to what we already know.
Like a painter with a pallet of colors to choose from as they apply paint to the canvas.
I like the description of God as Father. Imagined as the perfect loving father.
The Dad whose lap I am always welcome in. One that would never push me away
or say he didn't have time for me. This is the model of fathering
I choose to model with my own children,
I don't buy the Janus-faced god imagined by much of Christianity.
Seems like a serious misunderstanding of God's justice/mercy to me.
