When i was a kid, my Bible had where Jesus spoke written in red. Because of that I always gave more weight to verses where it’s Jesus speaking. Is that wrong?

No it's not wrong but you should at the same time understand that Jesus wrote the Bible. He is the Author of all of it.

So those verses which Jesus authored should also be given more weight.

His words hold more weight for me also, so I think it is a good way to be.

Red Letter Christians are not in error, but they may not fully comprehend all that there is to know.

That's interesting because that may have happen to other Children as well. It's not wrong, it's just not the order in learning the word of God. Paul says in 2 Timothy 3: 15 and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Then again in Paul times there was no new testament, just the scriptures Genesis to Malachi.

The way I look at it is that Jesus was always right. I would say the same thing about God, when he is quoted in the Bible.

In fact, I believe that the Word of God consists of those instances where God and Jesus are quoted in the Bible.

Jesus said that the words He spoke were the words of His father. John 12:49

For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak.

Isaiah 61:1

"""" The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;"""

This is an OT verse. written ABOUT Jesus.... 700 yrs before Jesus was BORN..

And Jesus read this very verse, to the JEWs, that is about Himself, at the start of His ministry, and told them..

= "this day, you have heard this verse, and im the verse, im HERE, its ME".

Good morning Behold. I'd like to offer these passage using an interlinear bible and see if it makes things clearer regarding your quote:

Isaiah 60:16 - 61:6 You shall suck the milk of nations; you shall nurse at the breast of kings; and you shall know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

Instead of bronze I will bring gold, and instead of iron I will bring silver; instead of wood, bronze, instead of stones, iron. I will make your overseers peace and your taskmasters righteousness. Violence shall no more be heard in your land, devastation or destruction within your borders; you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.

The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but Yahweh will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for Yahweh will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended. Your people shall all be righteous; they shall possess the land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I might be glorified. The least one shall become a clan, and the smallest one a mighty nation; I am Yahweh; in its time I will hasten it.

61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of Yahweh’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, that he may be glorified.

They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations. Strangers shall stand and tend your flocks; foreigners shall be your plowmen and vinedressers; but you shall be called the priests of Yahweh; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast.

You posted a lot of symbolic verses....

The one that matters, that is related to the Ministry of Jesus, is Isa 61.1.

Its interesting that Jesus who inspired the Scriptures told them......

John 5:39 """"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of ME..."

So, apparently Jesus understood .....His own words.

No it's not wrong. It's all God's Word. Jesus is God.

I have no idea what you are calling symbolic verses. What I post is the direct translation of the verses before and after Isaiah 61:1. It was not about Jesus.

I have no idea what you are calling symbolic verses.

= involving the use of symbols or symbolism.

For example......a verse that talks about.. : "lukewarm and spit you out"

or.. "removing candlesticks "

or " 10 virgins"

or "the Broad way" or the "Narrow way" or the "Strait Gate".

or the "prodigal son"

or the "best robe" and the "ring"

or "oil" when its referring to the Spirit of God or the anointing of the Holy Spirit"

Or "true vine"

or "some seed fell on good ground"

or "men gathered them and they were burned"

These are all symbolic verses, and we should never try to teach them as LITERAL as when you do that, you create a pretext.

JW's etc LOVE accusing the Bible of being "symbolic" when they HATE what God said.
