We had a pledge of allegiance here in the USA that was important in teaching to children. We would all stand up and hold our right arms over our hearts and recite the Pledge of Allegiance with the teachers conducting and leading us in the Pledge:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." The Pledge of Allegiance
Regarding current or recent issues about that important citizen pledge:
Maryland elementary school faces backlash over Pledge of Allegiance, 'mandatory patriotism'
From the story:
"One Maryland public school was coerced into no longer requiring students and staff to recite the Pledge of Allegiance after a free speech group pushed back against what it called "mandatory patriotism.""
Along that issue is legal immigration among the illegal entry into the United States. I had thought that people that were not citizens of the USA had to apply to become citizens and upon entry use the following as direction:
“I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America ..." Chapter 2 - The Oath of Allegiance

From that story:
"Forty-seven states in the U.S. require the Pledge of Allegiance be recited in public schools, with varying exemptions for students or staff who wish to opt out. The 1943 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, West Virginia V. Barnette, determined that no school or government can compel someone to recite the Pledge of Allegiance or salute the flag."
This appears to be an important and sensitive issue related to the fabric of the Constitution of the United States.
