why are you quoting a verse that is written to the Church at Galatia

Because it’s relevant and shines light on error.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Your growth in the faith has been hindered by leaven.

Im here teaching about the Cross and the Eternal life that is provided and secured by Christ's CROSS, , that has been given as "the Gift of Salvation" to all who are born again, , and you, Michiah0Imia, are here talking about self effort to stay saved., along with a few others who have no idea what it means to be born again.
Think on that.

What the Bible says about Diotrephes
(From Forerunner Commentary)

Psalm 75:7-10

The righteous do not exalt themselves. God will promote them; He will exalt them when it is the proper time. In the meantime, it is best for all of us to be content with where He has put us. We do not need to go to the lengths of Korah or Diotrephes to be presumptuous—we can be presumptuous anytime we take something upon ourselves that has not been given to us to do, thinking that we know better. Such a thing is just plain pride.

The cure for presumptuous behavior is realizing what God has given us, where He has placed us, and what is best for us at the time. If we work within the parameters He has set for us, we will grow, and we will perform the task He has asked us to do.

3 John 1:9-11

Who is this Diotrephes? Perhaps a better question is, "Who does this Diotrephes think he is?" Was he an apostle? Was he an evangelist? Was he a pastor? Was he a leading man in the congregation? Was he an "ordinary" member? John does not say, but it is interesting that John mentions that Diotrephes just loved to have the preeminence among them. It almost sounds as if he was only a member of the church or perhaps an elder. We do not know.

One of his most marked characteristics is he liked to be "Number One." He had to be the important guy, the one everybody came to for answers to their questions, the one to make the big decisions. He even went so far as to say malicious things against John - one of the original twelve apostles. He prated against him with malicious words. He spoke down on him.

John was the disciple that Jesus loved, and here some little man, probably in the church at Ephesus, was talking against the apostle who had put his life on the line for the church many times, who had spent years in exile on the Isle of Patmos, who (tradition says) was put in a vat of boiling oil and was not harmed a bit, a man whom God was obviously with - and this Diotrephes thought he was so important that he could point out John's flaws to the rest of the congregation.

Then he started disfellowshipping people because they did not agree with him. He kicked people out of the church who wanted to fellowship with their brethren whom he had put out. John promised, "When I get there, I'm going to take care of this. I will call to mind all these things and make what this man is apparent."

Given the way he treated the congregation, Diotrephes was a "Satan in the flesh." What he did was evil, which is what John writes in verse 11: "Beloved, do not imitate what is evil." He is warning, "Do not imitate the actions of this man, Diotrephes. He is doing exactly what Satan did."

Think on that.

You have no scriptural backing for your heresy which is why you haven’t rebutted my post with scripture.

If anything you scorn that I used scripture from Galatians.

Heretics, wherever they are found... should be taken seriously as being deceived by the Devil.

Spotting them is very easy.
As.....Every Heretic will believe that they can lose their salvation, as that is THE deception that is found in them all.
Some have really crazy Theology, but, the one common denominator is that they do not believe that Jesus or God = keeps them saved.

So, reader, when you dont believe that Jesus keeps you saved, HIMSELF< or GOD, HIMSELF< then what is left for you to believe that gets you into heaven?
What is it?

THINK !!!!!

Its YOURSELF.....trying to do something.... And that can be..."im holding unto my faith".. or "im keeping commandments", or
"I joined the one true Church".... Or..."im enduring to the end". "My salvation is all about ME ME ME ME doing something, vs, only trusting in Christ to get me to heaven" = which is the REAL FAITH.

See all that? ??
That is YOU Trusting YOU....as you dont TRUST CHRIST or God To get you into heaven, if you are a heretic.
What does that literally mean?
It means your faith is wrong, or broken. And Paul says you are "fallen from GRACE"<... "bewitched"...and "In the Flesh".
It means that Jesus is off the Cross, and YOU are up there on it, as your FAITH.

So, what is the worst thing about heretics as found on a Forum?
Its the fact that they can ruin your faith for life, and most especially the faith of a New Christian.
"christian" forums are deadly regarding a New Believer's Faith.
And that, is the one thing that the Devil wants..
He wants a new Christian to be FAITH DESTROYED, and then their entire life is nothing but nothing for God.

