This isn’t about a “greater Rock” or an “inferior Rock”. It’s about what Jesus told Simon bar Jonah.

Matt. 16:18-19
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

One of your many gravely misunderstood Scriptures.

FACT ~
Jesus asked 2 questions.
1~ (Who the people were saying Jesus IS)
His Disciples answered.
2~ (Who His Disciples believe Jesus IS)
None of the Disciples KNEW the answer.

FACT ~
God in Heaven GAVE “Simon Barjona” the Answer.
“Simon Barjona” repeated verbally the Answer God GAVE “Simon Barjona”.

FACT ~
The Answer to Jesus’ Question, God Gave “Simon Barjona” and “Simon Barjona” VERBALLY stated, Gods ANSWER of: IS WHO JESUS IS.

Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

FACT ~
Jesus acknowledged the Truth of the Answer God GAVE “Simon Barjona”.

FACT ~
Jesus revealed “Simon Barjona” was BLESSED, to have been given from God, the TRUE ANSWER, to Jesus’ Question, OF WHO JESUS IS.

FACT ~
Jesus acknowledged “Simon Barjona’s” BLESSING, by Calling “Simon Barjona”...”Peter”.

FACT ~
Jesus focuses ON THE ANSWER TO HIS QUESTION.

FACT ~
The ANSWER ~ JESUS IS THE CHRIST, the Son of the Living God.

FACT ~ THIS ANSWER ~ “IS THE ROCK UPON WHICH JESUS THE CHRIST WILL BUILD HIS CHURCH”!!!

FACT ~ Jesus’ CHURCH IS: Jesus’ the Christ’s Church, the Son of the Living God.

FACT ~ Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God, IS THE HEAD, and CHIEF Corner Stone of HIS Church, HE will BUILD on a SOLID foundation of ROCK.

FACT ~ You should have learned; JESUS IS the Word of God.
FACT ~ You should have learned; CHRIST IS the Power, Wisdom, Seed of God.
FACT ~ You should have learned: A foundation of ROCK does not shift or change.

FACT ~ You should have learned: MEMBERSHIP in Christ Jesus’ Church ARE Terrestrial MEN, ADDED one by one as little stones upon stone, in a fashion A BUILDING IS BUILT, in the fashion CHRIST JESUS’ Revealed HE WOULD BUILD “HIS” CHURCH.

FACT ~ You should have learned: The FIRST MEMBERS ADDED TO “JESUS CHRIST’S CHURCH”....
WERE Jesus’ Chosen DISCIPLES.

FACT ~ Jesus’ Chosen JEWISH DISCIPLES, were Taught, Were Confessed IN Belief....(Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God)....
WERE THE First;
With the WORD of God IN THEM,
With the POWER of God IN THEM,
with the WISDOM of God IN THEM,
with the SEED of God IN THEM.....
WERE THE First;
MEMBERS of Jesus the Christ’s CHURCH;
BUILT UPON....Jesus IS the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

FACT ~ EVERY new MEMBER of Jesus the Christ’s CHURCH;
IS as stone upon stone of Christ Jesus’ ROCK FOUNDATION Church.

I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. WHATEVER YOU BIND on earth shall be bound in heaven; and WHATEVER YOU LOOSE on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

YET another of your gravely misunderstood Scriptures.

WHATEVER....ANY MEMBER of Christ JESUS CHURCH....

Binds on earth shall be bound in heaven....
And
Looses on earth shall be loosed in heaven...

^^^^^^ THAT^^^^^^

IS NOT about your implication of PETER holding some sort of power to dictate WHO shall enter or be refused entry into Heaven.

THAT IS: about EVERY INDIVIDUAL MEMBER OF Christ Jesus Church...
OWN ACCOUNTABILITY, “OF FORGIVENESS FOR (or NOT) of TRESPASSES” between and amongst men.

A Man who forgives another man of Trespasses against him...SO ALSO SHALL THAT man BE FORGIVEN his own Trespasses .... IN HEAVEN.

A Man who DOES NOT forgive another man of Trespasses against him....SO ALSO SHALL his own Trespasses NOT be FORGIVEN him.... IN HEAVEN.

READ and LEARN Gods OWN TRUTH....
instead of being TOLD what to BELIEVE!

