Yes one in purpose.
It goes on to say all the followers will become one with them= in purpose. That purpose is living to Do Jesus Fathers will over our own will-Matthew 7:21-John 5:30. Like Jesus does. He also taught the Father is greater than him, And the bible teaches only the Father knows the day and hour--proves your thinking is error. And that being one = in purpose.
Of course He is one in Purpose, however the High-Light IS, the Father and Son Are........ONE GOD.
Immediately after Jesus said....”I and my father are one”....the Jews accused Jesus of doing exactly what He was doing...”claiming to Be God!”
John 10:
[30] I and my Father are one. <— ONE WHAT? What is God?
A Purpose? What is God? The Creator? The Maker? The Heavenly God?
[31] Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
[32] Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
[33] The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
