I’m on the opposite end. As someone who focused on evolutionary ecology to help develop stronger habitat systems to help combat biodiversity loss in this decaying of the environment and fragmentation of the wilderness I work on how to better save them. Me and a handful of others recently won a vote against the city im in being able to cut down a forest around a river in order to wider it by 3x and deepen it by almost 10x. Now they can’t and endangered mollusks were discovered in it.

What I’m mostly into is botany intersecting with ecology though . Protecting a space saves more than a single species .
I'm all for saving habitats for wildlife and such ....minus the evolution aspect, which I do not ascribe to. I'm glad y'all were able to stop the widening of the river and prevent taking down trees unnecessarily. God gave us dominion and we should care for the things He cares about.

I think they could use your input on the issue of the plans to flood thousands of acres in northern Texas and forcing people off their lands (not to mention the devastation to lands and wildlife).

@Angelina What am I doing right now?
Multitasking (which I most often do) ....
I just got done watching a YT video about the Kennedy assassination occult ritual, and just started watching an old 1953 B&W spy movie. Meanwhile, doing laundry, and planning (in my head) what I need to get done tomorrow to prepare for 2+weeks in the deep freeze (weather/temps) ....what to do for my animals, etc.

Most are not. Many don’t really understand environmentalism and are afraid of insects. They don’t understand ecology. It’s especially dominating in certain places like southeastern USA.
Maybe not because quite a few people regard the environmental movement as a sort of cult.

And I am not afraid of all bugs but I definately do not want to cuddle one whenever I see one.

One of the strongest ways is to simply protest and show up to city councils. Getting petitions going. Even 100 people in a town can completely change the outcome of voting. Getting just 1-2 local scientists funding for a few weeks of working on developing a plan to protect an area can be all the difference.
A great book on this is “ Southern Rivers” by R Scot Duncan.

I mean if you want to call people a cult for wanting to help protect the earth from being destroyed, and help create wild spaces for future generations and being concerned about the wellbeing of those citizens of third world nations who will be more heavily impacted then I guess you can.

But we as Christians should be at the front of it instead of behind it pushing it towards its death. Jesus will definitely be looking at the hearts of those who hates his creation and does not care for the meek being harmed.

It’s why I also handle bugs at classrooms. Many kids grow up terrified of bugs because of their parents who are also terrified of bugs. So these scared kids grow up into sacred adults who want to destroy them because they don’t understand them and they lack the the desire to care for creation because they belong to the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy.

I have a profound respect for earthworms and beneficial insects, especially. But I know there's a balance. I have an abundance of earthworms in my soils throughout my yard.

My responses was towards those who despise creation and want to instead saturate the world with pesticides, keep wildflowers cut down to have just turf grass and so on. Kill just for the sake of killing because they don’t like creation. They kill just to kill because of fear and hatred.

Not towards people gardening, adding native plants to their yard, creating king habitats and feeding wildlife to other forms of wildlife, even if they are domesticated.

I’m not even talking about hunters to hunt to kill just because they like eating corpses. But the ones who just spray chemicals killing millions of insects in their lawns, which then gets eaten by birds and birds develop neurological disorders and other diseases and so on. Some just like to kill like Satan does for the fun of it.

There's a lot of money behind it and it's been in the works for decades. Now, it's coming down to the wire. They are wanting to build yet another lake and it's completely unnecessary. The money is in selling lakefront property to greedy people after they've forced farmers out ...people who have lived there their entire lives.

I pick those green tomato horn worms off my tomatoes when we get those. The other year I had not even one, it was like a miracle befell us from on high. How could you not see one single tomato horn worm on any of your 40 tomato plants? It was an unheard of year.

I do recall getting this huge spider in this enclosed porched area we had, it so huge I thought it was a mouse but it was really a spider (or what turned out to be a pregnant spider which is why it was so fat). When my husband got up and hit it wth a shoe it gave birth right on the spot, and like hundreds of spiders poured out of itself.

I nearly lost my mind clfh

Looked like this

Now I’m listening to a horror story by Creepy while cleaning and cooking. Excited that Terrifier 3 is now out for digital purchase. Will definitely be watching that this Saturday with my fiancee. Always saw it in theaters but watching it again.

It’s always very unfortunate. One aspect of environmentalism is called Social Justice Environmentalism and it’s focused on how the rich and apathetic masses constantly contribute to the destruction of the marginalized. For example lots of lakes in America use to be black neighborhoods.

Healthy soil, sister. There was something right about your soil biology that year. Insects won't attack healthy plants. I have some theories on this I'm working on.

You may have read that I have been on a carnivore diet for a hear and a half. I did keto, heavy on salads, for 6+ years until my digestive system shut down. I had to drop nearly all plant products from my diet. Due to the extremely high amounts of oxalates in my diet before, my body began to dump all those oxalates after I went carnivore. (long story) High levels of oxalates are detrimental to one's health, and even deadly.

Anyway, plants produce oxalates to fend off pests. But plants grown in healthy soils with the right microbiology do not see nearly as much pest pressure, eliminating the needs for chemical pesticides and such. It's just better all the way around. Do you see where I'm going with this? My theory is ....perhaps plants grown in healthy soils have less need for producing oxalates. Maybe after 2, 3, 5, 10 years of growing in healthy soils, those plants will produce less and less oxalates. (Thinking, seed harvesting from your own garden and building a hardy line.)

Ya think?

I certainly dont think anyone should harm the earth, as far as the more cultic arm of it (as some believe it to be) of special interests which often cloak themselves under a "good cause" they can be far more zealous for certain causes (at certain times) over others (for whatever reason). So I dont always buy into something being a good cause. Regardless, I wouldnt take it up as my focus, cause or first priority. If everyone just did their own part not to do harm thats what should be expected without having to be consumed by it.

I do agree, this past year I thought all that was done (and just plain luck) when I got these other green caterpillars called parsley worms, like 50 per plant, eating my parsley. When I looked those up its turns out that their predators do not like some sort of thing found in parsley and so it protects these caterpillars from them. Turns out these turn into black swallowtail butterflys which are great pollinators.

And here I am plucking them off and relocating them (Go away future pollinators!) clfh

I had no clue.

I did both keto and carnivore myself, I am not on either right now. I try to be careful but its not working lol

I have been learning Linux Ubuntu, and my command lines for it so I won't have to leave the internet in October because of Microsoft forcing Windows OS users to have Microsoft accounts.

That really bugs me like no other thing for whatever reason, so much so I have been spending hours learning the commands to the terminal (which to me is really intimidating).

Nothing exciting over here, its truly uninspiring stuff.

Microsoft forcing Windows OS users to have Microsoft accounts.
Is that set in stone? Are they really going to do that?

Ubuntu has been on my radar, but looks intimidating and not sure I can run a lot of my software on it.