From the OP:
The word church was first used in the New Testament and is a translation of the Greek word ekklesia, which means a calling out. Jesus said to his disciples, “I have chosen you out of the world.” (John 15:19) The true church is a company of believers who, in accepting the invitation of Christ, have become sanctified or separated from the world, worldly pursuits and worldly organizations.

Act 7:34
I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
Act 7:35
This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
Act 7:36
He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
Act 7:37
This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
Act 7:38
This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
Act 7:39
To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
Act 7:40
Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

ekklēsía, ek-klay-see'-ah; from a compound of G1537 and a derivative of G2564; a calling out, i.e. (concretely) a popular meeting, especially a religious congregation (Jewish synagogue, or Christian community of members on earth or saints in heaven or both):—assembly, church.

How easily the children in the wilderness fell away from following God and his messenger Moses.
After 40 years of God providing for them, it took only 40 days and nights to rebel.

When Moses came down from the mountain, the chilfren of Israel had created for themselves an idol, a golden calf to worship.
Moses was wroth and cast down God's words written with His own finger, spoken by His own mouth, to the ground and shattered them in pieces.

Moses didn't say, let's just sit down together and break some bread and try to get along.
This day there would be a dividing of the wheat from the tares.

Exo 32:7
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
Exo 32:15
And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
Exo 32:16
And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

Exo 32:19
And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
Exo 32:20
And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

Exo 32:26
Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
Exo 32:27
And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
Exo 32:28
And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

Act 7:42
Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
Act 7:43
Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

Rephan,
Ῥαιφάν (Rhaiphan)
Noun - Genitive Masculine Singular
Strong's 4481: Rephan, the Saturn of later mythology. By incorrect transliteration for a word of Hebrew origin; Remphan, an Egyptian idol.

Act 17:16
Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.
Act 17:17
Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.
Act 17:18
Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

This isn't about Catholicism or Judaism or even Americanism.
The whole world is infested with idolatry.

Act 17:22
Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
Act 17:23
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
Act 17:24
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Act 17:25
Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
Act 17:26
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
Act 17:27
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
Act 17:28
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Act 17:29
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
Act 17:30
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

1Co 10:14
Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Hugs
In my early years of Salvation, thru reading/praying scripture back to the Lord, i realized that Israel was using the Star of Remphan.

Doctrine:

Mat 16:5
And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
Mat 16:6
Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Mat 16:7
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
Mat 16:8
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
Mat 16:9
Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Mat 16:10
Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Mat 16:11
How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
Mat 16:12
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Of Bread and Wine.

Deu 8:3
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Mat 4:1
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Mat 4:2
And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
Mat 4:3
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
Mat 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Jhn 6:35
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. Jhn 6:48

I am that bread of life.

Jhn 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Deu 11:18
Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
Deu 11:19
And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deu 11:20
And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
Deu 11:21
That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

1Co 11:23
For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
1Co 11:24
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

What did Moses brake?
The stone tables written with the Commandments. These were God's word written in stone.
But NOW:
Heb 8:10
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Bread represents doctrine or teaching.
The Old covenant was broken. That which was old was being made new. New doctrine in Spirit and in Truth. Just like He told the Samitan woman at the well.

Jhn 4:23
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Jhn 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

1Co 11:25
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

What is the new testament?
It is the GOSPEL.

1Co 11:26
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

Mat 4:23
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Listen:

1Co 11:27
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
1Co 11:28
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
1Co 11:29
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
1Co 11:30
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
1Co 11:31
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

Luk 9:6
And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
Act 2:46
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Act 2:47
Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Rom 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Rom 10:15
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Listen:
Rom 15:29
And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
1Co 10:16
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

What is the blood? It is the Gospel, the New Covenant. What is the bread? His words, His teachings, His doctrine.

Psa 116:13
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

Psa 3:8
Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

What is the blood? thy blessing upon thy people. He is Our cup of blessing poured out.

Act 10:45
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

There is another cup.
Rev 14:9
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
Rev 14:10
The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

1Co 11:29
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

One cup leads to salvation and the other to damnation.
Choose wisely.

I know many catholics and non catholics who get along.. We have catholics in a saturday morning prayer meeting we have..

