Roman’s 5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

What do you see this passage to mean?
We are made righteous by God as we put our faith into Him, and this means we are at peace with God. Jesus performed His act of obedience, dying, through which we are cleansed of sin, forgiven and reborn His children.

Trusting in the full working of Jesus on the cross, it's by the cross He saves us, and that same trust, in the full working of Jesus on the cross, that allows us entry into the grace in which we stand. The certainty of our forgiveness, the certainty of our reconciliation, we stand against anything that would try to take us down.

Much love!

“Already received it”
Been thinking a lot these past couple days about 1 Corinthians 4:7 For who makes you to differ from another ? and what have you that you did not receive? now if you did receive it, why do you glory, as if you had not received it ?

Big question to me is the “if” you have already received it (paraphrasing what it means to me) why then do you glory in the flesh as if you did not receive it? Why upon already receiving it, do you glory in the flesh as if you haven’t received it? For example the Pharisees may say they had received it, but by glorying in flesh …did they act contrary to having yet received it.
"receiving" it means we have received it from God, therefore the glory belongs to Him. Simple. It is not of our own, therefore the glory does not belong to us. All glory belongs to Him. If anyone is taking credit and glory for things received from God they are robbing God of the glory that rightfully belongs to Him.

I think glorying in the flesh, which is elsewhere in scripture, is referring to something else, such as glorying in a natural talent or ability or knowledge or good looks or achievements, or rank or wealth, etc, things like that which pertain to the flesh/natural man.

What does this mean?

Much love!
Blessings in Christ Jesus marks. The enemy is a crafty one. Sometimes he causes some to take a wrong turn, as one has said here. It is The Lord that leaves the 99 to go after the one who has fallen into a pit. In the story the old man, by only 3 words repeated, was able to touch(melt) the hardened heart of the man that was led astray. Sometimes we can give up on a brother, but The Lord does not.

Roman’s 5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

1st off. It means we have peace through God. Because we have been justified by faith (see romans 4)

If I may, what does peace with God mean to
James 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
To me that peace of them that make peace…is peace with God.

What does peace mean to me? No longer
Hebrews 10:27 a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

This shows we have access to God. again through faith.. Unlike the law. where only the high priest entered. the veil is torn, it is removed, I can come boldly to the throne of grace.
I was thinking of your prayers for me. If I understand correctly or what I gathered from post….you pray the Spirit of God would enter in —piercing through—the veil of darkness and blindness and He would show me the truth. That is what I’m trying to say as our prayers ask for …. The Spirit we say is in us to enter through that veil that blinds and deceives a person so that, one who is blind may see. Romans says we have access to the Father. That He hears our prayers. To me that is what is the Hope of the glory of God. Do you hope He enters in the veil and wakes me up?

Totally agree that rabbit holes lead to DEAD ends, yes!

There is no repairing of the breach between heaven and hell, no. That's why it says that gulf is FIXED. Jesus came only to repair the breach between God and man (and we could say between Jew and Gentile, though I doubt that's what that particular scrip is particularly referring to).

Must be careful of ascribing lessons to parables that Jesus didn't intend. That is also the error of assuming this is an example of someone going to heaven apart from faith. Jesus simply wasn't addressing that in this parable He was speaking to something else.
Many rabbit holes indeed sister . Instead of preaching CHRIST , many would rather omit the severity side .
Yet the answer was and is , Preach CHRIST , for a believer will never have to face the second death .
Instead some rather try and invent rabbit holes to find ways around it . WHEN the simple solution is BELIEVE YE ON CHRIST JESUS .
But as you already know some dont like that approach at all .

Yes, As paul said

9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

It is peace knowing we will be spared from Gods eternal wrath.

What does justified by his blood mean to you?

Yes indeed . Let he or she who glories , GLORY in THE LORD .
Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom , or the rich man in his riches .
Let the saved one boast in HE WHO has saved him , the gift of GOD in Christ JESUS .
Let he who boasts , let she who glories , GLORY and BOAST IN THE GLORIOUS LORD . Now lift those hands up sister ,
ITS LORD praising and thanking time . Many boast in the flesh , but the lambs shall boast in GOD
and praise and thank HIM for the mercy of HIS grace given us in CHRIST JESUS . By which we are justified
made righteous , sancitified and redeemed . GLORY in the LORD dear sister . Thats right you POINT TO HIM . Sing
to the LORD .

The veil being torn means you can go face to face with God. Right here and right now. Based on that justification based On he cross.

