There's no misunderstanding. Lying is in violation of the 10 Commandments. Lying is sin with no doubt.

But is there diffent levels of sin? Are some sins worse than others? Of course there are differing levels to severity of sin. There's an entire study along with that but it is backed up by scripture. There are sins, transgressions, iniquities, blasphemies and....uncleanness(?).

I think that's also why different punishments are described in scripture. You have the Lake of Fire and you have Outer Darkness and per others also but it seems clear that sins can be more or less severe depending on the sin.

Lying is across the board, so it depends on the outcome of the lie and the intention that went into it to determine how severe it was. Ex., One lie will get you a free pack of gum at the store, whereas another lie may get someone killed and that would obviously be worse.

What does it mean? You can’t have it both ways.

It means that often the deeds of the wicked , due to the fact they seem to prosper in this world, they think , GOD approve of it
and that they will not be held accountable .But woe wail they WILL BE HELD accountable .
LEST of course the do repent and believe on JESUS the CHRIST and learn to do well and good .
Just because a sentence is not delivered speedily , DONT MEAN it wont be .
There for it is now in the hearts of men to do much much evil . As they mock and say
THERE wont be no judgment , you crazy christains have been saying this for years .
OH , but i tell us all wrangler , THAT DAY and HOUR IS fast approaching . The JUDGMENT of GOD
will come , the day of HIS WRATH will burn against the ungodly , who THOUGH HE HAD CALLED THEM by the gospel ,
THEY REJECTED . And rather formed another god that pleases their own lustful hearts desire and accepted their evil . . that god , it wont save .