A particular Catholic on this forum has posted multiple, multiple, multiple times, implicating the Solidarity of the Catholic Church is a reflection of it’s being THE True Church. And tossing in the “splintering” of Protestant Churches as a reflection in his Carnal Mindedness of a Protestant Church and it’s members thereof, NOT being the True Church.

FACT ~ Christ Jesus did not Establish “THE Catholic Church”.
FACT ~ Gentile men Established “THE Catholic Church”.
FACT ~ The Catholic Church was the FIRST Church Congregation to Splinter.
FACT ~ Jesus’ Disciples were SENT to PREACH in JEWISH Synagogues.
FACT ~ The Catholic Church Splintered from the JEWISH Synagogues.
FACT ~ The Catholic GENTILE Congregation Splintered from JEWS.
FACT ~ The Catholic GENTILE Congregation Church Splintered from the Catholic Church.
FACT ~ A GENTILE Catholic Church Congregational Member PROTESTED False TEACHINGS and corrupt DOINGS OF the BISHOPS of the Catholic Church.
FACT ~ (par for course) The Catholic Bishops Denied the claims (which WERE TRUE), and Call that Gentile Catholic NAMES, and booted him out of the Catholic Church Congregation.

FACT ~ Christ Jesus’ ESTABLISH-ED His Church IS WITHIN a CONVERTED (sav-ed & quicken-ed) man.
FACT ~ Regardless OF WHAT MAN is a MEMBER of whatever man-made “CHURCH CONGREGATION”.... “IF” that man IS NOT CONVERTED, he IS NOT a MEMBER of Christ Jesus’ Church.

FACT ~ NOT every member of EVERY man-made Church, are in COMPLETE AGREEMENT....regarding ALL POINTS revealed in Scripture.

**** FACT ~ Christ Jesus’ ONE TRUE CHURCH IS WITHIN MEN WHO ARE CONVERTED IN Christ.

Glory to God,

Would you like to see this Cup of Blessing and the Bread of Life?

Mat 5:1
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
Mat 5:2
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Mat 5:3
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:4
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Mat 5:5
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Mat 5:6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Mat 5:7
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Mat 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Mat 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Mat 5:10
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:11
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Bon Apetite

Under the New Covenant = ALL false prophets/teachers or just plain ignorance separate Jew from Gentile in Christ.

The moment you see/here people/christians/other separating Jew from Gentile in the Body of Christ there is a Lie brewing.

Act 17:24
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Act 17:25
Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
Act 17:26
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

The Star of David is not the star of Remphan
It is sad to watch Christians dip their hands in the sewer to get things to throw at each other.
Monkeys do things like that.

You can look up the Star of David, which of course is Jewish.

Something struck me in my own heart this morning.
I am an American. I am very Patriotic. I stand with the national anthem and I pledge alliegence to our flag.
none of us are immune to idolatry to one extent or another.

I pledge allegience to a particular country and it's policies.
But in TRUTH my allegience is to God and His word Alone.

My perspective is clearer now.
This world can't save us no matter how much allegience we give to it.

I don't mean to offend anyone.
It's just that things are becoming more serious, and we need to be not so ignorant of what we do.
We have all been indoctrinated into the ways of the world, in ways we don't always see.

4. As the sacred synod searches into the mystery of the Church, it remembers the bond that spiritually ties the people of the New Covenant to Abraham's stock.

Thus the Church of Christ acknowledges that, according to God's saving design, the beginnings of her faith and her election are found already among the Patriarchs, Moses and the prophets. She professes that all who believe in Christ-Abraham's sons according to faith (6)-are included in the same Patriarch's call, and likewise that the salvation of the Church is mysteriously foreshadowed by the chosen people's exodus from the land of bondage. The Church, therefore, cannot forget that she received the revelation of the Old Testament through the people with whom God in His inexpressible mercy concluded the Ancient Covenant. Nor can she forget that she draws sustenance from the root of that well-cultivated olive tree onto which have been grafted the wild shoots, the Gentiles.(7) Indeed, the Church believes that by His cross Christ, Our Peace, reconciled Jews and Gentiles. making both one in Himself.(8)

The Church keeps ever in mind the words of the Apostle about his kinsmen: "theirs is the sonship and the glory and the covenants and the law and the worship and the promises; theirs are the fathers and from them is the Christ according to the flesh" (Rom. 9:4-5), the Son of the Virgin Mary. She also recalls that the Apostles, the Church's main-stay and pillars, as well as most of the early disciples who proclaimed Christ's Gospel to the world, sprang from the Jewish people.

