Except you're both my brothers in Christ, so at least you have that in common.
Oh... I thought (assumed) it was brother and sister? Isn't Zoe a woman's name?
I'm never sure which one we are taking to.

If it is brothers, we may have other questions. WWJD?

I was assuming a husband-and-wife team, but from observing their posts for a while, I had concluded that Cady was the more verbal partner. But I could be wrong, in which case I should apologize to both Cady and Zoe. Our brother and sister in Christ.

Zoe is my wife. We have been married since 1976. We are a team, though I write all the posts.

Excerpt from the OP.

Exploring the many facets of the issues of doctrinal unity and individuality.
Issues range from the dictates of religious institutional tyranny on one extreme end of the spectrum,
to freewheeling excesses of biblical interpretation on the other extreme end.
Seeking balance somewhere in the middle.

The peace of Jesus is not recognised because it is not a reference point of familiarity, therefore the extremes, both in religion and the secular world exist.
Just as Jesus said to Peter 'flesh and blood have not revealed this to you but my Father in heaven...' So, those who know God's peace know it.....be they intellectually challenged or high on the IQ scale, be they male or female or ethnically different.

One might reply that "The Bible is the unquestionable authority in matters of faith and practice."
Unfortunately, there is no consensus on what the Bible says.

There are thousands of denominations. Rest assured that yours is the right one.

Issues range from the dictates of religious institutional tyranny on one extreme end of the spectrum,
to freewheeling excesses of biblical interpretation on the other extreme end.
Seeking balance somewhere in the middle.

Another issue that presents itself is:
The potential conceit of doctrinal individuality.

This is manifested in a person that thinks they ALONE have the correct biblical interpretation.
Since they believe that God has informed them, there can be no other answer. Right? (wrong)

Typical statements of biblical/doctrinal conceit:
- "Haven't you read the Bible?"
- "God told me..."
- "Who should I believe; you, or God?"
- "God's Word disagrees with you."

Such statements are usually used to win a debate.
Playing "the God card" to end the discussion.

This same conceit plays out in the defense of denominational beliefs as well.
The use of a religious organization as an unquestionable authority in matters of faith and practice.

And one might reply that "The Bible is the unquestionable authority in matters of faith and practice."
Unfortunately, there is no consensus on what the Bible says. What to do, what to do... ???

The Bible is a VERY clear roadmap to God's Kingdom and avoiding burning in Hell FOREVER! MANY who don't like what the Bible clearly says are heading for Hell Fire.

You are the best promoter of your version of hell fire that I know of Jack. Is it because you believe you are going there?

Looks like I said something you didn't like. How about this?

Matthew 25:32-41
32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

The exact same eternal fate as Satan's!

It looks like this to you because your vision is in need of eye salve.
My vision is on the Word of God, the Christian Bible!

God is gonna clean His House. It's a MESS!

1 Peter 4:17
17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God;

It's gonna get UGLY and bloody!

Your vision Jack, is on horror.
Horror is putting it mildly!

Matthew 24:21-22
21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved;

2 Timothy 3:1
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:

Revelation 9:15
15 So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

It is clear to any discerning mind Jack, that your emphasis is promoting horror.....and you use the scripture to justify it.
