My very first bible was given to me as a birthday present when i was 10. It was a so-called childrens illustrated version of the KJ and very small, I think I had to have it for school. I liked the pictures in it but found it hard to understand. I still have it but apart from RE lessons at school I have never used it.

The first really personal bible I had as a new Christian was the Good News version which my church used. I loved that one, and then when the Bible Society brought out the first NIV I bought one of those in paperback and used it till it fell apart. Currently I'm using a Tyndale version of the NLT which links to an app on my phone. I think it's quite a good idea to change versions every now and then because you can get so used to the wording in your favourite that it's easy to miss stuff.

My favourite one is a lovely faux leather thinline bible with gold edges and red letters. I found it in a charity shop for just £2 after I prayed for an affordable new bible. It was totally unused. I still have that but can't use it any longer as my sight has deteriorated.

Like you @Angelina , I too started with the Good News Bible. I can still remember the gold color! But, after I came to The Lord I was gifted the KJV study bible titled The Word. It is also ripped from the binding and almost EVERY PAGE is highlighted, lol. Eh, new Christians sml

My first ever Bible was a gift from my parents when I was 9years old, it’s a KJ edition with pictures every so often. I never did understand the old English - but I still have the Bible.

My husband , non Christian, brought me my first Bible after I came to faith. It’s a leather bound NIV. We use to have a local Christian book shop and so we both went together. One of the newer NIV I have, he also brought me that one while we were still married - about 20 years after the first one.

My first Bible was the King James Version.

The first Bible I read was probably a New International Version, which belonged to my brother and his wife--which I read cover to cover in about a week. But the first one I bought for myself (the KJV), I just picked because it was the cheapest and I was poor. After it nearly fell apart, and I had on more than one occasion found myself speaking the Kings' old English publicly in conversations, I ended up buying a New King James Version (NKJV). tsml

My Bible I have now is king James companion Bible. And strong concordance, and Greek lexicon. I can't remember my first Bible. Being able to go back to the Greek and Hebrew texts ,massorah, is important.

When I was a boy, the church gave all the kids a Revised Standard Version of the Bible, I think. It's still the version I use today, though I'm not sure they make them anymore.

My first Bible was a childrens KJV Bible with illustrations, and a zippered binding. My maternal grandmother bought me, my older sister, our younger brother, each one of those. Idk how old I was ...maybe 9 or 10?? The years are blurred a bit.

I didn't read it much, but when I did, I didn't understand it. But when I came to Christ, it was illuminated to me. I've never had a problem understanding it after I was saved.

I had that one (children's illustrated KJV) when I got saved at age 13. Then, the youth pastors at my church challenged us to learn the books of the Bible. I did that, and was awarded a nice KJV Thompson Chain Reference Bible. Love it!! It went everywhere with me ...slept with it under my pillow or hugged to my chest for years and yes, it is marked up with highlighting, notes, dates, underlining ...lol. I finally had to get another one, as the pages are thinned and fallen out. My current is a KJV study Bible. It's marked and highlighted as well. But I still miss my first Bible after I was saved.

I still have my first Bible. The inscription page says it was given to me by my grandparents as an Easter present in 1967. It has a zipper (that broke long ago) and some full-color plates in the back containing maps of the Holy Land.

My favorite Bible was an NIV that was actually given to our son by his Sunday School class, but they embossed the wrong name on the cover, so he didn't want it. It's seen a lot of use; the binding is held together with duct tape.

From since a child, it's been KJB all the way. FWIW, that doesn't mean I'm "KJV Only." A sweet classmate at a home bible study once gave me a Good News Bible, but it didn't last. At the time, I was more interested in her than in the bible or the study! I collect KJB's at swaps, flea markets, etc. and then give them away - scores of them. Just keep on cycling them to those who express interest. My three home birthed and home schooled daughters were also raised on the KJB - their first book - and they are light years ahead of their peers. The KJB is an amazing tool for cognitive learning. My personal plumbline is that I don't read any Bible that is copyrighted i.e. owned by men. I have a few that are pre-1900; I keep them here and there (car and home and bug out bag) for easy access.

I didn't read [the KJV Bible] much, but when I did, I didn't understand it. But when I came to Christ, it was illuminated to me. I've never had a problem understanding it after I was saved.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. :D

Four of my children were home birthed and we homeschooled for several years as well ...mostly homeschool and a parochial school. My children were raised with the KJV Bible as well. (I'm guessing that is what you mean by "KJB" ...or is there a difference?)

Well, we have another common interest re: family!

The actual title of God's word is the Holy Bible, not the KJV (King James Version) or even the KJB (King James Bible). Jealous new version 'editors' sought to "rename" it centuries ago, a marketing ploy which has worked in their favor ever since.

I don't really remember what type it was, it was a New Testament one though. It was given to me from a local church, which was given to my mother. The first bible I ever did see was my mothers, and I figured "Matthew" was where she must have gotten the idea to give me the name Matthew. I just bought a new bible which will be here next week. It was an bible I had gotten rid of, glad to be able to get a new one. It's a NASB2020 Cross-Reference Indexed. NASB 2020 Large-Print Personal-Size Reference Bible--soft leather-look, teal (indexed)

I was 6 when my family gave me a small white leather bound KJV.
I still have it. My family and me too, love the language style.

I have so many Bibles now. All passed down from the different generations of the family.
Great grands, paternal grands, mom, dad. They're all KJV.

I have a copy of The Book (Bible) NLT version, too. It's a good read.