As Holy Scripture testifies, Jerusalem did not recognize the time of her visitation,(9) nor did the Jews in large number, accept the Gospel; indeed not a few opposed its spreading.(10) Nevertheless, God holds the Jews most dear for the sake of their Fathers; He does not repent of the gifts He makes or of the calls He issues-such is the witness of the Apostle.(11) In company with the Prophets and the same Apostle, the Church awaits that day, known to God alone, on which all peoples will address the Lord in a single voice and "serve him shoulder to shoulder" (Soph. 3:9).(12)

Since the spiritual patrimony common to Christians and Jews is thus so great, this sacred synod wants to foster and recommend that mutual understanding and respect which is the fruit, above all, of biblical and theological studies as well as of fraternal dialogues.

True, the Jewish authorities and those who followed their lead pressed for the death of Christ;(13) still, what happened in His passion cannot be charged against all the Jews, without distinction, then alive, nor against the Jews of today. Although the Church is the new people of God, the Jews should not be presented as rejected or accursed by God, as if this followed from the Holy Scriptures. All should see to it, then, that in catechetical work or in the preaching of the word of God they do not teach anything that does not conform to the truth of the Gospel and the spirit of Christ.

Furthermore, in her rejection of every persecution against any man, the Church, mindful of the patrimony she shares with the Jews and moved not by political reasons but by the Gospel's spiritual love, decries hatred, persecutions, displays of anti-Semitism, directed against Jews at any time and by anyone.

Besides, as the Church has always held and holds now, Christ underwent His passion and death freely, because of the sins of men and out of infinite love, in order that all may reach salvation. It is, therefore, the burden of the Church's preaching to proclaim the cross of Christ as the sign of God's all-embracing love and as the fountain from which every grace flows.

Wounds to unity

817
In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious dissensions appeared and large communities became separated from full communion with the Catholic Church - for which, often enough, men of both sides were to blame."269 The ruptures that wound the unity of Christ's Body - here we must distinguish heresy, apostasy, and schism270 - do not occur without human sin:

Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.271

818 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers . . . . All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."272

819 "Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth"273 are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements."274 Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church. All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him,275 and are in themselves calls to "Catholic unity."276

Toward unity

820
"Christ bestowed unity on his Church from the beginning. This unity, we believe, subsists in the Catholic Church as something she can never lose, and we hope that it will continue to increase until the end of time."277 Christ always gives his Church the gift of unity, but the Church must always pray and work to maintain, reinforce, and perfect the unity that Christ wills for her. This is why Jesus himself prayed at the hour of his Passion, and does not cease praying to his Father, for the unity of his disciples: "That they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be one in us, . . . so that the world may know that you have sent me."278 The desire to recover the unity of all Christians is a gift of Christ and a call of the Holy Spirit.279

I thank the Lord that he has led us to make progress along the path of unity and communion between Christians, a path difficult but so full of joy. Interconfessional dialogues at the theological level have produced positive and tangible results: this encourages us to move forward.

Nevertheless, besides the doctrinal differences needing to be resolved, Christians cannot underestimate the burden of long-standing misgivings inherited from the past, and of mutual misunderstandings and prejudices. Complacency, indifference and insufficient knowledge of one another often make this situation worse. Consequently, the commitment to ecumenism must be based upon the conversion of hearts and upon prayer, which will also lead to the necessary purification of past memories. With the grace of the Holy Spirit, the Lord's disciples, inspired by love, by the power of the truth and by a sincere desire for mutual forgiveness and reconciliation, are called to re-examine together their painful past and the hurt which that past regrettably continues to provoke even today. All together, they are invited by the ever fresh power of the Gospel to acknowledge with sincere and total objectivity the mistakes made and the contingent factors at work at the origins of their deplorable divisions. What is needed is a calm, clear-sighted and truthful vision of things, a vision enlivened by divine mercy and capable of freeing people's minds and of inspiring in everyone a renewed willingness, precisely with a view to proclaiming the Gospel to the men and women of every people and nation.

