GEN2REV said:... (the Holy Spirit) lived a physical life of perfection, without a single sin from physical birth to physical death. When Jesus died upon the Cross, His Spirit of sinless perfection was sealed forevermore. "It is finished!!"
This is an absolutely outrageous blasphemy against Christ and His accomplishments in the body. If it were true, He wouldn't have been qualified to be our High Priest. The ignorance of scripture among those on Christians Forums that rail against Truth is mind blowing. That is because Jesus was conceived with the seed of the Father, so He lived his whole life free from sinful desires.
"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."
Hebrews 4:15
GEN2REV said:Now, He could send His perfected Spirit into any and all believers for the purpose of enabling/empowering them to overcome sin. What is sin? It is the breaking of the Commandments, the Law. 1 John 3:4
Wrong. Sin is still a factor today, as all Christians know that we can still sin. Therefore the Holy Spirit's purpose, among others, is to equip us with the power and wherewithal to put all sin away. Not to overcome sin, but to have no sin.
Wrong.1stCenturyLady" said:We are to keep the commandments of JESUS, like Jesus kept perfectly the commandments of His own Father. We are to follow Jesus and His New Covenant, like Jesus kept the commandments of the Old Covenant that He lived His life under until "It is finished."
I've already proven Jesus Commandments are the Father's Commandments.
John 1:1 Jesus is God and was present at Creation as well as Mt. Sinai where the 10 Commandments were given. Jesus lived His life as a perfect example of how God expects man to live.
1 John 2:6 We are to live as Jesus lived.
And as for you, 1CL, and all the rest who are dashing God's Commandments, you do not know Jesus Christ. If you did, you would defend His righteous Commandments.
"... sin not. And if any man sin (because sin is obviously still possible), we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ... And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His Commandments. He/she that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His Commandments, is a liar, and the Truth (Jesus Christ) is not in them."