The veil represented what seperated us from God. We could not approach him, if we did, we would die.

so I would not use it the way you are using it here as a veil of blindness

I just pray you are open, I pray we all are open Because once we close our eyes and think we have got it all figured out. We stop being teachable.. I had to learn this lesson the hard way, Thankfully people prayed for me..

And when folks shall turn to the LORD the veil shall be lifted from their eyes .
For the lambs do know , IT IS CHRIST ALONE who has made the way , is the way and has entered into the holiest of holies
Not on earth , but in heaven itself to appear for us , making intercession for the lambs .
Point always and continuously to the glorious LORD .

There is one condition God requires to save you, (= which is to give you "the GIFT of Salvation" and "the Gift of Righteousness".)

1.) "Faith".

"Faith is counted as righteousness".....>"Justification by faith", without deeds of the law.

Jesus said.." All that BELIEVE IN ME (Faith) I give unto them ETERNAL LIFE, and they shall never go to Hell (perish)"
Point to Christ till the last breath .

Romans says we have access to the Father.

The Cross of Christ gives the born again believer eternal access to God.

Salvation is "the simplicity that is in Christ".

Let say that you are talking to a unbeliever, and they are curious about going to heaven.

Its very simple.

God is Holy, and we are unholy.. as "all have sinned".
So, God can't have us in His family of HOLY, unless we become the same.
We can't do that of ourselves, as we are "all have sinned".
So, God sent Jesus to the Cross and Jesus died for our sin.... that is "forgiveness".
But that does not make us Holy, that just makes us forgiven.
See that?
So, there is what is called a Divine Exchange... which can help you understand what God does next...
This is. Jesus pays for our sin, and then God give to us His Righteousness, as a Gift. "The Gift of Righteousness".
This is to be "saved".......its that God has given to us His very on Righteousness......as a eternal GIFT.
This is literally a miracle as God is causing us to receive of Himself, something that is SPIRITUAL and Eternal.
This is to become "born again". Spiritually. This is God causing the spirit in you, to be Joined to His.. = Born......again. Spiritually.
This is to become a "new Creation"... a "Son/Daughter" of God.
And the Bible refers to this Spiritual GIFT as being "made righteous"., and that is what it means to become a "born again"... CHRISTian.

You never know, you could one day wake up and read the same commentary they’ve read.

Mock Much?

I don’t get my doctrines from commentaries. I believe what I believe based on deep study. And looking at every side. Some of my beliefs I have changed based on what I have seen people in here say. Because we need to be open..

We will be held accountable for what we believe. Not for what we read in a book, or what our pastor or leader or prophet” tells us.. If we do not get the gospel right. God will not give us a “get out of hell free” card because we listened to some pastor. Or read some commentary, or followed a particular church or group.

Psychological warfare @ it's best shown by OP ( not a compliment, btw)

Taking the weak ( not spiritual or been in the Spirit ),taking the broken & bent ( full of doubt / lacking confidence in anything), taking the unlearned ( indoctrinated) & unwilling to receive & apply/ believe & grow), taking away from God by pretty hand rolled speech & flattery will be the unrighteous cost, a cost that has been paid @ the cross; but rejected.

Taking away from the principal foundation, the chief cornerstone, to lay ones own brick & mortar, refusing the guidance of the Spirit through the word to grow & mature, will be required in account of every word spoken or written, but hey it's an individual choice made by each.........only don't be caught with their blood on your head & their hearts in your hands .....for that will cost YOUR SOUL !!!!!

Being dead to sin goes beyond just not doing as the world does. According to the Lord, the religious person can become more sinful even than the world based on pride, judgmentalism, and taking on a mocking spirit. We can take on a false covering. We all have an inner man...and some of us even have been regenerated in the Spirit. But evangelicalism, and the doctrines associated with it, can make it very easy to become puffed up in the outer man. When the outer man gets edified along with the inner man...the result is worse than before.

Whatever is mixed with truth becomes that at the expense of the truth. We can only defend the truth by practicing the truth. There is no mixture permissible in holiness.

Whatever is mixed with the outer man, as pure as that might be, only puffs him up the more. That's why the power of the cross is essential for growth in Christ.

being dead to sin means you have been baptized into Christ. and hence sin has no more rule over you.

The power of the cross is justification. Which is why as Paul said.

Romans 5: 5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

This is the power of the cross. This is the power of salvation and the power which gives us freedom over sin.
