The church is the body of Christ...
1 Corinthians 12:21, "For just as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body—though many—are one body, so too is Christ."
1 Corinthians 12:27, "Now you are Christ’s body, and each of you is a member of it."
... it is not any one denomination.
The Bible - which YOU claim to be our SOLE Authority teaches against factions/denominations (1 cor. 3:4-7).
It teaches that the Church is to remain ONE - as Jesus and the Father are ONE (John 17:20-23).
Sooooo - why are there lliterally tens of thousands of disjointed and perpetually-splintering Protestannt factions that ALL teach different doctrines yet ALL claim to be part of the "ONE" Church?
I have news for you: the teachings of the Catholic church (and there are many of them) that depart from the teachings of the Bible, the word of God, are nothing more than men's teachings. If it's not in the Bible, it is the invention of men.
He told the leaders of His Church that whoever listened to or rejected THEM listed to HIM and the ONE who sent Him. That is why we have the Bible: the infallible word of God written by the apostles and prophets.
Here are just some of the things that are not in the Bible...
The Catholic denomination
The Pope
Cardinals
Mary "ever virgin"
Peter was the first Pope
Praying to dead people
Permission for the Crusades
Permission for the Inquisitions
Calling any man "father" Matthew 23:9, " And call no one your ‘father’ on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven."
The absolution of sins by saying x number of Hail Mary prayers
etc., etc. etc.
The Bible -- the writings of the prophets and apostles -- is the infallible word of God!
The Cathollic Church isn't a "denomination".
It's the Original Tree fro which Protestantism splintered - and continues to splinter to this day.We can go over SOME of the things you listed that aren't blatant lies.
Most of what you listed shows me that you have a small child's understandoing of Catholic doctrine.
Actually - I take that back., I don't want to insult small children that way . . .
And so far - you have FAILED to show a verse that supports this fallacy . . .Sola scriptura!
