Fair enough. Let's keep the peace.
You held to your guns, That's good.

The context is why I don't buy the standard interpretation of 1 John 2:19.
This is talking about church leaders that have gone astray. IMHO

And... is it really the last hour? (back then) What is it now? The last nanosecond?
Some believe that Revelation has already happened.
If i were to speak on the last hour this would be part of it(not the whole).

The phrase 'last hour' used by the Apostle John is coming from his understanding of the Spiritual Dynamic that changed once the LORD Jesus rose from the dead and proved Himself for 40 days to the Disciples.

John is saying to us that the countdown to satan's final demise is a 'done-deal' and that the many little antichrist's running around is an absolute precursor to the final Antichrist.

i believe that parts of Revelation has taken place and is continuing until (as our LORD says) "until all things are fulfilled.

i greatly appreciate our laughter together = let's keep it strong along with encouragement in the WORD

Good Night

P.S. - speaking of 'night', i am having great difficulty in falling asleep, being kept up even to 4am in the morning

Maybe don't exaggerate? Maybe? (let me know when you are sure)
Maybe don't exaggerate for dramatic effect?
Why else would you exaggerate?
I know you exaggerated. "Maybe" don't do that because your claim isn't true, was a suggestion to assist you in future.
Exaggerating and falsehood is not how to be a credible writer.

There are people infinitely smarter than us who don't buy it anymore.
Scary thought.
Not at all my brother. Raw intelligence has NOTHING to do with the faith that God bestows upon those that he blesses.

1 Corinthians 1:27 ESV
But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;

Badgering is not being a friend. What can I do to help you?

1 John 5:11 - And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. Praise God! :)
The reason baptism is so a must...we thereby acknowledge Christ. We repent, thereby acknowledging God as our Creator.

Bible scholars are leaving Christianity in droves. Why?
Not because they don't understand the Bible, obviously. (they're Bible scholars)

- Do you have to be Christian to believe in God?
- Do you have to agree with the institutional church's positions to believe in God?

Previous topic on this subject.
I disagree with your opening statement that Bible scholars understand the Bible. Reading and studying the Bible don't make you understand the Bible. You don't understand it till you start doing what it tells you do to.

Agree,
and
i would say that there is much in the Bible that can be 'understood' from study.

Biblical textbook understanding is not the same as 'knowing' God and His Word = John ch17 , Matt 25:1-13

As you truthfully pointed out = "till you start doing what it tells you do to."

"If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority."

I'm guessing that you didn't watch any of the videos.
You are misjudging these folks without even hearing them out.
They are MORE Christian than many Christians I know.

You'll probably come back say that you didn't need to watch. And you are right.
Where you are wrong is to misjudge someone you know NOTHING about.

I'm sure lots of Bible scholars follow the instructions found in the Bible.

Hope you read my response.
Generally, we know that acceptance of God is not wide spread in the professor/scientific columns.

Generally, we know that acceptance of God is not wide spread in the professor/scientific columns.
The testimonies of the men in the videos provided in the OP,
which the overwhelming majority of readers REFUSE to watch,
indicates that they ALL were committed Christians before they were
drawn outside of the closed system of thinking called the church.
In every case there was at least one triggering event that
indicated to them that something was wrong with the system.
Further investigation led them away.

The knee-jerk conclusion of many readers is the atypical, 1 John 2:19 response.
Which, is not true based on their personal testimonies. (in the videos)

1 John 2:19 NIV
They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us.
For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us;
but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
