Why do we hear a different message from neighbor?

I don't think God gives a fig what we think...if He says we are One..then we are..those that are his children, those that love Him and strive to serve Him ..blood washed and made clean. Like it or not, we are One family.
I have many cousins back in England..we are 'splintered' as it were..we lost touch over years...but still are in the same family.

This makes me think of my grandchildren. The oldest is ten. He gets so embarrassed by the younger ones and sometimes by me also. He shakes his head and comments that he wishes he could live with a different family. He is kidding of course. I always tell him, "too bad. We're family. You're stuck with us." He asks, "well, what if I grow up and move to the other side of the world?" I say, "We will still be your family. You're not getting rid of us." :)

Yes, I agree which makes it a miracle that I am able to interpret scripture at all. I wouldn't know what...did you say my 'protestant forefathers" taught. I don't read them. Nor do I read commentaries. If you say I am protestant then it must be true. Church: individual (members) that are under the head which is Christ making up the perfect man, to be revealed. One body. One mind, which is the mind of Christ. Agree or no?

Re Ignore option

@ByGrace, if someone quotes the ignored person you still may see
the darn thing that may turn your stomach...but, what happens is the posts go
#51, #53...so you know somebody posted.
Now at the end of the page it gives you the option "Show all ignored posts".
Over the years, what I have found is that if a person writes things that super bother me...they 99% always will...so I learn not to bother with my curiosity...it's like having the discipline to not look at a train wreck over and over.

Without judgment I see some as just being on a different wavelength...and it is a requency I prefer not to tune into. Sure,
Heavy Metal gives ME a headache ...but, diff strokes for diff folks, right?

Now I do agree that as ONE Church we do not all "keep the unity of the Spirit"...but that does not un-One us!! There are indeed squabbles amongst us...as there are with kids...but really...you are stuck we me like it or not.

This is just how I see it.

And it's fine to have squabbles about non-essential things.
The problem, however is that many Protestant groups teach different doctrines regarding essential matters of the faith:

Some Protestant denominations believe in baptismal regeneration, while others do not.
Some believe in soul-sleep, while others do not.
Some believe in the total depravity of man, while others do not.
Some believe in the Holy Trinity, while others do not.
Some believe in doctrine of “once saved, always saved”, while others do not.
Some believe in a pre-tribulation “Rapture”, while others do not.
Some believe that only those who were predestined will make it to heaven, while others do not.
Some believe that some were predestined for hell, while others do not.
Some believe in a woman’s right to choose abortion, while others do not.
Some believe that practicing homosexuality is a sin, while others do not.
Most believe in contraception, while others do not – and the list goes on.

This does not illustrate the perfect ONEness that Jesus prayed for at the Last Supper:
John 17:20-23
“I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be ONE, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.
And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be ONE, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as ONE, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me.

I think you're wrong. God DOES give a "fig" about what we think.

I have never been in a roman catholic church other than once for a sprinkling of water baptism of an infant. I can't tell you the format of the worship service or what the preacher (or priest?) preaches on. I don't know what that looks like. All I know is what I have seen on television. I am sure you have heard it all before and have been asked it all before. You can answer or not.

Within the Church:
If you agree the head is Christ...
Is Mary considered a part of the head or a part of the body?
Is the Pope considered a part of the head or a part of the body?

And you say RCC is not splintered but this water baptism I attended was a branch that had splintered off from the main church. It was a more relaxed version of RCC but still with the tall hats and under the Pope's authority. A woman was the Priest that performed the baptism.

Okay - first of all - as to your questions:
Within the Church:
1. If you agree the head is Christ...
2. Is Mary considered a part of the head or a part of the body?
3. Is the Pope considered a part of the head or a part of the body?

1. Christ IS the Head of the Church. the Pope is his chief representative (vicar) on earth.
2. Mary is part of the Body like the rest of us.
3. The Pope is part of the Body like the rest of us.

Secondly - your comments about that "Baptism" you attended are wrong.
This was NOT a "Catholic" Baptism - but a baptism that occurred in some sort of renegade offshoot of the Catholic Church.

The first thing that should have tipped you off was the female "priest".
There are NO female priests in the Catholic Church. It was NOT under the Pope's Authority.

When I came to this forum - you guys were having a field day spewing lies, myths and other filth about what the Catholic Church teaches.
As soon as I started exposing your lies - you guys all started screaming about how "rude" or "mean" and "uncharitable" I was.
What is more mean, rude and uncharitable than LIES?

I don't see this happening in the church today and I want to. The disciples were of one accord. Are we? Is the body of Christ still of one accord?

of course they are; you are just looking for them where you expect to find them, and not where the fruit is produced, by your own admission. The Church is doing great, better than ever even. Fwiw grace can only abound where sin abounds, so you might have gotten some "collective" interp of that passage that may need more reflection, too.

if you are dead to self, and willing to serve everyone else, then yes. And if you have not died, then no. And it isn't like the fruit is hard to discern or anything; it just is not taught in traditional church for obvious reasons, and traditional church is the first place we think of when we contemplate God, for the same reason, that being that we are legal-minded.

And pastors get a lot of grief for this, but it is the ppl who really manifest this; most pastors are anxious to practice grace imo. or at least many of them are.

Remember - every type in the Old Testament sees its fulfillment in the New Testament.

In the Old Testament, there were three levels of Priests:
1. Aaron, the High Priest
2. The Ministerial (Levitical) Priesthood
3. The rest of the people were a general priesthood of believers.

In the New Testament, there are also three levels of Priests:
1. Jesus, our High Priest (1 Tim. 2:5, Heb. 7:22-25)
2. The Ministerial Priests (John 20:21-23, 1 Thess. 5:12, 1 Tim. 5:17, James 5:14-15)
3. The general priesthood of all Christians (1 Peter 2:5-9).

I can't refute that because they DID do some bad things. Before you go pointing fingers, however - do your homework.

Try reading a book by Protestant author Philip Jenkins called, Pedophiles and Priests. Jenkins lays out all of the REAL statistics about how the molestation problem is worse than it ever was in the Catholic Church. The reason you don't hear so much about it is because there is no money in it for the lawyers.

Simply put - before you go pointing fingers at others - clean up the mess in your own backyard . . .
