John 3:6-8​

New International Version​

6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[a] gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[b] must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”[


The Holy Spirit indwells the heart/ spirit of his child and only God knows who his true born again children are.

Romans 8:11

The warning passages in the NT are written to believers . It makes no sense they are for unbelievers since they are all addressed to the local churches, the bride of Christ. For any believer to not heed those warnings is basically saying to continue in sin that grace may abound is ok and ignore those warnings as if they have fire insurance protection . Faith and repentance are 2 sides of the same coin . Any faith without repentance is not a biblical faith. Scripture confirms this in the gospels and epistles.

PROVERBS 3:6 KJV

My walk on  his path for my life is mine & I will give an account of it whether I heeded his directives or rebelled against them. I'm zealously guarding what the Spirit has shown me in God's word & another I WILL NOT follow be it man or the father of lies through men!

Choose this day whom you will serve.

An insidiously sly angel of light is the enemy of God & of my soul!

Together they signify the bride of Christ, the church, that is made up of many members. Apparently, not everyone who make up the church is going to be ready for His return.

I've looked at this interpretation of this parable a number of times, I keep coming to the same difficulty, that this interpretation seems to contradict passages such as these,

Colossians 3:1-4 KJV
1) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

If we are risen with Him, it means we've likewise died, hid with Christ in God, to appear when He appears.

1 John 3:1-3 KJV
1) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3) And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

The same thing here, we are His children now, and when He appears, when we see Him, we will be like Him. The only qualification here is that we are His children. Being His child now assures me that I'll be like Him when I see Him. And not that only, This truth, this hope, leads to me purifying myself. And I can attest to the efficacy of this truth.

1 Peter 1:3-5 KJV
3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4) To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Will His power fail? Faith here is the method or means by which God works His power to keep us unto salvation. This is why the true regenerate will continue to believe all life long.

Ephesians 4:30 KJV
30) And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

It's not even up to us any longer. God put His seal of ownership on us - the Holy Spirit - laying His claim upon us until He comes to collect His possession.

To me, these seem all to be plainly stated. This parable was not given an interpretation, so we don't have that. When Jesus interpretted the Parable of the Sower (or Soils), He first asked the disciples, If you don't understand this one, how will you understand any of them?

To me that's like saying, "If you get what this one is saying, you can take that knowledge, and understand the rest." And Jesus went on to explain that the Gospel goes out, and different people have different reactions. Some even respond positively, even with joy, but are proven in time to not be true, the seed, that is, the Word, neither taking root nor bearing fruit.

Only in the one soil, the good and honest heart, does the Word bear fruit.

So the wheat is divided from the tares, and the fish are sorted good from bad, and so on. And 5 virgins enter the feast, and 5 do not.

Can such a thing be? I don't see that's possible.

The seed is incorruptible, but as Christophany brought up the parable of the farmer sowing seed, it is the soil of the heart that can be the problem, not the seed itself.

The whole point here is to say, You are owned by God, your body is where the Holy Spirit lives, do don't do these things!

The adulterer won't inherit. Some of your were adulterers, but you've been cleansed. Now you are joined to God so don't do these things! You don't own yourself any longer, so flee those things!

Not just incorruptible, but it lives and remains forever.

1 Peter 1:23 KJV
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

The seed on the path, eaten by the birds. Satan plucks it from their hearts before it takes root or bears fruit. These are not receptive at all.

The seed on the rocky soil, quickly received with joy, but no actual root, and persecution kills the sprout. The fiery trials that prove your faith genuine, and their's not. These like what they hear, but their's no root, it doesn't penetrate into them.

The seed on the thorny ground, the cares of the world prevent the Word from being fruitful. Again, they seem to want this, but in reality they want other things more.

Only the seed on the good ground bears fruit, being the incorruptible ingrafted Word, that lives, and remains forever.

It says they were bought with a price, and the spirit is in them, so they must be born again.

But in each soil the seed brought life but not long enough to produce fruit right ?

