These words by Jesus still stand true. People who follow Christ, are similar to the top chefs who love food. They make their entire life around food. This was an analogy I heard from a guy I have listened to for a long time.

John 3:3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

We throw that "Born Again" phrase around so casually.

What do you think Jesus meant when He said, "You must be born again"? (Or "born from Above"?)

How do you know that it's happened?

Agreed.

I think Jesus was discussing a spiritual change that happens to us by the Holy Spirit. I think it can happen to us once we have genuinely chosen to truly follow Jesus, or at least try.

How would one know? I suppose one might "know" if they begin experiencing a disdain for many of the sinful acts and thoughts that they once did habitually.

With that said, we're called to be humble and publicly proclaiming to others to be born again might be a bit haughty. However, some have testimonies of experiencing radical transformations and perhaps there is just no other way to put it than to say "I was born again". In that case it may not be self-congratulating to say so. Only Jesus knows one's intentions.

He doesn't, but that's man's free will usurping their right to choose over God's commands.
On the contrary God DOES permit (for now) evil to occur. He may not like it but he most definitely allows it. Why?

I have put some thought in to your question and I think a halo would be nice . hlo
Only Jesus knows if such proclamations are done innocently or through self-pride. I think that, as one grows closer to Christ, they will want to obey his command to be humble and will exercise great discernment in how and where they make such claims.

I used a bit of satirical humor in the post you quoted to try and drive home that point. Let us remember:

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Romans 11:25
25 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

I used to drive this and when my road-rage kicked in I'd ask my psychotic buddy to man the guns and deal with those who offended me. I no longer do that so maybe I have been "born again".
