And about half of the forum posts relate to the aspects of SALVATION in afterlife.
In my view, salvation is many-faceted.
It begins with the atonement and ends in the afterlife.
The Elect are enjoined here, the rest come later. "each in turn..."

1 Corinthians 15:22-24 NIV
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.
24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father
after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.

My spiritual food that nourishes my spirit is still the same, every word that proceeds from my Parent in heaven. In the early years it came through the bibles (milk). Ever since then His life giving words have come through various means, rarely the bible.
Such as ?

I wandered for 25 years in the charismatic movement, prophecies, tongues, the Lord showed me, the Lord told me that you.... , Thus saith the Lord...., all of it. I have seen the good sides and the bad sides, nowadays I prefer a normal evangelical church.

For me God's Spirit communicates to me through pictures (parables) and visions.

I guess I have committed a lot of the bible to memory and more importantly, memories of how the Spirit and I have lived out what He has revealed through these various means.

My focus these days is more on what's up ahead, well what the resident Spirit has made known.

Some was revealed to me through others and some direct.

What a hope we have knowing that God the Creator will reconcile ALL of Their creations to Themselves in time, in turn.

No more struggling with temptations or being challenged by trials and testing.

Thanks for sharing that.

These days I don't try to extract much at all from others, including teachers, prophets or interpreted tongues. But praise Christ for using these means to lead His body into all truth.

I believe the 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 of the New.
NKJV?
But we are given indications that all that is necessary has been recorded:

“but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” (Joh 20:31 NKJV)
I think I see where you are coming from. Yet indications are not necessarily facts or truths that one can have absolute certainty in.

What do you mean by your use of the word 'indications'?

That must indeed be the case, because human minds are not capable of grasping all the truths about the infinite Being that God is.
Yet it's been great to receive more and more of God's word beyond the bibles. We are blessed to have the privilege of continuing to receive and pass on His word to others.

Isn't it amazing that His Spirit has never stopped revealing God's never ending word to us that's way beyond what is found in every bible.

This is a good question.

And a challenging one for cessationalists. I don't know why they want to keep trying to find ways to stop God's Spirits work in and through the church.

Is it that if they can't have the joy of experiencing the exercising of certain gifts then no one will. I feel sad for them. I really do. They don't know what they are missing.

I'm not sure about you, but I get a bit weary of hearing and seeing people idolising those who contributed to the bibles.

They were only human like us. Humans that God revealed Himself to and through, just like us.

Maybe it's time to see who we are because of who God has made us into. Objects of His love through whom He reveals Himself just like them.

I am no expert in the teachings of the early church fathers (till AD ~300) but I can not mention any of them being a prophet. They (like us) were all too busy studying the available manuscripts and find consensus.

From post #4
Anna, Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene,
Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. Judas and Silas.

We are added to Christ and His Spirit carries out tasks through us. It's pretty simple really. There is no hierarchy that I'm aware of. Maybe the closest is, the greatest will be the servant of all.

I was engaged in conversation with someone just yesterday and we were encouraged by the Spirit when He reminded us that the role of encouragement is a vital function among Christ's followers.

There has been an increase in expectancy on there to be trained, qualified professionals in every field including organised Christianity.

But there is Christ the Head in heaven and the rest of His body parts on earth who are equal, as fellow children serving eachother out of love.

Let's keep professionalism out and honour Christ as our only Leader, Shepherd, Head and King.

The earlier followers of Jesus were known to be unlearned, unskilled. Far from being professional prophets, teacher, apostles, pastors, evangelists, administrators, tongue speakers, interpreters.

Those you mentioned above were simply servants of Christ and fellow children of His Father, our Father.

Again, why are some people so intent on making idols of certain fellow servants of Christ our Eldest Brother, the greatest Servant of all Who came to earth NOT to be served but to serve.

You have read, the wages of sin is death. All died in Adam. All have sinned. O wretched man that I am. Being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

All humans therefore deserve to suffer the consequences of their sin. Judgement, punishment, death, hell.

BUT, there's more......

The loving merciful gracious Creator already had a rescue plan for His own creation.

We know He sent His Christ to be the Sacrificial Lamb to take away the sin of the world, the second Adam, the Saviour, Redeemer to reconcile His creation to Himself.

Oh the precious mercy of this God and Creator which endures forever.

Feel free to quote me on this.
Already did, more than once. You said we will be in Hell FOREVER and ever!

My point is that these are named prophets in the NT.
Prophecy should be a body part of every church. Even today.

[
Yes, as Jesus the Head gives to His body through His Spirit.

But don't hold your breath. Many groups of people who identify as Christians will not receive prophecy, so the Spirit will not give His precious gifts to swine.