See, if you have a head full of theology and can teach it, then that is actually harmful unless what you teach is based on your correct understanding of the Grace of God as the BLOOD ATONEMENT, that is the foundation of your FAITH.
And when you are trying to keep yourself SAVED, and trying not to go to hell, then that is THE proof that you have no real faith in Christ.
Its gone, or was never there to begin with.

explain
Hebrews 12:4
Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

John 3:16 redux. I thought it would be fitting to do a study of arguably the most popular verse in scripture and the most least understood. It have caused many to stray off the path to deception concerning the rescue mission of the Father.

Vere 16 – For God ‘so’ loved ‘the world’…that 'whosoever'......

upload_2022-6-15_11-2-19.png

In Greek: houtous gar egapesen ho Theos ton kosmon, hoste ton Huion ton monogene edoken, hina pas ho pisteuon eis auton me apoletai all eche zoen aionion.

English translation: Thus for loved God the world that the Son the only begotten He gave so that everyone believing in Him not should perish but should have life eternal.

As a modern easier read: Thus God loved (a sacrificial love) the world by creating and bore his own son and then offering him up as the sacrifice for all sinful human life, and specifically for those who kept believing in faith that they were healed by his sacrifice, and that they should become sinless with eternal life. His love was for the those who believed in his son’s sacrifice of our fallen state of the first death and where there is no second death of condemnation and destruction.

The verse begins with the words ‘hootous/ houtous gar’ meaning in English, ‘so for’ or ‘thus’ and not just ‘for.’ These words signify that a previous argument or discussion just transpired, and that the current statement is its conclusion or a type of summary statement.

Next, the Greek word in this context ‘kosmos’ means those people over time, since when Christ spoke these words, those who are drawn from the world in each generation of people, and not to mean everyone or all humans since the creation of Adam.

The world in verse 16 means only all the remnants of the saved world of people in each generation of the Hebrews and Israelites, and in addition to those since Christ, all saved remnants in each generation and even today. God does not love the whole world as many think or want to believe. He has already condemned most to the 2nd death because of their unbelief based on his foreknowledge of all generations of mankind. God does not need mankind, mankind needs him. The act and process of salvation is in the hands of God’s will and not in the hands of human will. We come to Christ and his Father because the Father already prepared our hearts to accept him and we use our will to acknowledge his presence and his purpose freely. It was and is an irresistible decision by human will to cement the bond and unite us with God through his grace, his gift, the bridging faith that we ourselves do not possess. Our own attempt at a saving faith means nothing to God. He reached out to us in love as we in return display it in return. It's a love affair truly made in heaven.

Next, the common translation of the Greek word ‘pas ho pisteuoon‘ into the English word ‘whosoever believes’ is not accurate and is a very misleading translation. There is no Greek term equivalent to this compound word ‘whosoever.’ ‘Pas ho pisteuoon’ means in English ‘all the in faith, or ‘all those in faith.’ Or ‘all the faithful.’ All the believing.’ It represents a particular group of people who possess faith or who are believing in him and his son yesterday, today and will be in faith tomorrow. These are the people of the world who God chose and loves out of the world. They are the only ones who shall have eternal life.

The misleading word ‘whosoever’ gives the impression that anyone, from anywhere at any time can attain salvation just be saying the magic words found in the gospel. Not true. No one can initiate the process using their carnally conceived faith to salvation, except God.

Incidentally, the words in the verse ‘should not perish, but’ were added into scripture and not part of the original text. Most probably it was a note written down on the side when translating, and incorporated into the verse.

So the last part of the verse should read like, ‘that all the believing in him should have eternal life.’

True believers do not earn eternal life through their so-called free will and their own faith to decide to become saved and give themselves their corrupted faith to truly believe and seal themselves in the Holy Spirit. No, they believe because they are ordained or appointed by God and because of his actions. Act 13:48 ties directly with the context of John 3:16.

