I don't think any charges should be filed if he was defending his daughter. It's a father's duty to protect his family. As to whether he lost control and beat the man to death out of anger, that is the risk that criminals take when they engage in such activities.

I don't believe he should be punished, for he got real justice for his daughter. Even if they could have been caught and convicted, they would be out in a few years and raping someone else--maybe killing so as not to leave a witness. In my opinion, the only real justice for rapists, pedophiles, and murders is death. Let them wake up in hell where true justice is for such lowlifes.
Are we exhibiting the wrong Christian response to rapists and child molesters ? Are we being too harsh on them in light of scripture ? Are'nt we supposed to be forgiving ? Well being a survivor of abuse myself, I know first hand how hideous the effects of being violated can be and if anything, I think society has been way too soft on these types of criminals and thats why there are so many repeat offenders.
Scripture says something about putting a mill stone around their neck and tossing them into the Sea,so no i don't think we are being too harsh,this society is not too harsh on anyone except those trying to do the right thing.
I believe in forgiveness. The father should have forgiven the 'offender' in much the same way we now have to forgive this murderer.

I'll try to keep this short. but to begin... The Bible Jesus (fully man and fully God) taught from is, in the Christian rendition of the Holy Scriptures, teaches that we should follow the perfect will of God and execute these types. (Due. 22:25-27) It is imperative to remember Mal. 3:6a, God never changes! If we take the time to read the Bible instead of just allowing others to preach at us from it, the entire Bible is full of the love of God, even in His holy wrath.
And then there is the statement of Jesus in Matthew 5:17-20 that, so oft is broken apart and mistaught. Since, asw we see from the Matthew passage, the Mosaic Law is important to us, we must, as followers of the Christ, learn to submit and obey, it is important to remember tnat when we come upon someone rapping our five year old daughter, it is incumbent that we protect them.
Not really justifiable homocide, since the father was exhibiting self-defense in behalf of his daughter. Homicide is pre-meditated murder, like you've had time to think about it and plan a killing.
Even in situations per God's law where two men broke out in a fight and one was accidently killed in the argument it was called 'manslaughter', with certain cities designated where the one who killed was to flee, where the victim's family was not allowed to seek revenge. The line has been confused today with calling manslaughter a lower degree murder.

Can you post a link to the news item so that we may read the particulars of the case? I recently read were a fifteen year old "girl" was caught in bed with her "seventeen year old " boy friend. The father beat him to death. This was in Texas also, is this the case you are referring to?

Do we forgive the unrepentent? Isn't forgiving those who don't seek forgiveness the same as condoning what they do? God can and will forgive any who seek His forgiveness in shame and repentence, but an unrepentent soul does not receive God's forgiveness.
The father who killed his daughter's attacker doesn't need forgiveness for doing what any loving fatrher would do--defend his loved ones at any cost.

I am referring to the Texas father who caught a man molesting his daughter and killed him. I was'nt able to post the link here, but it's easy to find on the web...just put in " Texas father caught man molesting his daughter "
According to the news stories I've read, it wasn't the father's intention to kill him. He caught him and started to beat him up. One of the blows was fatal. The father has said that it wasn't his intention to kill the man. But no, I do not think the father should face any charges, and it doesn't look like he will.
