I LOVE that verse."For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."
However - James 2:19 destroys the fallacy that "faith" and "belief" are the same thing.
James 2:19
You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
Btw, yes all true faith will produce works. But no work contributes anything to salvation, rather it's a result of salvation.
And in you abject ignorance, you fail to see that Paul is speaking the MOSAIC LAW in this verse.Galatians 2:21
I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the LAW, then Christ died needlessly.”
Faith = Belief + Works, which is obedience to the works that God has prepared FOR us (Eph. 2:10). They are not an "after-effect" of faith, nor are they works of our "own" - and they are NOT works of the Law.
Matt. 25:31-46, James 2:14-26, 1 Cor. 13:1-13, Gal. 5:-6 and many other verses show us that "FAITH" is not simply an emotion - but the WAY you live your life.
