Not for me it isn't, this whole its "like riding a bike, you just never forget it". Well, I totally forgot and back in my Millitary days I could dissssemble my M16 and put it back together well within the time required and could shoot that thing and my 38 but none of that really come back to me.

A few years ago my husband bought an AR15, a shot gun and 9Mil and some other, and tried that shot gun and couldnt hear for a week and that thing almost dislocated my shoulder (How wimpy I am?). Not only that, although I never trained on a 9MIl but on a 38 (which should be no big deal I thought) well, I did not have enough strength in my hands to either disable the safety or slide the top back on it (My husband laughs at me ) I feel pretty pathetic right now. I need to figure out how to fake it because I obviously cannot count on my strength or memory of old skills

Yeah I know they are data mining on forums and elsewhere, I have said so much before, but why do you say that because I shared I was in the millitary or that I can't shoot to save my life now?

Shooting good is not like riding a bike for most people. It's not something that you remember instinctively. You have to practice to stay good.

What that man meant was, close enough for government work (Lol) so he went back home feeling good at his group at 50 yards.
Now don't no one attack me for this I'm being somewhat facetious but...I took what he said as code talk for he got a 6" grouping at 50 yards, which wont win any championships but it'll get you our of trouble with a man that you engage.

But I'd bet money that it wasnt no 2" group that he shot. 6" at 50 yards. works for war, so perhaps he was smart to save his ammo at this point? But I'd sure be starting to buy more ammo (or load it) before springtime and continuing to shoot some this summer. When that guy offered that he should get a membership at the range, that was prolly code talk for (having seen his grouping) thought, not bad but I see room for some improvement.

I didn't start getting better than mediocre in shooting until I started paying mor e attention to my trigger pulls. I discovered that 80% of marksmanship was trigger control for both handguns and rifles. The biggest two mistakes that I or others I seen shoot made were jerking the trigger (which pulls the shot off bullseye) and closing their eyes at the moment the shot breaks (which can mean the shot goes anywhere). Now we all know the gun goes bang, but it doesn't hurt you! You live right thru it. So try this next time you go shooting...

Force yourself to look thru the shot...you have to be able to continue to see the front sight after the shot goes bang. When you do this, suddenly you can call your shots. When the shot goes bang, ask yourself, where was the front sight when it went bang? Now you will know either where it was, or that you don't know where it was meaning, you shut your vision off in anticipation of the shot.
Not jerking the trigger is easy to get over. Don't pull the trigger. Press the trigger. Straight back. Pay attention to how much trigger finger that you used. Did you use the pad of your finger? the knuckle? Too much or too little trigger finger will pull the shot off target either right or left.

When I learned those things, I starting getting better. A LOT better. After that I began wondering what all the fuss was about match grade high dollar triggers that people used and talked about and so I bought one. Then two! Then 3! Oh my gosh, what a wonderful thing a match trigger is on a weapon! Most factory triggers are set up for imbeciles, lol.

Don't buy a match trigger until you can call your shots all the time.

Good answer! The Lord is my Primary weapon.
The Lord told me one time that the super preppers will be in no way better prepared than the Lord's people who are orepared in Christ. They will have teams looking for them, doing sweeps, with equipment...and will walk up to within feet of them and they will not see them sitting there. (prolly hunkered down trembling!).
It's going to be just like in scripture. A thousand will die at my left and 10,000 on my right side, but it wil not come near me! We either Believe that or we don't. I believe it.
I'm not going to be the guy on judgment day who is standing before Jesus and He says, I gave you the truth plain as day, why did ye not Believe it? (Well you see Lord I watched some video that said they got all the translations wrong so the word was unreliable...!!!). You see, people who do not believe it wind up not cultivating a relationship with the Lord and so consequently will not be under the Lord's protection.

Take David and Goliath for instance. Was that not a miracle of God? Does anyone really believe that God was not guiding that rock to the proper place after David launched it? Oh, David might have been good alright, but that was a perfect shot.
One of the morals of that bible story is that, David still had to walk out onto that field and launch that rock, so we might have to too.

Hopefully we get Raptured out before that happens. But we don't know. It still might get worse for us in the meantime and so we have a duty to be ready to meet (The Lord's) challenges which will include helping to protect our neighbors in love in Christ.

An AR15 is the best thing going right now for war. A shotgun for inside the home is devastating, but if I had to step outside, give me a rifle! Not enough range or capacity.

I never did buy a 9mm. I was always a 45 man. I now that 9 mil ammo is cheap and plentiful, but the cartridge is woefully underpowered! To get decent 9 mil ammo you have to buy the specialized expensive rounds for way too much. Most people think that firearms are some sort of magical talisman or something. It aint like that in the real world. If you have people attacking your home, then someone will be behind the cover of an automobile. If he's on the far side of the car, you can't shoot him with a 9 mil. It wont punch thru both sides. Neither will a 45 auto! A 44 mag will! A 308 will! You can make his life a living hell with 223's, lol. You might or might not get him but he'll know your trying!

Just because the military uses 9 mil is what is makes it so popular. But the military has a team behind each man, you don't!
And all those short barreled 223s the military uses isn't the right rifle for civilians! I recommend the 20" barrel 223 AR15 for civilians because of the cartridge. A 223 is a small light bullet and loses a lot of velocity in short barreled rifles like military uses but again, they can get away with it because they come with a team. A 20" barrel model will give you more velocity and effectiveness of hits on targets.

What barrel length is your husbands AR15? He may be military but will he have a team when he has trouble at home? Doubtful, so even being military he needs a 20" at home.
You are his team, Sister! Could you back him up effectively?