(Act 13:48) And when the nations heard this, they were glad and praised the Word of יהוה. And as many as had been appointed (elected) to everlasting life believed.

In John 3, verses 14 and 15, Jesus was speaking with Nicodemus about those in the old world (the Israelites only) in the desert of the Exodus from Egypt. And those that believed in the serpent on the pole were physically healed after being snake bitten, and those in unbelief physically died and in their sins. The Father’s son, Jesus, was the final instrument and fulfillment of faith given to us for a healed life, so that now all people of the new world (of all nations and races) who kept believing that he would heal them, the Father gives them eternal life.

Blessings to all.

The most convincing part of your post was the above quote. Not so much the long drawn out dissertation on translation.

But @APAK , though you are correct, you still have no knowledge of who is predestined to salvation or predestined to the lake of fire.

Even when Christ declared to his disciples that one of them would betray him, they all questioned among themselves who the traitor should be; none said “it’s not me, I’m predestined to be faithful” (Matthew 26).

Fair enough and I believe we are not designed to know these things. I'm just loving the moment and presence I have in the Spirit of God today, becoming and knowing more about the ways of our Creator in my life. Bless you for your candid words Michiah-Imla.

Nonsense!

“For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:27-28)

You therefore do greatly err!
First you quote a verse from the early path of the Hebrews, then you quote a later verse on the path preached to the gentiles that speaks of the end goal...without "rightly dividing" them.

That is like giving someone directions to the market in New York, to someone needing to go to the market in San Francisco. The instructions to the one do not rightly apply to the other.

The writer of Hebrews has put on Christ. He is neither Jew nor Greek.

Don’t let the perverted doctrines of Dispensational Theology trip you up. Your eternal destiny depends on it!

The point is the writer was writing to Hebrews who had not all put on Christ, and therefore the words must be rightly divided from those written to those who have put on Christ.

The error is not rightly dividing what is written to each different group.

Did you see me say that we should practice sin after we come to faith in Christ? No, you did not. If we love Him, we will keep His commandments. But our works will never be enough to save us. Salvation is in Christ alone!
@TLHKAJ 1 John indeed tells us that "we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous".....

Works alone I agree!

but we don’t practice works alone!

but faith and works thru grace in Christ!

We are members of Christ in his grace and filled with his spirit!

All our actions are meritorious

1 Corinthians 12:26
And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

1 Peter 4:13
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Religion is what man owes to God for having created him in His image and likeness!

To Christ for having redeemed him in His own blood!

to the Holy Spirit for sanctifying him in the sacraments of holy mother church!

it only Christ by His grace (merits of His blood passion and death) that we are enabled and empowered to actually be holy and righteous and all our actions

if we live by the spirit we put to death the deeds of the flesh

my grace is sufficient for you

Phil 4:13 I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me.

Jn 15:5 apart from me you can do nothing!

our participation is required

Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (his grace and virtues work in us healing our defective nature and enabling us to be righteous and holy accomplishing his holy will!
Ez 36:25-27

Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Romans 8:17
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together

2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Phil 1:29
For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

Colossians 1:24
Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind (lacking) of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:

Titus 2:14
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, (redemption) and purify unto himself a peculiar people, (justification / baptism notice purify / wash) zealous of good works. (Sanctification)

Charity

Deut. 6:5
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

1 Corinthians 16:22
If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema.

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

John 14:28
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

1 cor 13:2 all faith without charity avails nothing.

1 cor 13:12 now abide faith, hope, and charity, and the greatest of these is charity.

If salvation was by “faith alone” then faith would be the greatest!!!

If we are saved by faith alone then when we first believed we would be saved?

Romans 13:11
…our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Faith alone? No
Works alone? No
Faith and works (prayer, fasting, alm, virtues, etc) thru grace in Christ enduring to the end in sanctification Matt 24:13

If by "heretics" you mean people who've left catholicism, perhaps it was God and not the devil who made them get out for their own good?..:)
Lol...so everyone that left the Catholic church is a heretic? Even though some of you Protestants agree with The Church on some doctrine but disagree with each other on almost all doctrines? Your theory makes no sense....
