Well as the religious system is called "Mystery, Babylon the great, the mother of all harlots and abominations", and the city is called Babylon the Great why do you force the city to be a non city? History shows there has been two Babylons. A city and a religious system- each unique.
Just as God used ancient Babylon to punish his disobedient people, so he uses “Babylon the great” in a similar way.
Original Babylon under the kingship of Nebuchadnezzar, was used by God, through his prophet Daniel, to show us what was to transpire in “the time of the end”, where we find ourselves now, almost at the end of these times. (Daniel 12:4, 9-10)
What did their time in Babylon do FOR Israel, as opposed to what it did TO them? They were held there for 70 years, enough time for the disobedient ones to die, and a new generation to be born in this foreign place with a foreign religion and unscriptural practices…..would this new generation stick to the true religion given to their forefathers, or would they succumb to the religious practices of those around them?
We learn from the faithful course of Daniel and his three companions, Shaʹdrach, Meʹshach, and A·bedʹne·go, that these men, who were taken captive as youths, remained steadfast in their resolve NOT to be absorbed by the religion of Babylon, and to even face death in standing fast for their faith. Jehovah rescued them in spectacular fashion, proving to the King that the God of Israel was a mighty savior of his people. Through dreams God used the king to foretell the future, not in Daniel’s time, but in the present day.
Nebuchadnezzar’s dream image was a prediction of the march of world powers from Babylon, through the conquest of the Medes and the Persians…..Greece….Rome….Britain….and in the last days…..the Anglo-American dual world power and its allies.
It is in the days of those final kings, that God will act decisively, when he brings all corrupt human rulership in the hands of the devil, to ruin….crushing them out of existence.
Daniel 2:44….
”In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever”.
We are staring down the barrel of the greatest tribulation this world has ever seen…..and only those who have removed themselves from “Babylon the great” will survive. Any mixing of church and state will be dissolved as God brings in the rule of his Kingdom under Christ, fulfilling the Lord’s Prayer…..”thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”.
Most Christians will pray that prayer by rote, without thinking about what it actually means. They will not be prepared for its fulfillment because they will have been busy supporting the earthly kingdoms of man, spilling much blood in the process, in vain wars and the stroking of the egos of corrupt men.
We are not to be part of the world, (John 17:16) just as the Israelites were not to be a part of the Babylonian world in which they were held against their will. Babylon never let their prisoners go, they absorbed them.
So, who does God see when he looks down on us? Does he see those like Daniel or his three companions, standing their ground, whilst the rest are going headlong in the opposite direction?
This will be the separating of the “wheat from the weeds”……we determine which ones we are by how far we can distance ourselves from the empire that satan has created for himself here on earth (1 John 5:19)…..which encompasses the three elements he uses to distract humanity and lead them down the wrong path……corrupt politics, greedy commercialism and false religion…..everything is about to change.
Are we ready?
That is not true of the original physical city……but the religious one was never was destroyed.Babylon has been rebuilt!
