We (Christians)
are the temple under construction, Hobie. As Paul says:
"So then you (Gentiles) are no longer strangers and aliens, but you (Gentiles) are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, in Whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In Him you (Gentiles) also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit" (Ephesians 2:19-22).
And the writer of Hebrews says:
"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God" (Hebrews 11:8-10).
I think there will be buildings in the new heaven and new earth, though. :) And I think some of them will probably be... temples/churches. :)
Grace and peace to all!