My advice is dont follow calvin . Even a broke clock is spot on right twice a day .
The conditional clauses all point to KEEPING THE FAITH IN CHRIST .
Here is something so simple you would think even a little child would grasp it .
If my faith is in something , I BELIEVE IT . I believe WHAT JESUS said , I BELIEVE every WORD HE EVER SAID .
And if we BELIEVE HE IS TRULY THE CHRIST OF GOD , THE WORD OF GOD and that GOD IS HIS WORD
WHY on earth are folks omitting HIS WORDS . IF i believe GOD is who HE IS , You better BELIEVE
i am gonna honor HIM and BELIEVE ALL THINGS HE SAID . GOD IS GOD and man is but man .
WHO the heck does man think HE is to try and alter and twist ONE WORD GOD ever said , CHRIST ever said .
Think about how simple that is . Many folks holler they believe in GOD , believe in HIS CHRIST
but they sure dont seem to really BELIEVE at all . I take JESUS at his every word .
IF HE said if one believth not they are condemend . I BELIEVE HIM , not what man tries to tell me about HIM .
I BELIEVE HIS WORDS . If one believes not in the WORD and words of GOD , of the prophets , of the apostels
who were SPIRIT inspired . HOW on earth do they really BELIEVE at all . ITS head knowledge at most
Even the devils know GOD EXISTS , EVEN THE DEMONS KNOW JESUS is the CHRIST .
IF we truly BELIEVE we would do as abraham did . GOD SAID ABRAHAM BELIEVED ABRAHAM DID .
I did for 4 decades. I can smell his doctrines a mile away. Some people believe in some of them and don't even realize its part of Calvins doctrines of grace- TULIP.

Brother-I'm leaving this thread-not edifying and I am tired of some here just philosophizing-John said: "That we may KNOW that we HAVE eternal life" and the counter-arguments are very aggressive-persuasive-using terminologies foreign to Scriptures

1Jn_5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Here is some food for thought. Believers must continue in the faith, finish the race, endure until the end, remain faithful etc…

1-They follow Jesus , John 10:27
2- Keep/obey His teachings, John 8:51
3- Faith is continual - believing the present active participle. John 5:24
4- Remaining faithful to His word/teaching John 8:31

A person can stop following Jesus and become lost, stop obeying Him and not continuing in the faith and enduring until the end and fall away just like Hebrews teaches and other N.T. passages and parables.

Ex 32:32- Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written

Ps 69:28-May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous

See also Rev 3:5 and 22:19- blotting out from the book of life.


Hebrews was written to believers who should be teachers by now as per Hebrews 5:12 who have need again of the basics and of milk. The Hebrew believers need the food of infants in Hebrews 5:13 who cannot stomach the food for the mature in Hebrews 5:14. Chapter 6 follows chapter 5. This book is filled with such warning passages as we read below :

" It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. 7 Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned. "

1-Only believers are enlightened
2-Only believers can taste the heavenly gift
3-Only believers can partake of the Holy Spirit
4-Only believers experience Gods power
5-Only believers can fall away

Hebrews 12
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. James agrees

James 2:14-26
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[d]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[e] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, 23 to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24 to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

25 See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? 26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens. 27 The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.

Absolutely, you guys are so spiritual-and have/hearing voices claiming it is from the Spirit.

Aren’t we crucifying the flesh daily....?...the flesh is all about “ self” it serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever, because it’s all about us.

We deny self and follow the Spirit, easier said than done....Pride is one of the biggest barriers in our walk with the Spirit....when we are full of pride, it ruins our fellowship with Christ.

On saying that, I had to be shown that knowledge from the Holy Spirit, when we deny the self I believe God can then work in and through us,...when we hold on to pride he can’t and won’t work in us.....that’s my take on it anyway.
And well said-pride is ever lurking in all of us, in some form and manifestation

@amigo de christo is not judging, but reproving and correcting-and the bitter pill is not welcomed.

Eph_5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

2Ti_4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
