A prophecy of them being re-born in a single day was made about 600 BC as they were exiled from their land. This was fulfilled in 1948. No nation has such a story, such a right to the land as Israel, a right bestowed by God himself!

For some reason, you want to pick up the story beginning in the 19th century with Modern Zionism, from the influence Theodor Herzl. I've heard ridiculous allegations that the Jews who settled Israel in 1948 were not genetic Jews or some such nonsense forming a basis for them not being "real" Jews or the Jews of the Bible.