1. The Gospel of life is at the heart of Jesus' message. Lovingly received day after day by the Church, it is to be preached with dauntless fidelity as "good news" to the people of every age and culture.

At the dawn of salvation, it is the Birth of a Child which is proclaimed as joyful news: "I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Lk 2:10-11). The source of this "great joy" is the Birth of the Savior; but Christmas also reveals the full meaning of every human birth, and the joy which accompanies the Birth of the Messiah is thus seen to be the foundation and fulfilment of joy at every child born into the world (cf. Jn 16:21).

When he presents the heart of his redemptive mission, Jesus says: "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (Jn 10:10). In truth, he is referring to that "new" and "eternal" life which consists in communion with the Father, to which every person is freely called in the Son by the power of the Sanctifying Spirit. It is precisely in this "life" that all the aspects and stages of human life achieve their full significance.

The incomparable worth of the human person

2. Man is called to a fullness of life which far exceeds the dimensions of his earthly existence, because it consists in sharing the very life of God. The loftiness of this supernatural vocation reveals the greatness and the inestimable value of human life even in its temporal phase. Life in time, in fact, is the fundamental condition, the initial stage and an integral part of the entire unified process of human existence. It is a process which, unexpectedly and undeservedly, is enlightened by the promise and renewed by the gift of divine life, which will reach its full realization in eternity (cf. 1 Jn 3:1-2). At the same time, it is precisely this supernatural calling which highlights the relative character of each individual's earthly life. After all, life on earth is not an "ultimate" but a "penultimate" reality; even so, it remains a sacred reality entrusted to us, to be preserved with a sense of responsibility and brought to perfection in love and in the gift of ourselves to God and to our brothers and sisters.

The Church knows that this Gospel of life, which she has received from her Lord, 1 has a profound and persuasive echo in the heart of every person-believer and non-believer alike-because it marvelously fulfils all the heart's expectations while infinitely surpassing them. Even in the midst of difficulties and uncertainties, every person sincerely open to truth and goodness can, by the light of reason and the hidden action of grace, come to recognize in the natural law written in the heart (cf. Rom 2:14-15) the sacred value of human life from its very beginning until its end, and can affirm the right of every human being to have this primary good respected to the highest degree. Upon the recognition of this right, every human community and the political community itself are founded.

In a special way, believers in Christ must defend and promote this right, aware as they are of the wonderful truth recalled by the Second Vatican Council: "By his incarnation the Son of God has united himself in some fashion with every human being".2 This saving event reveals to humanity not only the boundless love of God who "so loved the world that he gave his only Son" (Jn 3:16), but also the incomparable value of every human person.

The Church, faithfully contemplating the mystery of the Redemption, acknowledges this value with ever new wonder.3 She feels called to proclaim to the people of all times this "Gospel", the source of invincible hope and true joy for every period of history.
The Gospel of God's love for man, the Gospel of the dignity of the person and the Gospel of life are a single and indivisible Gospel.

For this reason, man-living man-represents the primary and fundamental way for the Church. 4

New threats to human life

3. Every individual, precisely by reason of the mystery of the Word of God who was made flesh (cf. Jn 1:14), is entrusted to the maternal care of the Church. Therefore every threat to human dignity and life must necessarily be felt in the Church's very heart; it cannot but affect her at the core of her faith in the Redemptive Incarnation of the Son of God, and engage her in her mission of proclaiming the Gospel of life in all the world and to every creature (cf. Mk 16:15).

Today this proclamation is especially pressing because of the extraordinary increase and gravity of threats to the life of individuals and peoples, especially where life is weak and defenseless. In addition to the ancient scourges of poverty, hunger, endemic diseases, violence and war, new threats are emerging on an alarmingly vast scale.

How's that working out for us?
I don't think I need to remind you where we are headed regarfing religious freedom, forget about freedom of speech.
Our rights are being and have been being stripped from us from one administration to another.

You recall the story of the Hebrews coming under the Totalitarian rule of Pharoah?
What was the straw for?
Was ANYTHING that was being built, made to help the spirit of the people doing the work?
No, and when they cried, Pharoah made their burden even heavier. He needed more straw and less mercy towards the people.

As you consider this, Listen to the House Hearing this morning regarding the 2024 Budget with Janet Yellen.

Connect the dots.
