I think a lot of people fail to realize that the Lord's commandments are meant to bring us happiness in this lifetime - we don't have to wait.

Happiness cannot be obtained through following rules, but contentment can be gained.I think a lot of people fail to realize that the Lord's commandments are meant to bring us happiness in this lifetime - we don't have to wait.
Happiness is attained, I believe, by staying out of trouble.Happiness cannot be obtained through following rules, but contentment can be gained.
In that despite one's life being in chaos, one can know that the right things have been done and one can rest in the assurance from God.
One might not be happy, but can be content.
It depends on which commandments you are talking about.I think a lot of people fail to realize that the Lord's commandments are meant to bring us happiness in this lifetime - we don't have to wait.

You probably think that the Kingdom of God is just a state of mind.I think a lot of people fail to realize that the Lord's commandments are meant to bring us happiness in this lifetime - we don't have to wait.
Well, yes, there is confusion about what constitutes a commandment. Not everything the Lord said would qualify as a commandment, I don't think. There are ordinances, decrees, statutes, and the like. Jesus refers to several commandments, so I think it's safe to concentrate on the Ten Commandments and the two great commandments. Jeremiah 31:33 sort of explains it, I think. It depends on which commandments you are talking about.
If you are talking about teh ten written in stone?
2 Corinthians 3:7
But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
I believe the Lord's commandments will keep us out of serious trouble.Certainly that is my experience with the Mrs!
Troublecan arrive in spadeloads and sometimes all one can do is cling on to the threads of one faith.
Happiness depends on contentment, we need Paul's contentment.
What good is heaven is we don't have peace of mind? You probably think that the Kingdom of God is just a state of mind.
What God promises goes beyond our thoughts and involves a change in the real conditions around us: sickness and death will disappear from among mankind (Rev. 21:3,4).
I don't believe that no matter how hard one tries, one can be completely happy in a world where the innocent suffer and even the righteous get sick and die. Furthermore, Jesus made it clear that in this world, as long as the Kingdom of God is not completely established in a palpable way, things like the following will still be happening:
John 12:8 ... you always have the poor with you ...
Rev. 2:10 Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. Look! The Devil will keep on throwing some of you into prison so that you may be fully put to the test, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Prove yourself faithful even to death, and I will give you the crown of life.
I am very glad that you feel peace of mind. What good is heaven is we don't have peace of mind?
How do we achieve peace of mind? Here's how: Matthew 4:17
I wish it were that easy.I am very glad that you feel peace of mind.
I have peace of mind too.
This is a very important point, especially in our day.....Paul said we should ‘be content with the present things’, yet the world promotes discontent and a striving after the newest and latest gadgets of distraction.Happiness depends on contentment, we need Paul's contentment.
Well as the ten written in stone minister death, I do not think we should focus on those at all.Well, yes, there is confusion about what constitutes a commandment. I think Jeremiah 31:33 sheds some light on this. In my walk with the Lord, he has brought a few basic things to my attention. The twelve commandments I mentioned pretty much cover it.Well as the ten written in stone minister death, I do not think we should focus on those at all.
9of the 10 are carried over. Ordinances, decrees statutes and the like are all commands. Just with a different name.
I can see that point you making, because.....This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success". (Joshua 1:8) "Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read". (Isaiah 34:16)I think a lot of people fail to realize that the Lord's commandments are meant to bring us happiness in this lifetime - we don't have to wait.
The Psalmist agrees with you ...I think a lot of people fail to realize that the Lord's commandments are meant to bring us happiness in this lifetime - we don't have to wait.
Death only to those who disobey them.Well as the ten written in stone minister death, I do not think we should focus on those at all
Do you realize that this is the terminal generation?I think a lot of people fail to realize that the Lord's commandments are meant to bring us happiness in this lifetime - we don't have to wait.
The wages of sin is death, and sin is the transgression of the law. It's only sinners who are subject to the curse of the law, and die. Those born again who are forgiven, who live according to the Spirit and obey the commandments by the power of God and trust in Christ as their substitute as the Lamb of God, and in whom the righteousness of the law is fulfilled, (Romans 8:5) are resurrected and live forever.Well as the ten written in stone minister death, I do not think we should focus on those at all.
